Part : 7

After a week

Maan was returning to Officer's quarter. It was a cloudy night. So Maan was walking fast. He reached the garage of the quarter he was going to enter the lift but he stopped hearing something. He followed the sound.

A group of junior officers were sitting on a corner drinking. They have joined just a few months ago.

"I should have killed the colonel before he did that. Before he made me do that." One of them spoke.

"We are just junior officers. Our job is just to follow orders." Another officer replied. "We can't do anything even if we want." He sighed.

"From the last 7days the screaming of innocent people are haunting me. They were pleading for their lives. But that son of b**** is heartless. He is an evil on earth. At least I can kill him." the first guy shouted a little "before doing another massacre." He was going on but Maan didn't stop listen to him. He left for his flat.

Next Day

There was a party in the military camp thrown by senior officers. At afternoon Maan and Geet were sitting at their regular place.

Maan: mujhe aj jaldi jana hai.

After a while Maan spoke.

Geet: kyu? Mai boar kai rahi hoon? Par aj mere paas batane ke liye kuch bhi nahi hai.. sach' nahi to mai'.

Maan: chup bilkul chup'

Maan put his long finger on Geet's lips.. Geet stopped for a few seconds then ignored the finger on her lips and started to speak again.

Geet: ab to mai chup ho gayi na.. ab bataiye aj jaldi kyu hai apko?

Maan put down his finger and smiled.

Maan: wo aj ek party hai.. toh'mujhe jaldi jana'

Geet: wo.. mai samajh gayi..

She turned her face to another direction.

Maan: kya samjhgayi??

Geet: ap mere saath bore ho rahe ho hai na?

Maan: meri samjhdar Geet.. tum mujhe kabhi bore nahi karte'

She didn't reply.

Maan: gussa ho gaye mujhse?

Geet nodes. Maan couldn't stop smiling.

Maan: chalo ek kaam karo... aj tum bhi mere saath chalo'

Geet: sach..

A smiled spread on her face then it became darker' "par ammi ko'"

Maan: usse mai mana lunga' bas tum taiar hone me zada waqt math lagana'

Maan stood up and helped Geet to stand up'

Geet: nahi to?

Maan: nahi to mai akela hi chala jaunga..

Geet: ladki wo ko taiar hone me waqt lagta hai..

She elbowed him.

Maan reached Geet's house on time. He had already convinced her mom to bring her with him. Her mom indicated him to go to Geet's room.

Geet was standing in front of mirror wearing a white sari which was showing her perfect curves. She wore her hair down which was covering the upper part of her back.

"Geet" hearing his voice Geet turned back to him.

She was wearing a heavy ear ring and a wristlet. Maan became spellbound seeing her in sari. Maan felt peace in his soul and mind and at the same time he felt a restless in his mind to touch her, feel her. She was looking so calm so beautiful. But he also felt a pain in his heart, which was reminding him of the loneliness he was carrying within himself for years. He realized how much he needs her to live.

Geet smiled at him.

"Chale" Maan said in a low tone and Geet nodded positively.

As they started to leave her mom spoke from behind.. "9 baje se pahele ghar aa jana."

Both of them nodded and left the house.

They were walking side by side. Maan slowly put his hand around her waist. She felt a protective but caring touch on her.

After walking a while they reached their destination. Most of the people were already there. They made their way to a corner. After a while Maan spoke

"tum achi dikh rahi ho."

"ye batane me itni der kyu ki?" She sighed. "mai to soch rahi thi mai achi dikh rahi hu ya nahi.."

Maan smiled "Geet tum kabhi bura dikh hi nahi sakti'" Suddenly Maan was cut as someone called his name from behind.

"Maan'" He turned back to see the owner of the voice. It was colonel. He greeted his teeth as their last conversation crossed his mind.

"who is the pretty lady with you?" Colonel smiled looking at Geet showing her yellowish teeth. Then he step forward to Geet "Hello! I'm Colonel Rathod."

Geet smiled and introduced herself.

"nice to meet you pretty lady." He shook her hand. Maan noticed Colonel was slowly gripping Geet's hand tightly. Maan put his arm around Geet's shoulder " see you tomorrow Colonel." He gave a sharp smile.

The Colonel turned his gaze to Maan. He realized the firm command to leave in his voice. "enjoy.." then he left showing his yellowish teeth once again.

Geet: Mujhe wo admi bilkul bhi pasand nahi hai.

Maan: na hi mujhe hai.. bhul jao usse'

Maan moved his gaze every where in the room to spot the junior officers he had seen yesterday. Maan spot them drinking at the bar. He saw all of them except the officer whom he heard shouting.

Maan went to them. They stood up seeing Maan coming toward them.

"no need to stand up." Maan smiled. As they sit down Maan spoke " some one is missing from your group'"

"actually sir" one of them started to speak finishing his glass of drink " actually sir Colonel suspended Anwar for a few days."

Maan crunched his eyebrows "suspend? Why?"

"sir he was drunk yesterday.. and he was very upset about what Colonel did to the villagers' at mid night he shouted so many things before the flat of Colonel' so'."

"Hmm'" Maan cleared his throats " don't worry he'll be fine." Maan smiled and left for the corner where Geet was standing.

"Maan"

"hmm.."

"mujhe der ho rahi hai' ab jana chahiye.."

"thik hai.."

They came outside but it was raining heavily.

Geet: itni barish'.

Maan: aise me to hum ja bhi nahi ja sakte'[he thought for a moment] ek kaam karte hai samne hi mera flat hai.. waha pe chale?

Geet nodded.

After a few minutes they entered the flat. Both of them were wet. Maan put on the light and closed the door behind. Geet shivered hearing the sound of the door closing.

Slowly Maan came next to her and put his hand on her shoulder.

Geet: ap yahape akele rahte hai?

Maan: Haan..

Geet: Dar nahi lagta?

Maan: Kyu? Darna chahiye?

"sukria" Geet spoke in a very low tone.

"sukria kislie?"

"meri zindegi me an ene k liye." He felt rhythm of her heart against his chest. Maan curled his hands around his waist and drew her closer. His hands move along her back, then down to the curve of her hip which was layered in tight scale that felt every movement of his touch. His hand went up, tangled in her loose hair.

The Colonel left the party at mid night. The rain was not pouring heavily but not slowly. There was none in the road. He was walking fast. Suddenly a black SUV stopped blocking his road. A man came out of the SUV. The Colonel was going to say something but he was shocked to see the man.

Colonel: you?

The man: Pahechana'

The man didn't spare him a second. He put a gun on his head and pulled the trigger. The body hit the ground on it's face. The SUV left leaving it behind.
