Chapter 2
Khushi was busy reading the magazine that lay in her lap when they called all the models out of the dressing room.
Usually this was the time when Khushi was the most nervous. These few minutes before she had to walk on the ramp. Soon the music started, it was loud and poppy. Mrs McMurty motioned for the first girl to step through the curtain. As she did Khushi caught a glimpse of the crowd. So many people on either side of the stage. A couple more girls went out before finally it was Khushi's turn.
When the curtain opened, all she could see at first was the ramp stretching out infront of her and a blur of faces on either side of her. Halfway through she caught a glimpse of her parents. Her mom beaming at her, while her dad had his arms around her. She kept going down the runway. Only after she had reached the very end did she see him.
The familar pair of dark eyes looking at her so intensily was the first thing she noticed before acknowledgeing his hair, dark and lustrous, the Stretch of his broad shoulders and his toned muscles. Khushi gasped, her eyes wide with shock. "Arnav" was the only word she managed to whisper.
She was the not only one shocked though, this feeling was shared by Arnav too who sat only meters away from her. Until now he had managed to block her out of his mind but now there was no stopping him. He sucked in a breath, knowing that if he looked at her longer, her beauty would take his life. But taking his eyes off her seemed almost impossible now. His eyes scanned her from head to toe taking mental notes of every little detail of her brilliant presence. The black evening gown, that she wore, hugged her slim figure lovingly, making her white creamy skin glow. Her hazel eyes which were now boring into his dark ones. She looked like a Goddess, so delicate and beautiful.
But before he could register anything she was turning. Turning around to walk back. Khushi somehow managed to make her way back to the dressing rooms not believing what she had just seen.
Was that really him? she thought to herself, while fitting herself into another dress that she was supposed to be wearing for the show. Her mouth was suddenly dry and hands sweaty. She could hear her heart, beating fast against her chest. No, she thought, It can't be Arnav, he can't come back. With this she walked out again. This time making sure that she had a good look around. But she didn't see him, not then and not for the rest of the evening. Was she hallucinating it? Had he been there in the first place.
That night Khushi had gone to bed with her thoughts muddled up. She laid in bed, staring at the celing and thinking of Arnav for God knows how long. She woke up early in the morning and pulled on her jogging pants and a green coloured t-shirt with her hair pulled back in a high pony.
Jogging was the one thing Khushi never missed. It gave her time to think and to plan things out. It was a beautiful morning, the air was so clean it felt heavenly. Khushi followed the path that led to the park.
"Khushi!" she heard someone call from behind. Khushi turned around, it was Mrs Mehra her mom's best friend.
"Hi Mrs Mehra, how are you today?" she called out to her still walking backwards.
"I'm good dear, you were looking gorgeous last night." Mrs Mehra exclaimed.
"Thank You, that's very nice of you." Khushi smiled
"Beta, ask your mom to call me in the afternoon i need to talk to her." Mrs Mehra told her.
"Yes ma'am, i will." Khushi replied, while quickeing her pace, so that she was literally jogging backwards. She watched as Mrs Mehra waved at her before walking away. After she was gone Khushi made a 180 degree turn so that she could walk staright again. But the very opposite happened, before she knew it she bumped into something, not a pole or a tree but something alive. It all happened in a split second. Before she knew it she was on the ground lieing on top of someone. Something splashed on her face, she was pretty sure it was mud. She slowly opened her eyes pissed off at who ever had bumped into her. What a retard, can't even walk straight, she thought to herself, i'll give him a piece of my mind.
But the minute she saw the person she was lieing on top of she forgot everything. She tried to speak but nothing came out of her mouth. Her heart was beating fast, she could feel his warm breath on her face causing a chill run down her spine. There lips only inches away. Khushi was trapped, trapped under his intense gaze as always. She could do nothing but stare, stare at Arnav Singh Raizada, who was staring back as if nothing else exsisted.
