Part 17

Wedding ceremony begins: Day 1

[After much negotiations and convincing CGM He agreed for the marriage.. On the other hand, Cornelia gave her father her word that she won't refuse to marry CGM. Everything was set, in the next few days, Marriage was going to take place.. Seleucus wanted the marriage to take place according to the Greek customs, CGM and Chanakya agreed… But they put the condition that as soon as the marriage is over, they will leave for Magadh along with the Princess and Amatya. Inspite of all these CGM was still confused about his decision but didn't spoke a word regarding his dilemma. Then suddenly the letter he had taken from the jungle which was for Helen drew his attention. To know it's secret, he called Mehir. Now as CGM was the new ruler of western provinces also, Mehir was no more scared of revealing his identity as CGM's spy. ]

Mehir: Samrat! Aapne bulaya??

CGM: Haan… Aaao Mehir… mujhe tumse kuch karya tha..

Mehir: Ji kahiye… [the time CGM was about to pick up the letter to handle it to Mehir, Mehir had already started] Samrat!! Main toh aapko bhadhaai dena hi bhul gaya!

CGM: Kis baat ki??

Mehir: Vivaah ki!! Aap vivaah jo karne jaa rahe hain!!

CGM: [hearing this , CGM forgot about the letter and got lost again in his gloomy thoughts] Ismein badhaai dene waali kya baat hai??

Mehir: Are kyon nahin?? Suna hai Raajkumaari Cornelia bahut hi guni hain… Aapko pata hai bachpan se unke guno ka aur unke saundarya ka bakhaan pura Greece karte aaya hai… Unhone khud apne chote bhaiyon ka veishesh dhyaan rakha hai.. shayad isiliye ve chote aayu ke balako ke saath kaisa vyavahaar karna chaiye, ye jaanti hain… Aur is samay pure Greece mein aisa koi nahin jo unhe pasand na karta ho… Mujhe Purna vishwaas hai ki Raajkumaar Bindusara bhi unhe behad pasand karenge!!

CGM: Kya?? Bindusara?? [then remembering the way Helen treated with those princes] Haan… Usne to acche se kiya tha… aur ye bhi kaha tha ki Raajkumaari ko pata hai ki balako ke saath kaise vyavahaar karna chahiye! To kya vo bindusara ko bhi…

CGM was a kinda fed up of the complaints he got from everyone about Bindusara… He couldn't pay attention to him since his birth… Now he had already seen that Kalyani was of no Help to him in this matter… And now Cornelia… However he could give a thought to it… so dropped the idea of refusing the marriage proposal now.. Meanwhile Shashank, CGM's best friend and Senapati of Mauryan army came.

Shashank: Kya baatein ho rahi hain Samrat?? Apne hone waale vivaah ki jaankaari le rahe hain?? Aakhir kaar vivaah Greek rasmo se ho rahi hain… Waise ab in sab ka samay bhi nahin… Acharya ne mujhe aapko bulaane ke liye bheja tha!! Chaliye!!!

CGM: are par kahaan??? Vivaah aaj hi hai kya??

Shashank: Are bandhu!!! Aaj pata nahin kuch toh hai… ab ye to sirf Mehir hi samjha sakta hai.. par vo sab yahaan se nikalne ke baad…. Chalo…

[They then moved to the giant Greek temple which was full of servants to welcome him. The temple was very beautiful and the gold plated walls were almost blinding their eyes when the light reflected through those walls. After a few more steps of walking through those majestic walls, they reached a place where they can easily see three chairs in midst of flowers. The chairs seeming less like a normal chair and more like a throne! There in between of unknown Greek and Indian faces, they found a familiar one. She was none other than Dakshita, CGM's royal bodyguard. She reached there before him to check the security settings.]

Shashank: Oho!! Aho bhagya humaare!! Jo aap padhaare!!

[Dakshita gives a stern look at him]

Shashank: Are … mere kehne ka arth ye hai ki agar tum nahin hoti toh Samrat ki suraksha ka aisa kada bandobast kaise ho pata?? Waise yahan saare Greek log hi dikh rahe hain… Koi bhartiya nahin mila tumhe??

Dakshita: Samrat!! Apne is mitra ko boliye apna muh band rakhne ko!!! Varna agar mujhe krodh aa gaya toh ye krodh karne laayak nahin bachega!

Shashank: Are baat baat par mujhse itna krodhit kyon jaati ho?? Main toh bas unhi…

CGM: Chup karo dono!! Jab dekho bacchon jaise ladte rehte ho… Jitna ladna hai akele mein lado.. main jaa raha hoon.. Mehir!! Chalo mere saath aur mujhe bataao yahaan ab kya hone wala hai?? Chalo..

[CGM and Mehir move out of the temple as there was some time left in the function to start. Moreover the Princess hadn't arrived yet.]

Meanwhile near the temple, Cornelia, Agatha, Omegas along with many servants were about to enter when Cornelia stopped. She was dressed just like a bride should be on her engagement. Yes, it was their engagement about which CGM was as confused as a little boy would be on entering a black hole ... Black hole of Greece!!!😆

Cornelia: Ruko!!

Agatha: Kya hua?? Rajkumaari ?? Koi apatti??

Cornelia: Mujhe kuch sahi nahin lag raha … main ye jhooth bolte bolte thak chuki hun… Main… ye sab… urghurghr!!!😕

Agatha: Hmmm… to aap Samrat se sab kuch sach sach bol dena chahti hain???

Cornelia: Haan!!! Vo bhi abhi isi samay!!

Omegas: Ab samay nahin raha… aur aap sach bolne ka parinaam jaanti hain.. Phir bhi!

Cornelia: Pata nahin kyon Omegas? Mujhe lagta hai ki sandro dil ka bahut accha hai.. vo samjhega!!

Omegas: [thinking] nahin Raajkumaari… vo waisa nahin hai jaisa aap soch rahi hain… par ye baat aapko bata kar main aapko dukhi nahin dekh sakta…

Agatha: Parantu aap aise jaayengi unke samaksh??

Cornelia: Kya fark padta hai?? Waise bhi unhe sach hi bataane jaa rahi hoon..[then watching CGM and Mehir talking at some distance near the temple] Ye pakdo!! [gives her the veil and her crown].. Main jaa rahi hoon..

CGM: [to Mehir] Ye aaj hone kya waala hai?? Aur bheetar vo teen aasan kiske liye the??

Mehir: Vo aasan aapke liye, Raajkumaari Cornelia ke liye aur teesra aasan iss mandir ke pramukh ke liye!

CGM: Mere aur raajkumaari ke liye aasan hona to samajh mein aa gaya!! Parantu ye Pramukh ke liye??

Mehir: Vo hi aap dono ko anguthiyaan pehnaayenge!! uske pashchyaat pure rajya mein aap dono ke vivaah ki ghoshna kar di jaayegi! Aisa hi niyam hai.. Kshama kijiyega.. parantu kya Ab main jaa sakta hun?? Mujhe kuch kaam tha..

CGM: Aisa niyam hai??? Hmm… Jaao!! Tum jaakar apna kaam karo!! Main yahan sab sambhaal lunga!

Mehir: Pranam!! [and leaves]

[Seeing him leave, Cornelia gathers enough courage to puke out the truth and moves in full confidence toward him to tell him the truth but as she came closer a stone struck her ankle very hard which made her almost fall on the ground when CGM caught her by her hand and saved her from falling on the ground. But the stone hit her ankle very hard leaving a pain in her leg]

Cornelia: Aaah!! Gaya mera paanv!! Ye sab mere saath hi kyon hota hai?? Aah!!! 😭[and started sighing in pain while still in CGM's arms]

CGM: [laughing] Tum ladkiyon ko kitni chot lagti hai!! Aur chot jitni bhi choti ho!! Tum sab itna rone kyon lagti ho!! Haahaa.. Waise bhi Greek ho na?? Choti se choti baton ko bhi badha chadha kar darshana tum yavano ki puraani aadat hai.. Kabhi kisi ko devta bana dete hain to kabhi devtaaon ko insaan!! Har baar!! Bechaare tumhare devtaaon ko sehna padta hai!!😆

Cornelia [getting out of his arms]: Aapke kehte ka tatparya hai?? Yahi ki hum Greek jhooth bolte hain?? Naatak karte hain?? Aap aisa soch bhi kaise sakte hain.. bolna to door ki baat!! [CGM smiles] Aap apne ko samajhte kya hain?? Jaante bhi hain ki kisse baat kar rahe hain aap?? Main aur koi nahin balki…😡

CGM [interrupting]: Dard chala gaya??😉

Cornelia: Kya?? Kya kaha??

CGM: Pairon ka dard !! chala gaya?? Abhi thodi der pehle to dard se karah rahi thi!! Ab kya hua??

Cornelia: [noticing that she is standing on her feet without any pain] Hunh?? [twisting her legs to feel any pain, but didn't find any] Ye kaise ho gaya?? Abhi to itna dard ho raha tha!! Kya kiya aapne??😳

CGM: Kuch nahin! Mere Acharya kehte hain ki dard aur peeda insaan ke sharir mein nain balki dimaag mein hoti hai.. Tumhara mastiksh dard par kuch adhik hi dhyaan de raha tha.. Maine bas uske dhyaan dene laayak ek behtar sthaan de diya!! Greek aur Bharat ka vaad vivaad!![gives a charming smile]😉

Cornelia: [smiling] Matlab abhi aapne jo bhi kaha vo sab…😊

CGM: sirf tumhe krodhit karne ke liye tha!! Ya phir yun kahoon ki dhyaan bataane ke liye…Main gambhir nahin tha un sab baton ko lekar! Tumhe kuch kehna tha waise?? Yahan kyon aayi thi?

Cornelia: Vo…. Aa.. main… ye bataane aayi thi ki….. raajkumaari taiyaar hain.. vo shighra hi yahaan padhaarne waali hain..

[Agatha who was listening all the conversation standing nearby puts her palm on her face in disappointment and shook her head]

CGM: Oh!! Tab toh mujhe bhi bheetar jaana chahiye! Chalta hoon.. Tumse aur raajkumaari se bheetar bhet hogi.. [Leaves]

Agatha: ye kya kiya aapne?? Aap to sab kuch sach bataane aayi thi na?? bataaya kyon nahin ??

Cornelia: Mujhe nahin pata…😕 waise bhi vivaah kal hai.. aaj raat ka samay hai mere paas main kuch na kuch kar hi loongi.. Ab andar chalo.. [puts on the veil and other ornaments including the princess crown]

Cornelia steps in the main hall where Seleucus, CGM, Tardus, Shashank, Dakshita and others were waiting. Chanakya was not present at that function as he hardly attended such functions. Nor was Mehir present there as C called him with some purpose. After Cornelia entered ad reached the place where CGM and Greek priest were waiting, everyone was then allowed to have their respective seats. CGM was curious to see Cornelia's face after hearing so much of appraisals about her as her face was again covered with the Veil, however didn't show his anxiousness. He found it strange that Helen was not present there but he couldn't do anything about that and why would he? As Mehir explained, the priest babbled something in Greek, asked few questions from Seleucus which were rituals, Seleucus answered them in Greek language. CGM wondered:

CGM [in mind]: Ye aadmi seleucus se kya puch raha hoga?? Aur Seleucus kya jawaab de raha hoga?? Mehir ko jaane nahin dena chahiye tha… kam se kam khud bhi thodi si Greek bhasha sikh leni chahiye thi!! Ab ye sab kab samaapt hoga?? Mujhe Bharat waapas jaana hai… In sab se thoda uub chukka hun!

Gradually after some more "Sach ka saamna" and all…. The priest demanded for the rings. Tardus ordered his pages to bring the rings. Soon the rings were brought kept on a round plate covered with white velvet. The Greek chief priest took one of the rings and put it in Cornelia's ring finger, then took the second one and put it in CGM's finger. A loud voice of roar filled with joy covered the huge hall. Then all of a sudden the Greek men started breaking plates. Seeing their such an unusual behavior, CGM and Shashank both were surprised and dumbstruck.

CGM: [in a soft voice to Shashank] Ye sab paagal ho gaye hain kya??? Bartan bhoomi par patak kar kyon tod rahein hain???? Ye yavan sach mein vichitra hote hain…

Shashank: [looking at Dakshita who was standing quite] Ye Dakshita itni tod phod hone ke baad bhi shaant khadi hai.. iska arth to yahi hua ki ye job hi kar rahein hain.. vo sab ise pata tha ki hone wala hai.. aur Samrat ko in sab se koi khatra nahin….

It was Greek tradition of Breaking plates at any auspicious or cheerful occasion. In ancient Greece, people used to think that by making such loud sounds and the sounds of Breaking plates keep the evil souls away from the bride and Groom.. Dakshita had known it from the time she was preparing for this occasion from security point of view… That's why she didn't react at it. On CGM's asking, She explained it to CGM and Shashank.

Shashank: Hey Prabhu!!! Humein bachaao in yavano se!! Ye log to bina koi yudhdha jeete hi humein kha jaayenge apne in rasmon se!!!
