Chapter 60
She got a call from Maan, and her phone vibrated.
"Kya kar rahen ho?", he asked.
"So rahin hoon", she said.
"Itni jaldi?", he asked.
"Hmmm, thag gayi hoon", she said.
"Theek hain", he said. "I'll talk later".
"Kuch important tha", she asked.
"Kuch important ho, tabhi phone karna chahiye?", he asked.
"Nahin aisi baat nahin", she said.
"Sleep Geet. I'lll talk later", he said.
"No its okay", she said, "We can talk".
"Geet, are you free on Friday night?", he asked, "I actually wanted you to come with me. Since its been some time we have not gone out", he said.
"Oh I see", she said, very casually and that surprised him.
"Geet, I think you should just sleep", he said, getting a little agitated with her casual reply.
"Alright good night Maan, and dream sweet, okay", she said, trying to suppress her giggle.
"Good night", he said and slammed the phone on the bed. He tried reading the newspaper but it did not work. He stood in the verandah for sometime and his phone rang again.
He answered the call but did not speak anything and his insides boiled when he heard her laugh at the other end.
"Maan, you get angry so fast", she said, laughing.
"It is not funny so keep quiet", he said, angrily.
"ok ok'.relax, Mr. Khurana", she said, softening a bit. "Accha ok, now tell me, where do you wanna go and when?", she asked.
"I'm not going with you", he said.
"Accha? Tuo mere saath nahin jayenge toh Sasha ke saath thodi na jayenge", she said, laughing again.
"Haan usi ke saath jaunga, lekin tumhaare saath nahin jaunga", he said.
"Maan", she said, softly and calmly and he smiled.
They were quiet for sometime only hearing the sound of each other's breaths.
"Maan", she called him, "Aap so gaye kya?", she asked.
"Haan aur Sasha ke saath date ke bare mein sapne dekh rahan hoon", he said.
"Accha, why don't you please replace that horrendous character Sasha with a angelic character Geet and then dream of a date?", she said, calmly.
"Geet, I gave you an option to make that dream a reality but you don't want to. So now what?", he said.
"Maan", she screamed, "Aapke sense of humor itna kharaab hain. Main obviously mazaak kar rahin thi", she said.
"Chilla kyun rahen ho?", he asked.
"Kyunki aapko chillane se hi baath samaj aati hain", she said, screaming again.
"Geet alright just cut it out", he said.
"Okay fine", she said.
"Friday night 7pm I'll pick you up", he said.
"Where are we going?", she asked.
"I dunno. Will decide then. Do you have any preferences or choices in mind?", he asked.
"Nope", she said.
"Okies, don't forget", he said.
"Ok", she said. "What should I wear?", she asked, seriously.
"Clothes", he said, even seriously.
"Maan", she screamed.
"What?", he asked.
"Obviously I wasn't thinking of wearing leaves Mr. Khurana", she said.
"Oh how unfortunate", he said, laughing.
"Maan", she screamed yet again.
"Geet, I know my name", he said. "Anyway we would not be going to any place where there is too much crowd or loud music", he said.
"Why do you prefer going to these secluded quiet places?", she asked out of curiosity.
"Hoping that some day you would let go your self-control", he said, in a husky voice.
"Maan", she said and he laughed.
"I always preferred such places Geet, it has nothing to do with you or anyone else. It has to do something with my taste. When I go out with you or with my family I prefer being in a serene place where I can spend some quality time", he said,
"Hmm, I'm impressed Mr. Khurana", she said.
"Thanks Geet, I said all that just to impress you", he said.
"You've impressed me long time back, Mr. Khurana without any effort", she said, softly.
"I see, so effortless deal is it?", he asked.
"Yep, if you can call it so", she said.
"Geet", he said, softly and calmly.
"Yep", she said.
"Nothing just felt like taking your name", he said.
She smiled, "I see", she said.
"Okies, so don't forget about Friday and now get to bed", he said.
"Nope, Now I'm not sleepy", she said.
"you expect me to sing a lullaby for you?", he asked.
"Well, that's a good idea", she said.
"Geet right. You want to fall asleep not lose your sleep for the rest of your life", he said.
"Maan", she called out his name.
"Yes Geet, now did you feel like just taking my name?", he asked.
"Nope I felt like doing a lot more than just take your name", she said, and bit her tongue and covered her mouth for having voiced those feelings of hers.
"You don't have to cover your mouth Geet", he said and she looked around wondering how he knew what she was doing.
"How do you know?", she asked.
"I know how you'd react to certain situations by now, love", he said.
She smiled and listened.
"The only difference is you have voiced your thoughts and I have not", he said. Her eyes opened wide in shock and so did her mouth.
"What?", she asked, wondering if she heard him right. She quickly spoke up, "Will you be my pillow tonight?"
He smiled and paused for sometime while she bit her nails, "Well, I would love to, but cant", he said.
"Why not?", she asked.
"Think think and you'll know the reasons your self", he said. She thought for sometime and suddenly heard the sound of water in the bathroom.
"Niharika", she said, softly.
"Yes and sweetheart you don't wanna scare her family and her. And I don't wanna give my grandmom any kind of shocks. I know she's a very broad minded woman but you know, even then", he said.
"Yeah", she said.
"Geet, we have never spoken about your family", he said.
"Yep, we'll do that on Friday Maan", she said.
"Alright", he said.
"Now what you gonna do after hanging up?", she asked.
"I have not hung up yet", he said.
"I know, Sir", she said, rolling her eyes.
"I might talk to my ex", he said, and smirked.
"I see, so where is she now?", asked Geet, smiling.
"Out of country on some business work", he said.
"Oh you're missing her", she asked.
"Ofcourse Geet, what kind of a question is that?", he asked.
"Yeah, right, stupid question", she said.
"Sleep now", he said.
"Yeah, I will. Have a long day to go", she said.
"Good night and sweet dreams", he said and kissed the phone. She blushed and kissed the phone back, "Good night Maan".
They hung up, Maan got back to checking some papers, and Geet turned around in bed for sometime and gradually walked away into a land of sleep, only to be woken up by the beep of her phone.
She checked the message that read, "It was you, it is you, and it will be always you. No "X's" and "Y's" in my life".
She smiled and said, "what about "Z's?"
"Geet, right from A-Z is all for you and no one else", he replied back.
"Thanks Mr. Khurana", she said.
":)" he replied.
The next day morning, Geet woke up early only to find Niharika missing. She called out her name but Nihu did not respond.
"Yeh jogging gayi kya?", wondered Geet and got out of bed and freshed up.
She walked downstairs and it was just 7:30 am. She went into the kitchen and helped Nihu's mom with making breakfast.
"Aunty Nihu kahan gayi?", she asked.
"Achint se milne, beti", replied her mom.
"Oh I see", she said, smiling and also wondering, "why dint she tell me before?"
Geet helped Nihu's mom for some more time, had breakfast and left to work early. she walked for sometime as she did not feel like taking a cab.
She called up Maan. And he took her call instantly.
"Morning Geet", he said.
"Maan, suno na", she said.
"Bolo", he said.
"Maan, pata hain, Nihu Achint se milne gayi hain", she said.
"Yeh achint kaun hain aur woh usse milne kyun gayi hain?", he asked.
"arey", she said and explained who Achint was and why she had gone to meet him.
"Good, so what?", he said.
"She dint tell me", complained Geet.
"Geet, don't act like a kid. She will come back and tell you. Who else would she tell, if not you", he said.
"But why dint she tell me before going to meet him", she asked.
"Geet, alright tell me this, when you confessed to me, did you tell her you were going to confess or did you tell her after you confessed", he asked.
"After I confessed", she said.
"Then did she ask you why you dint tell her before?", he asked.
"No", she said.
"That's because Geet, sometimes, we have no idea of what situations we might be put through. So may be she did not get a chance to tell you or may be she wanted to fill you, after meeting him. Stop complaining and get to work now", he said.
"Okay", she said and hung up, smiling. Maan was right. Nihu would come back and tell her everything. May be she dint want to disturb Geet in the morning.
She continued to walk and crossed the road to go to the other side. She heard Niharika's voice. She turned back to look at her and stopped.
Nihu came towards her, "Itni jaldi jaa rahin hain office?". she asked.
"Haan, tu nahin jaa rahin hain kya?", she asked, Niharika.
"Aaj lunch ke baad jaungi", she said and Geet found a tall wheatish colored guy standing behind her, in a pair of glasses.
He was wearing a white colored T-shirt and black colored tracks. He smiled at Geet and Geet smiled back.
"Geet, meet Achint", said Niharika.
"Hi, I'm Geet", said Geet.
"Nice meeting you" he said and smiled. Geet liked his smile, that cuased dipples of his cheeks.
"So you guys were jogging together?", asked Geet.
"Yeah, because we have to get to work and I have some dinner meetings to attend", he replied, "So the best possible time to meet was now", he said.
"I see", she said, "Carry on. I'll get to work", said Geet.
"Ok", he said and "will meet you some other time", he continued.
"Ofcourse", she said, smiling. Geet turned to Nihu and said, "Chalo baad mein milti hoon. Office mein kaam hain yaar bahut zyaada".
"Okies", said Nihu and Geet crossed the road and walked even further down the park road. She found Kiara and Kunal jogging together.
"Looks like this park is famous for all new-lovers", she thought and smiled, and walked away, not wanting to disturb them.
Time rolled by and finally it was Friday Morning. Geet had been busy all week and so did Niharika and Maan. She did not get the time to talk to either of them and both of them did not make an effort to call Geet too. Surprisingly she did not meet Maan or Nihu either.
Friday morning Geet woke up only to find Nihu standing in front of her, staring.
"Kya hua?", she asked and turned the other side to sleep.
"Utho Geet", said Nihu.
"Kya hua?" she asked.
"I was out of town did you even realize?", she asked.
"What?", asked Geet, "Where did you go and how did I not know?"
"You're too busy Geet", said Nihu sitting down by her on the bed. "I was in Shimla the last two days with Achint's family", she said.
Alright, that's it for now. More later. DOnt ask me about the next update. I dunno when. 😆😆
