Part 7 :
It had been a few days after which Mayank and Nupur met again at the same place standing in the line for an auto. Nupur saw him standing distanced by 2 people between them, when she checked her watch and walked upto him and exclaimed, "Mayank ByGod...aaj toh main almost time par hoon...matlab sirf 5 minutes late hoon" she checked her watch again to calculate the exact time and waited for his answer who looked strangely disturbed and tried to smile when he said, "Good...good for you then"
Nupur shaked her head half smiling for the way he said that and asked looking around,"Shilpa Aunty kahaan hain?"
Mayank was again back to his much needed sarcasm which was important for him now when he said, "Ma...Ma almost time par nahi...'TIME' par hai...aur waise bhi Ma ghar se hi auto pakadti hai, ya unki friend ke saath car mein jaati hai...strange, itne dino mein tumhe itna bhi nahi pata chala?"
Nupur was irritated with the fact that he was so against her with every word of his and what was the worst part was that he was never really wrong, she did miss out on a few good facts usually and it was now becoming a trend that she was generally in a situations that made him look down on her. She still wishe he was not so straight forward to mention those everytime. She thought and replied, "Main kaam bhi karti hoon...sirf baatein nahi...aur waise bhi, pata nahi tha toh kya hua ab pata chal gaya...ab se pata hai..." and smiles, crossing her hands on her chest with a winning smile.
Mayank looked at her amazed for a while, how she had the capability to turn the tide, be it any situation and however he tried to find faults, but she managed to make him stop and look at her and listen to her which was oddly making, something in him, take her side because whatever she did
suggested nothing was a big deal for her ever whether it was a good quality or a bad one, she seemed likely to be called cute everytime, though he didn't know why exactly.
Nupur looked at him looking at her as if waiting for some more words from her coz he seemed back to 'analyse-her-more-for-more-comments-to-his-credit' when Nupur felt a little nervous at his gaze and promptly asked what she wasn't sure of whether she should have asked, "Mayank...woh shirt?"
Mayank came back to present words of her and not wanting to bring that out that she had actually gifted him a shirt and he had so easily taken it too, he asked as if expressing 'what-about-it' he said raising his eye brows, "Shirt?"
Nupur quickly changed her tone when she said, "Dekha mujhe pata tha ke Aunty ne yuhi tumhara bartaav chupaane ke liye mujhe kaha ke tumhe woh pasand aaya...aur main tumhe thanks bolne waali thi...par nahi mujhe tumhe chup chap 550/- return kar chahiye the taaki tumhe kuch bolne se pehle 2 baar soochun toh nahi...yeh soch ke ki tumne meri help ki aur uska main ehsaan bhi nahi chuka paayi...pa tum yoh..."
She sighed when Mayank said, "Tum 2 baar soch kar itna bolti ho?"
Nupur looked at him dumbstruck for the way he had catched her words again and posed them on her the way he did. She wanted to win at this game of his, she decided and opened her mouth to speak when Mayank, even stranger to him than Nupur, said, "Ma ne mere behalf pe nahi kaha tha...Shirt ke liye thanks..."
At these words Nupur looked at him amused and felt lost already in the game she had decided to play a few moments ago when she suddenly remembered, "Aur tum itni jaldi office jaa rahe ho?" not being able to put a remark on his thanks she diverted the topic.
Mayank looked at her in dis- believe but relieved that she didn't anymore look at him the way she had done a while ago coz that was not good for his mind's reasoning, he knew. Warding off all his complex thoughts he said, "Mujhe aaj jaldi kaam hai office mein...ab kya aap please questions ki baarish band karengi...ek toh koi auto nahi aa rahi hai aaj!"
Nupur's mind was immediately diverted to the auto part which she had managed to forget about completely, during the time she conversed with Mayank. She looked around and said, "Ab main aaj auto ki wajah se late ho jaaoungi...hadd hai musibaton ki mere saath...ByGod...ab agar agle 2 minute mein ek bhi auto nahi aayi toh mein kissi gaadi ke neeche aa kar jaan hi de dungi..." she vented out her anger without much thinking and huffed as she stood there looking at her watch after every other minute she got late today.
Nupur tried to peep ahead to see if she could see any auto coming their way when Mayank held her wrist and pulled her a little thinking if she literally meant what she had said about 'the 2 minutes ultimatum'.
Nupur looked at him blankly and confused when she saw a little worry on his face and she couldn't help bursting out in laughter and said, "Mayank mera matlab sach mein gaadi ke neeche aane ka nahi tha...woh toh main bas bolte bolte bol gayi...aur waise bhi itni aasani se main apni life daav par nahi lagaane wali kabhi..."
Mayank looked at his hand still on her wrist and realising his act as silly and unlike him, impulsive too, he left her hand immediately and said, "Tum kya kehti ho aur kya karti ho kya pata...main tumhari kissi aisi waisi harkat ka blame apne sar nahi lena afford kar sakta..."
Nupur looked at his face open mouthed when she slowly saw worry to be replaced by his usual witty pride when he said that and she allowed herself to get a little more irritated than she already was and she vaguely went upto a shop about 5 steps away and asked, "Uncle...auto kyun nahi aa rahi hai aaj...hum toh pichle 15 minutes se wait kar rahe hain..." and she got a reply which told her that the autos were on a strike for the issue of fare hike and she quickly came back and informed Mayank and asked, "Ab kya karein?"
Mayank replied as a matter of factly, "Karna kya hai...lagta hai tumhare naseeb mein kabhi time par office jaana nahi likha hai...aur jo tumhare saath ho uske bhi..."
Nupur looked at him narrowing her eyes and followed him when he started to walk.

Mayank and Nupur started walking together barely talking.
Mayank thought of thinking about 1 good reason why her faults didn't matter to him and he felt very much interested in present walk and waited for her to once more talk.
On the other hand, Nupur thought of the way he would be casual to her for once atleast. His silence and wit intrigued her and made her wanting to know him
