@all...thanks for all ur likes n comments🤗
here's another continued part...well Mayank and Nupur in this story have a long gap of unknown air between them...I tried my best to write this part...I hope it has come out fine...will wait for ur responses😊
Part 22:
…looking at her tears, he went ahead and wiped those off her cheeks and almost undecidedly and in split thoughts, he moved ahead slowly and hugged her surprising both out of their wits.
Nupur was stunned to say the least. She was ACTUALLY stunned, and stayed motionless for a brief moment. He had held onto her close and she saw that she was no more feeling any tears or the emotions that she was so worried about only a moment ago. Now she felt something else…something strong….but she was too stunned to analyse what…
A surge of relief was incepted in her brain when she realized that she was may be thinking wrong all along and was getting all worried too soon. But did this mean all was well? Did it?
Mayank realized he had been hugging her for quite sometime now. He felt may be he had done it for her but it was needed more by him than her. He had been ignoring this very conveniently but now he felt at peace with himself too.
Morover, he did understand one thing about Nupur, that she was sensitive. Not delicate but yes sensitive. When she believed in talking a lot, she also relied on them for understanding to grow.
He was not a person to talk all emotional, but he knew he woud surely have to bridge this lack of sync between their different perceptions and actions. He actually found it strange that he was thinking all this because he never thought this earlier. Not with his friends ( who were just a few but not too close), not with his colleagues and not with his Ma too, since here he was not required to.
He remembered his Dad saying to him, 'We care but people may not know Us already, Mayank you should ease up a little with people'
Well he didn't care much about people in general but here he did care about Nupur. He felt sorry that he made her cry. The first thing he had noticed about her was that she had an undying smile on her face, which did not fade away even when she wasn't smiling. It had been just a day to say, but he had bothered enough to make her cry. He realized whatever he did; this is what he will have to look forward to that he never did again.
To see her cry was like….okay well, he didn't know what but not even close to what he would appreciate.
He moved back and looked in her eyes which were now not as wet as they were, he was glad that she had finally stopped crying. Another trait like a small kid in her, she calmed down because he hugged her.
When Mayank moved away, Nupur realized that she hadn't hugged him back, at all. Rather she had just gone immobile for a while. Feeling odd she looked away and then back in his eyes coz he didn't look away even for a second.
NOW, she didn't know what to say.
Mayank traced his fingers again over the traces of her tears and looking at her with a rare combination of care and strictness but with determination he said, "Nupur! Never, never cry!"
Nupur tried to wipe off over her eyes and said, "Nahi woh, main toh…" she failed in what to say next with that look in his eyes. She didn't want Mayank to feel that she was a cry baby or something.
For the fact, she hardly cried, but today things had been brewing so much in her mind that she didn't realize when she actually started to shed those. She didn't know why but from a day or two, she was just looking at things at a larger picture. Not a moment or a span but as a whole. Most importantly the thing which had bugged her so much was that Mayank wasn't interacting too much. She wasn't clear on her thoughts so. She already had, supposedly, a bad impression on his in regards to handling things around her, as he himself had said too, and with Mayank keeping silent mostly made her wonder a lot, what was she supposed to do and what not. She repeatedly felt an incomplete feeling because he wouldn't share much of his thoughts to her.
For now, she understood that she needs to sort her thoughts and their relation too rather than giving any importance to anymore confusion.
But right now, his stern look after declaring that she should never cry left her with fewer words with herself. Besides, even in this emotional unsurge, his closeness to her was doing wonders in snatching away quick thinking from her.
After another attempt from her, "Mayank, main bas yeh kehna chahti thi…" Mayank shushed her,"Shh.."
Nupur looked at him wondering even more that if he really understood her plight.
Mayank continued, "Nupur, U fine now?"
Nupur nodded in a 'yes'.
Mayank again continued, "Nupur, mera matlab woh nahi tha. I just thought, ki hamein waqt chahiye ek doosre ko samajhne ke liye, jaanne ke liye " He really couldn't believe he was saying all this. But he felt that this was now necessary now that he saw a long gap of thoughts in between them.
"Nupur maine kaha tha naa ke hum jaise hain waise hi rahenge. Toh tum itna kyun soch rahi ho? Meri habit hai thodi galtiyaan point out karne ki, I don't know ki woh achchi hai ya buri but that's a part of me. Just like, tumme bhi achchaiyaan aur buraiyaan hongi - and that is what makes you, right?"
Nupur understood his point of view but she also wanted to tell him that this was not it; this was just a part of her worries. But she didn't know how to ask more. Her question that had bothered her much more was what she had asked - whether he will be able to accept her as she is, or will he just get used to this phase of their life, the way they were now, minimal interaction, and least compatibility in thoughts, words, habit and all. But she didn't know how to ask this again as she wanted to? She wasn't sure.
Still Nupur nodded at his words.
Mayank was amazed to see her just react and not talk, now that he wanted to. Though he continued, "Nupur, jahan tak promises ki baat hai toh uss waqt tumne sahi samjha tha…woh promises hi the and real promises thi"
Nupur looked deep in his eyes as she measured the depth of his words in them. She realized that his eyes said the same that his words did. He had very deep eyes and the honesty in them amazed her even more. She was, from now, a real fan of those honest eyes.
She wondered if she wanted to ask those questions anymore. She needed to trust those words and his eyes and most importantly him. Rather seeing him trying to explain things to her too talked a lot about him. She actually hadn't imagined him to say all this, though she wanted to hear all that, but MAYANK SHARMA saying all this meant a completely different thing.
She too needed to try to understand his silence and if not, she should fill those silences with her words so much so that there didn't exist much of a gap between them as she had seen was there right now.
She nodded more positively and said, "Thanks Mayank!"
Mayank smiled to finally get what he wanted, her confidence in him. Without any second thoughts, he moved ahead and gave her a quick hug again. Trying to assure her and well, simply coz he wanted to!
Nupur felt flutters in her heart to be precise.
He had actually managed to help her here. She felt the pressure of answering him and explaining her reaction today lift off from her. This was better, much better. She was starting to like this Mayank more, she had seen glimpses of this side of Mayank earlier too but now she was almost grateful to have discovered that this aspect of Mayank may bring them closer mentally, yes mental compatibility was very important for the starters and that is what worked long way too.
Nupur smiled to Mayank as he moved away, a bit nervously but she felt the air between them turn peaceful and understandable too. Her smile had gifted Mayank with what he wanted. He was glad that he was again able to make her smile.
Mayank heard his cell phone ring when he got up from the couch and started to move away when remembering some more of her earlier questions he turned back and said, "Wasie Nupur, Umm….I like you" he wasn't exactly sure what was he supposed to say in regards her 'accpeting' questions. He really wasn't used to talk all emotional and looking at the words by him now to Nupur, he would have almost qualified for an award if his Ma had got to know the way he had handled all this. But, he felt good as he told the last sentence to Nupur, a sort of relief spread on his face when he saw Nupur's face crease-out of any more confusions and she smiled almost trying to hide a flustered smile, if he saw it correctly.
He went ahead to attend his call leaving a dazed Nupur behind.
Had she heard it correctly? Could it be that simple that he seemed so easy going all of a sudden? Whatever it was, she felt so relieved suddenly. His words ringing in her ears, 'Waise Nupur, I like you' with that soft tone of his. Did he actually say that to her? But she hadn't even asked any thing as such,or had she?
Well, whatever it was, she was most joyful. Life is so unexpected always; she was worried so much for nothing.
Mayank may not be all so agreeable always, but when time needed he would take care of things just right.
She vowed to take all the possible care to let them have a good companionship. This must just be a start, a good one finally. Suddenly, she was looking forward to her Happily Married Ever After for the first time. It gave an uneasy feeling but a wave of hope of happiness too, though she wasn't sure how long will it take to be all happy but she was positive that it may happen.
