Chapter 6
Mr.Singha visited her early in the morning for a check-up before she leaves the clinic and confirmed that it is absolutely fine for her to leave but has to take care by not taking too much stress, he had asked not to give too much pressure for the brain to remember the past as it can cause it to take too much time to recover.
She agreed to follow his instructions and decided to relax, it was not easy but she will try her best. Resting her back on the pillow she was in a position of half sitting on the bed staring at the food plate in front of her, she has lost her appetite however managed to finish a reasonable amount of food.
'Now what?' After finishing her eating session she went back to her sleeping position and wondered what she'll have to do to avoid thinking about her life. Just resting on the bed all day long has made her feel extremely lethargic she was not going to let her body get sluggish thinking she slowly moved her leg and placed her palm on the floor it felt so good to feel the earth, gradually placing both her legs she tried to stand up it was hurting but not unbearable although the muscles in her body were out of touch she didn't give up, holding the chair next to her bed to maintain the balance she reached the couch close by the window and sat on it to get lost in the nature with a wonderful weather. The cold wind calming down her restless mind, she didn't know how long she was admiring the feel of nature, it is truly a bliss. She was brought back to the earth by a click on the door handle, turning around, she found Anna carrying a small hand bag with her.
'Hey! Hope you're feeling better? She asked coming closer to her.
Rati smiled 'Feeling much better, thank you. Wonderful weather, isn't it?'
'True, don't worry you'll get to go on a walk very soon and uh'this bag was with you when you were admitted here' she said handing a good quality bag which was now damaged with some scratches and stains on it.
'I'll leave, should check on a patient, be good' Rati taking the bag started to pull out the things which were in it, like a small make-up kit and few papers which had some blurred hand writing. She supposed she must have had some notes with her, she didn't worry, she knows things will get better soon, she can't afford to lose hope. She moved to the bed slowly and decided to have a small nap before she feels too weak.
She woke up to soft caress on her forehead and found Mayank sitting on the corner of the bed trying to wake her up.
'Good evening love,' whispered Mayank with a slight grin.
'Oh I'm sorry, I over slept!' she said trying to move into a sitting position.
'Relax, it's ok you need to rest,' said Mayank by holding by her shoulder helping to sit comfortably.
'I'm doing that quite a lot lately, I'm sorry I'm not yet changed,' She said in a low tone.
'Oh come on don't worry, it's nothing but a matter of few minutes, Nurse Charusheel will be here shortly to help you change, we'll move out before it gets too dark outside'
'You said we're going outside London, where are we going to go exactly? Don't you live here in London?' She questioned, eager to know more about her accommodation.
'It's a small village called Shipton Ash; a village in Hertfordshire, It will be suitable for your health condition as the place is serene and beautiful, much better than my apartment in London,' he studied her questioning expression continued before she could ask any question. 'Actually I inherited Grove House recently after my grandmother, she passed away two months back,' He said the last bit in a gloomy tone and she felt her heart filling up with some kind of a weird but warm feeling, as a reaction she held his hand in a affectionate grip. 'Do I know your grandmother?' she asked.
'You never met her,' but I'm sure you'll like it there, it's a very nice place to relax,' in supportive tone.
'I will be staying there all by myself? She asked him in a vulnerable voice.
'Don't worry, I'll be there as much as possible and don't worry you'll have your own room,' he said with a slight grin, and suddenly changing his face into a serious expression, 'I want to make something clear to you before I take you with me, as I told you earlier we'll completely maintain a friendly relationship I','
She being blunt totally unlike her cut him in-between and said 'so then I'll give your engagement ring back to you,' took her right hand to remove the ring, He being himself calm as ever stopped her hand by holding it said, 'I didn't mean that I'm calling off the engagement, I just want you to feel comfortable till your memory returns, and Mr. Singha wanted me to keep you away from any responsibility which you'll find hard to carry out, and I'm not coming closer to you more than this even if you beg me to,' he said moving two steps away from her playfully.
She laughed out loud and felt great to have him in her life beside her in her tough time. They left the clinic after she thanked all the staff's in there for their great support, she is truly lucky to have them near her in this phase of her life and she silently thanked god for that. Holding Mayank's arm she slowly walked to his car and felt at great ease after resting on the seat she was amazed at the weakness she was feeling after walking a few steps and that too Mayank holding her tight and walking slowly as possible.
They started their journey, it was a wonderful feeling for Arti to be outside as a normal human than to be a nosy patient on the bed, soon she slipped into a deep slumber and woke after sometime to find Mayank with a stern face concentrating on the path in front and turning seeing her awake he gave her a warm smile which she returned equally but slept again feeling exhausted.
When she woke up again she found a board which expressed that they have reached the destination, soon they arrived at a place where there was a wonderful garden protected by a huge iron gate. Mayank quickly got down from the car and went to open the gate and returned to the driver's seat swiftly, getting a better view of the garden made Rati quickly say 'My mom loved flowery gardens..' and stopped abruptly, Mayank you said that my parents are out there in India and you didn't find it necessary to inform them about my accident as it was not life threatening and also they will be hurt if I say that I don't remember them, But now I said that 'My mother loved gardens' she emphasized on the word loved and nervously asked Mayank 'Is my mother' mother dead?' 'Is she? Please tell me Mayank''
