Part 2
It is Friday evening. Maan asked Geet the whole time why she has to go early, who is coming and so on. Geet herself doesn't know who is coming, so she couldn't tell Maan much. Even if Maan isn't showing it Geet, he has a bad feeling that something bad will happen. How right he was. If he just would have known before what is going to happen, he wouldn't let Geet go this easily today.
Karan came at 3pm to pick Geet up. He was looking disturbed and in deep thought. He took Geet and they went home. Once inside, Geet got the biggest shock of her life. Her brother dragged her in the living room where a man around 25 years, sitting in front of her father. He looked at her the moment she entered the room. She was told to sit down. The man was smiling at her. She didn't like his smile. It scared her somehow. Her brother Brij talked first and introduced them.
B: Sonu, this is my sister Geet. Isn't she as beautiful as I told you? And Geet, this is Sonu, my close friend from Mumbai. We went to the same college. He came here to find a nice girl and settle down. He has some saved money and wants a big wedding and open here a supermarket. I know him since so long and he is a good guy, so I thought about getting you two married.
Geets eyes widens in shock with what she heard. No, this can't be true. This is a joke. I am sure it is one. But what she heard next, makes her realize, that it wasn't a joke.
B: we talked with the pandit on the phone, and he told that the best date for the marriage is on Friday next week. Monday we will go to the registration office and you will marry there. After that is on Friday the hindu marriage. Now go and get some sweets for all of us!!
Geet was too shocked to move. Her mother came and helped her up. She didn't want to. She wanted to tell everyone that she can't marry anyone else then Maan. She opened her mouth to say something when her dad said:
R: the marriage is my final decision. She will marry you and no one else. By the way, how much will you give for my beautiful daughter?
Geet fell disgusted. She wanted to talk about her opinion and here they are talking in front of her how much she is worth??
They agreed to 100.000 Pounds. Geet couldn't stand it anymore. She left from there crying and run to her room. Her dadi came after her to consol her. Geet laid her head in her lap and cried her heart out. How could they be so cruel? They arranged her marriage without asking her once! They will sell her to a man and made the discussions about her price in front of her?! She won't take it anymore.
After an hour, Sonu was gone and Geet went scared like never before in her life in front of her father.
G: paji, I want to tell you something.
R: areh, aise khya dekh rahe hoon. Jaldi batao, baat kya hai. I don't have the whole day!!
Geet took all her courage and spoke for the first time what is in her mind in front of her family.
G: Paji, I don't want to marry him. I love someone else.
All are looking at Geet with shock.
R: How dare you?!?! How dare you speak to me like this!! How dare you question my decision!! And who is the b****** which you love!! Tell me, I will first kill you and then him!!
Rajeev was furious, angry and god knows what else. With the fury in him, he slapped Geet across her face. The slap was with such a force, that she flew on the floor.
She was unconscious.
The next thing she saw when she woke up was Brijs face. He was angry. Very angry.
B: have you done anything with your lover you b*****?!?!
Geet was shocked by the question. She quickly shook her head in a no. Brij was looking at her as to think if he should believe her or not.
B: how do I know you are telling the truth?!?! Chalo, we are going!! If you even utter a word, you are death!!
With that he packed Geet on her arm and dragged her out of the house.
