Part 24
Mayank was lying beside Nupur, too close to sleep peacefully and so he tried to shift a bit… however as soona s he moved away, his hand was taken into her soft hands, and she mumbled, " kahan ja rahe ho?"
Mayank turned around and couldn't help but smile at the innocent picture she made, mumbling and frowning, still holding his hand…
Mayank: " I m not going anywhere kid.. I just thought I will move to my side of the bed."
Nupur: " cant u just stay here please?"
Still half asleep , she moved closer to him, snuggling …
Mayank turned and giving up, lied down beside her, " as u wish! But don't complain tomorrow."
He placed his arms around her and pulled her closer to him.
Mayank: " u could have told me horror movies have this effect on u…"
Nupur: " hmmm… but u don't move ok? Otherwise I will again have those nightmares.."
Mayank kissed her forehead , in awe with this side of his wife..
Mayank: " ok I wont .. btw what nightmares?"
Nupur cuddled closer and hugged him, " I see some creature running after me.. I keep on running until.. until…"
Mayank hold on her waist increased and he rubbed her back, " until?"
Nupur: " until I give up…"
She mumbled and he felt something wet on his shirt.. she was crying…
Mayank: " Nupur…"
He moved her a bit away, only to hold her face in his hands, " kya hua?"
Nupur: " I cant fight … I always give in… always…"
Mayank: " Nupur kya hua?"
Nupur: " monster always wins! At the end I just stand there.. waiting for him to kill me! I get tired of running.. very tired.."
Her sobs were getting louder now and Mayank felt his boyd go all stiff.. something pierced his heart.. specially because suddenly he realized maybe he knew one of the monsters of her life…
Nupur: " my will to fight is so easily broken…"
Mayank didn't know what to say.. he had never felt this way before.. it couldn't be guilt.. no it couldn't! he had wanted her and still do! Besides he married her…. what else could he do?
But when she said she stopped fighting.. she had stopped fighting him….
Nupur was still holding onto him tightly …. However he was feeling hesitant for the first time to touch her…
"I hate u!"
for the first time these words hurt…
Mayank was about to move away again when she held onto his shirt tightly, hiding her face and still mumbling, " u are impossible!"
Mayank: " if only u would let me move, maybe u will hate me less…"
Nupur: " but I don't want u to move!"
Mayank was taken aback by this sudden statement but then he thought maybe it was because of her fears…
Mayank: " exactly what do u want me to do that will not make u hate me as much as u hate that monster form ur night mares…"
Nupur: " u can hug me for a start…."
Mayank was sure he had heard wrong…
Mayank: " Nupur, what did u have for dinner?"
Nupur: " if u are kidding then fine I don't need anything!"
She turned to the other side and Mayank was left in awe with her again….
Pulling her again towards himself, he placed his arms around her, " now is it fine?"
Nupur: " hmm… I hate horror movies!"
Mayank: " and I never loved them more!"
Nupur: " u are again teasing! I m serious!"
Mayank: " ok I m sorry!"
Mind: " arrrghhh! I just dozed off and look what u did!"
Heart: " I just did what she wanted! Don't u know how frighten she gets after such movies?"
Mind: " but this was just not the right way!"
Heart: " shut up for a minute! Before u get up fully and take over, I need to say a last thing to him!"
Mind; " no way… just shut up…"
Nupur: " u are not a monster…"
Mayank: " really? I thought the description was of me…."
Nupur: " well yeah I hate u when u force me… like the way u did that night.. but u can be good at times…. Like u were tonight… "
Mind: " how could u say that?"
Heart: " oh shut up! I did what I intended now I am off to sleep!"
Mind: " and how will I manage now?"
Heart: "u don't have to do a thing, he will.."
Mayank : " for the first time in life, I felt bad, cause I know I indeed acted like a monster with u."
Nupur: " yes u did.. in the beginning…"
Mayank: " and u gave up.. as u said u do with monsters of ur nightmares.. "
Nupur: " no.. that the point.. I didn't give up… I just… I just accepted…."
Maynk: " and is there a difference in that?"
Nupru: " there is.. but can we sleep now? I m sleepy!"
Mayank: " by all means sweetheart…"
Nupur: " don't u dare move away now…"
Mayank:" I wont!"
Nupur: " promise?"
Mayank:" promise!"
Nuupr: " ok then good night!"
She was asleep within a few minutes but Mayank was awake for a long while… after years, his heart had spoken up… and his mind was unable to stop it…
Heart: " u did wrong to her…"
Mind: " she is his wife now.."
Heart: " that doesn't allow him to molest her…"
Mind: " ok ok! But…"
Heart: " I don't like to see her cry…"
Mayank knew his heart was right.. her tears effected him.. after 16years he felt commotion inside him…his heart was arguing with his mind…
But the feeling that came with this argument was what surprised mayank…
He felt alive… after 16 years he felt like a human…
He looked down at the girl lying enveloped in his arms… who had just made him promise to not leave her…
He bent down and kissed her forehead, " I wont leave u… and I wont ever force u again…"
She unconsciously cuddled more to him and he caressed her cheek softly, looking at her and realizing, there was something more then lust maybe… something… because having her in his arms, was a feeling he knew he would never get used to… he liked it… he felt like a protector , not a lusty man after her body.. he did desire for her… but tonight he had stopped himself too.. because he had seen tars forming in her eyes… ,no maybe he wasn't a monster… he felt more like a … a man… yes a human… a man who wanted his wife badly still ..yes… there was no denying that he ached for her … however he also felt like a man … who was going to fulfill the vows of their marriage…
