Chapter XVIII
Misha walked out of the gallery whistling and leaving piya alone near her portrait. Piya was still thinking about what misha just said…. Was it all real? She had to talk to abhay? Did he feel the same way she felt? Were the feelings mutual? Has she really fallen in love with him? Did he also love her? There were so many questions and the only one who could give answers was abhay. She decided to ask him and clear everything before it turned something else. All of a sudden, she had found a pile of questions which had to be sorted out. Now it was TIME.
Piya went where abhay was still standing engrossed in his deep thoughts. Piya clicked her fingers to shake him out.
Piya: abhay…. I need to talk…. Could you please come with me…?
Abhay: fine…. Lead me where you wanna take me…. I am following….
Piya took abhay to the canopy outside the college in the garden.
Abhay: Madame…. What do you want to say? You literally dragged me here…. Come on open up now….
piya: what have you painted?
abhay: your potrait... so... some problem...
Piya: fine…. Without beating around the bush…. Just tell me…. That what do I mean to you?
Abhay: friend…
Piya: just that much….
Abhay: yeah…. I guess….
Piya: then why do I matter you the most…. More than your other friends…. And I feel so pulled to you, why?
Abhay: because you are my best friend…. That's it…
Piya: is it….
Abhay: okay…. Let me tell you…. It's just that you remind me of someone who is dear…. Of someone….
Piya (interrupted): someone…. Who….
Abhay (lied though it was very painful): of my girlfriend….
Piya (shocked): girlfriend…..
Abhay: yeah…. Her mane is liana…. Right now she is in France…. You remind of her…. She is just sweet like you….
Piya was hell shocked and shattered. She never expected that abhay could love someone else. She was burning with anger and jealousy and it was evident on her face though she tried to cover it hard. Her whole world was shattered in front of her eyes, her little bubble of happiness was now busted and it was heart wrenching. She wasn't able to understand that why was she feeling so. She must be happy for her friend but happiness was now miles far from her. It was all over now.
Abhay could see the inner turmoil going inside piya's mind. He was also hurting inside seeing the pain and anger in piya's eyes. Though she wasn't saying anything but he was easily seeing that she wasn't happy with his lie. But it was necessary to keep her as a friend only as it would keep her far yet close to him.
Piya: so when did this all happen? you never told me about all this….
Abhay: you never asked so….
Piya: when will I be able to meet her…? I would like to see that how much am I similar to her….
Abhay: a lot…. But let's see when it will happen….
Abhay never wanted to hurt piya but this was needed to keep her safe from him and from the supernatural world. If it was hurting piya 100 times then it was hurting abhay 1000 times more. But if love gives you pain then it also gives courage to bear the pain.
Piya didn't say a word more and slowly walked away. Abhay told aleena about all this telepathically and told her to handle piya well as she needed support now. Piya went to the green room with her fallen face where panchi, misha and Ruhi were gossiping. Ruhi came near piya to congratulate her.
Ruhi: piya…. You did a fabulous job….
Piya: thanks tracker….
Ruhi: piya…. Ek baat kahoon….Tum aur abhay saath mein kitne achche lagte ho…. Tum dono ko toh college ka most happening couple banana chahiye…. You guys are perfect…. Just made for each other….
Piya was now angry so she took out her anger over her: tracker…. Will you stop your nonsense…. We are not a couple…. Understand…. We are just plain friends…. Just friends…. So keep your mouth shut….
Misha, panchi and Ruhi to see piya's changed behavior. Piya was hurt and she was not in a state of facing someone. Her heart was broken so she ran away and went to the bus without even changing her clothes. The bus was empty and nobody was seen near. She went inside the bus and sat at the last seat and started crying bitterly.
Piya: why…. Why always… me…. I never find anything perfectly alright in my life…. First that my father abandoned me…. Then mom left me and now the one whom I considered mine is somebody else's…. why is god so harsh with me…. I don't know why I am feeling as if my world has ended…. My heart broken into 1000 pieces…. Why…. Why abhay…. why did you do this to me….
She cried for almost till she drifted to her sleep unknowingly. When everyone came inside the bus to return back to the resort, they found piya sleeping in the bus. They thought that she must be tired so she slept. But the truth was known to only two of them. Soon they reached back and Kabir took sleeping piya to her room and made her sleep on her bed comfortably.
In morning, piya woke up and her eyes were quite swollen as she had cried a lot. She got up and got ready to return back to dehradun. She took the necklace out of her neck and threw it into her handbag not even giving it a final glance. Today, the morning was quite different from other mornings because there was nothing that made piya excited. She was all low and cranky. She ordered her breakfast in her room and ate it half. She quickly packed her bags and went and sat in the bus alone. She thought to read the book which panchi gifted her so she started reading it. The initial chapters were interesting but nothing comforted her. She soon closed the book and kept it back. She took out her iPod and started listening the songs to calm herself.
Everyone came and took their places in the bus. Soon their journey to return dehradun started and it was silent which annoyed misha.
Misha: guys…. Chics and their boyfriends…. Stop choochi-cooing and let's play something….you all are so boring…
Panchi: haan let's play…. Something like… like antakshari….
Aleena: great….
Misha: so….its boys versus girls…. I know we will win… we have the singing superstars with us….
Kabir: oh yeah…
Misha: yeah….
Kabir: let's see….
Soon they started singing and laughing. Piya was east interested in all this but she still was trying to be part of it. Abhay could see the evident difference in piya's behavior and he was guilty about it. He was silently watching her continuously but she was trying to avoid looking into his eyes. He could see that she had cried a lot through her swollen eyes.
Everybody sang and enjoyed singing. Kabir sang 'babu rao mast hai' from once upon a time in Mumbai while misha sang 'bindaas' and Ruhi sang 'pee loon' from outim. Now it was piya's chance to sing.
Panchi: now piya….. It's your chance…. Come on sing now….
Piya: no… mera mood nahi hai….
Misha: birdie…. Abhay se bolo, who kahega toh zaroor gayegi…
Panchi: abhay…. ask piya to sing nah…
Abhay: piya… please sing for us…. For me…
Piya: fine… I surrender…
She had no mood to sing but she didn't want to become a spoil sport so she sang 'bin tere' from I hate luv storys…

Lost n lonely As the song ended, everyone clapped but this time it didn't make piya happy and content. Her voice was filled with pain and the song explained her feelings very well. It was so perfect for the situation. Though everyone liked it, but it had no meaning for piya and abhay could feel it. She just wanted to run somewhere where she was alone and happy. She wanted to be back in those precious moments she spent with abhay on the trip. They were her memories that she cherished and would cherish forever. Those were the golden moments of her life.
Piya was in her thoughts and was feeling jealous for that girl whom abhay loved. She must be so lucky that she got a passionate lover like him. If he was such a sweet friend then he would be a great lover also. She thought that she should stop thinking about all this and start a fresh friendship with him where they would be really plain friends. But why did she get carried away so much? Why only abhay had this impact on her? But all this needed a FULL STOP. She decided to go back dehradun and start her college with fresh and clean mind without any thoughts of last few days. But was this so simple?

So… finally… abhay turned the tables…. Now piya is so much in pain but she will fight back and will confront him….
My piya is total 'Jhansi ki rani' types…. And she will show her colors soon…. Let's hope for the best….
