Arhi ~ Chapter 3~
Kushi felt the kiss all the way to her very core. Every cell in her body came to life, yearning and demanding more. The kiss sent her into a passionate frenzy, its effect almost that of a drug. She bunched up his shirt and clung to him, all the while letting his tongue wreak havoc inside her mouth. Her lips parted on their accord, shifting to give him better access. Arnav used his own tongue to trace the shape and texture of her lips, the inside of her mouth and wage war against hers'. It was a purely blissful and arousing experience for him, for he's kissed numerous women numerous times but not one of them ever had the effect that Kushi was having on him right now; on his body and even though he hadn't realized it now, but also on his heart. Suddenly both heard a groan of pleasure and not knowing who had moaned the arousal, both came apart quickly and forcefully in a split second.
Kushi with her left hand on her throat and the right hand on her lips, shook her head vehemently to get rid of the cloud of passion and desire that seemed to be blocking any thoughts of reasoning. Suddenly realization crept in over what she had just done, but along with that so did anger and denial. " Why the hell did you kiss me? You cannot go around kissing girls like that. It's blasphemy. You hate me…I hate you…We both hate each other…than why would you do this… just to prove that you cannow do anything to me….You used to only be able to dictate me when I used to work under you…Heii Devi Maiyya…Just because I'm your wife now, it does not mean you can go around doing things like…like…kissing me and stuff. You have no right…what happened…our marriage…the rituals…the marriage…the contract….Ohh Devi Maiyya. " With those final words, Kushi slumped to the floor.
Arnav looked broodingly at Kushi Kumari Gupta. No, she is no longer Kushi Kumari Gupta. She is now Kushi Kumari Arnav Singh Raizada. He had wanted to answer her million questions but she had just gone on and on, leaving no breaks so he could voice in. So he just let her continue, waiting for her to finish her ranting. What he hadn't imagined was that she would feel so dejected and slump to the floor looking like she was tired of fighting, tired of fighting for herself, her family against him, his family and the world. For some unknown reason, seeing Kushi so forlorn and dejected did not sit well with him and he wanted to comfort her.
Kushi looked up with tears in her eyes and regarded the man who she was now forced to spend the rest of her life with. Her pain and sadness cut through him like a knife, slicing through the walls of his heart. She looked so lost. Slowly, not wanting to frighten her any further, Arnav gingerly sat next to her, both their backs against the frame of the magnanimous bed. Using what he hoped was his most logical, reasonable and patient voice he once again went over the reason why the both had decided to get married.
" Kushi, we both decided together why we had to do this. We had agreed to the most logical and right thing."
" I hadn't agreed to it. You had ordered that we marry and I had accepted as I had no other choice. Agreeing means that both sides want to voluntarily perform an act. "
" Kushi , don't be a fool. You know as much as I do that we had to do what we had to do in order to protect our families. We may not like each other, but we had no other choice. "
" No, you were just being selfish. You just care about yourself and your sister. You just wanted to make sure that your sister did not get hurt, so you used me in order to accomplish that. "
Gone was his patience and his attempt to reason with her. This ladki will never allow him that bliss. She always, one way or the other, was able to make him angry and disgruntled. Turning the full force of his piercing gaze on her face, he loudly proclaimed " And you weren't being selfish Kushi. You also had reasons for marrying me. Apart from the money---"
"I don't want your freaking money. Don't you understand that, Laard Governor, I am not a prostitute. " Kushi was back on her feet, burning him with one of her own smouldering gaze. " I have never wanted your money nor will I ever will. I married you in order to protect my sister. Just like you protected your's"
Arnav efficiently and effortlessly pulled her back down beside him. " So you agree, that you also had reasons of your own for marrying me. Then I guess I'm not the only selfish one and this is certainly an agreement. "
Kushi let out an exasperated sigh. She realized he was right. He hadn't forced her to do anything, just stated the facts, found the problem and found the solution. " I'm sorry…I shouldn't have called you selfish…I was…I was…Well you shouldn't have kissed me !"
Arnav smirked, letting his arrogance and pride show. " So the kiss did affect you…Oh and before you begin, I kissed you because I wanted to prove to you that since you're now my wife and a Raizada, that I can do what ever I want to you. So watch what you exclaim to me in anger, for I will retaliate."
Kushi gulped down her fear. She wouldn't allow him to see that he was still capable of making her nervous and agitated. " But from now on, you will not and must not kiss me…It wasn't on what we agreed…I will not have you kissing me…not like that…". Kushi blushed profusely, allowing Arnav to easily intercept her train of thought.
Why had he kissed her any way. She was speaking so ill about his mother and he just wanted to punish and hurt her, show her who was boss but for some unknown reason, he ended up expressing his anger and retaliation though the kiss. What kind of a punishment is that ? He looked down at Kushi and looked that she was twirling the pallo of her sari. She kept looking back at the door, towards the windows and balcony. It looked as though she feared that someone was going to spring right out of the shadows. How ironic was that. Since that was the reason why they had married in the first place. Wanting to ease her fear and tension, Arnav " gently" placed his hands on her, halting the frantic movements of her fingers. " Kushi, I promise you that I will never let him get to you. I promise that I'll protect you from him " .
Kushi was stunned beyond comprehension. Arnav Singh Raizada just tried to comfort her and in doing so had promised to protect her. Does that mean he cares for me. Have I once again been judging him too harshly. Could he truly, deeply and sincerely care about my feelings ? Without realizing what she was doing, Kushi gently placed her head on Arnav's shoulders. She felt him tense at her bizarre act but she let it slip her mind. She needed to feel safe, secure and protected. " We have our work cut out for us . Everyone is shocked as to why two people who hate each other beyond anything get married unknowingly in one day. How are you going to explain this to Nani, Anjali ji, maami, mama, Akash and poor Lavanya ji?. How am I going to explain this to jiji, amma ji, bua ji ? Thank God my father knows the reason for I cannot ever imagine hurting him like this. But jiji, she will be devastated. " What are we going to do ? " pondered Kushi out loud.
Arnav looked into the darkness of the shadows and seemed to ponder the question. How was he supposed to make sure that no one from his family or Kushi's found out why they had married when the reason was living right beneath his house?. Arnav took time in answering but when he did, he was back to being ASR, the business tycoon with the most calculative and business oriented mind. " We're going to pretend to be happily married because we fell in love. " He uttered the last word with such disgust and hate. Both sat like that for what seemed like hours, finally drifting off to sleep. They were suddenly awakened by a loud knocking and a voice that chilled Kushi's very soul but which alerted Arnav into his predatory and protective nature. It was the voice that belonged to the one who was responsible for all this mess, the marriage, and whom Arnav hated more than Kushi. He turned toward Kushi, whose face had paled. He quickly smudged her sindoor, ruffled her hair and creased her sari. He told her what to do and Kushi immediately complied by getting into the magnificent bed and pulling the blankets just leaving her face uncovered. Arnav quickly messed his shirt up, opened the buttons and walked to the door. Pretending to have just woken up from sleep, he annoyingly opened the master bedroom, and stood face to face with the his brother-in-law, Shyam ji.
