A Maaneet Tale

Epilogue

"It's a boy!" said the nurse

Maan stopped pacing back and forth and felt the whole world around him grow brighter. His worried frown changed into a grin that scintillated the whole hospital ward.

Anjali squealed in excitement. Her husband Yash gasped. The Queen clapped her hands in delight and gave Maan a light pat on the shoulder. Her husband smiled and ruffled Maan's hair affectionately.

Muskaan stood beside Maan, holding his hand and grinning; showing her teeth which was missing a tooth.

Muskaan: "I have a brother now, don't I?" she asked

Maan nodded, speechless at the news he just heard. He wanted to go and see Geet. Right. Now.

"Yes, you can go see her" said the nurse, somehow reading Maan's mind. The family rushed inside the room Geet was in and stared at the little bundle of joy that she had in her arms. Anjali immediately made her way beside Geet.

Anjali: "Look. He's took after Maan. He's not smiling at all!" she said

The family laughed while looking at Maan. Maan couldn't help but blush as he went over and stood at the other side of Geet's bed. He really wasn't smiling at all.

Geet grinned and passed the little creature over to Maan's arms. He held him and smiled with joy, playing with his tiny hand.

Maan: "His eyes. Just like Geet's though"

Yash: "This calls for a picture!" he said a few days later after Geet had arrived home.

Anjali: "Totally. Let me get the camera!" she said excitedly and rushed upstairs to find a camera. After she had found one, she came back downstairs and looked around for a suitable place to take the picture.

Anjali: "Over here!" she pointed to the space in front of the stairs. The family moved to the space she pointed at. Maan and Geet couldn't stop staring at the baby she carried in her arms.

Anjali quickly set a timer on the camera and set it on the tripod before hurrying back to the rest of the family. She stood beside her husband Yash who wrapped a warm hand around her waist.

Anjali: "Say cheese everyone!"
