Prologue

She wanted to live... love and to be loved... She didn't dream of making it big but wanted to make her parents proud and kept waiting for her Mr. Perfect to walk into her life to complete her... to complete her life... He walked into her life with all his glory... Not the one who could be swayed easily, he completely lost himself in her and she became his life... An ardent believer of all the epitome love-stories, she thought she had found her Ranjha in him only to make him roll his eyes at her... "You are GEET, GEET HANDA no Heer or Laila or Sohni or Juliet and I am MAAN, the MAAN SINGH KHURANA, no Ranjha or Majnu or Mahiwal or Romeo please!" he would chide... making her frown, "You can't be also... They were all sweet and you are as good as the Karela, woh bhi Neem Chada" she would quip!

They decided to make it official, "Maine faisla kar liya hai, hum jaldi hi shaadi kar lenge" he declared to her... she looked at him wide eyed and repeated the key word at the top of her voice, "SHAADII?" and a soft smile slowly lit her face... It all felt like a dream and she wished to spend the rest of her life in this dream with him...
It was all going smooth as they continued weaving countless dreams for their future until one fateful day when the bubble of their happiness burst... Ripping apart their hearts!
Encircled in the trap of her destiny, she waited for him to come and rescue her... But he didn't! He couldn't! He waited for her to return in his embrace where he would keep her secure... But she didn't! She couldn't!

Part 35

He was walking out of the Khurana Mansion when he felt a tug at his hand. He turned around to see Naintara looking at him in panic. Arjun sighed as he jerked her hand away and asked irritatedly, "What is it?". She blinked in confusion, "Aap itne calm kaise reh sakte hain? Ab toh Dadi Ma bhi Geet ke baare main poochne lagi hain" she asked in alarm. "Not again!" he muttered as he placed his hands on his waist and said, "Jab sochna aapke bas ka hi nahi, toh aap sochti kyun hain?" mocking her. "Arjun!" she snapped. "Dadi Ma ke kuch poochne se kuchnahi badalta... bekaar main apna aur mera waqt barbaad mat kijiye. This is my game and Geet would be my reward" he said dangerously. "Aapka dimag toh theek hai? Aap ab bhi us Geet ke baare main soch rahe hain? Aap apne saath saath humme bhi musibat main daal denge" she said heatedly.

"Musibat?" Anu's voice cut through the still of the night catching both Naintara and Arjun off guard. He glared at Naintara lethally as Anu approached them with a frown. "Geet ke baare main sochne se kaisi musibat aa sakti hai?" she asked quizzically as she came to stand by Arjun and placed a hand on his arm. Arjun's facial muscles looked tense as Naintara cowered under his glare while Anu looked on. Arjun then looked at Anu and smiled as best as he could, "Kuch nahi baby... Naintara toh bas mujhse yeh keh rahi thi ki humme Geet ko sagai main nahi bulana chahiye... Maan won't like it" he stated with conviction. Anu looked at them doubtfully as she wondered how did Naintara know that Geet would be there at the engagement and most importantly what did she know about Maan and Geet. Her frown deepened as she asked, "Lekin Geet ki wajah se aapko kya problem hogi?". Naintara fumbled with words, "woh... woh... Maan Veerji..." Arjun chuckled, "Tum toh Maan ka gussa jaanti ho na Anu... achcha batao... what brings you here?" Anu looked at Naintara and then back at Arjun as she said, "I just came by to wish you good night" Arjun smiles at her and glaring at Naintara walks into his car and drives off. Anu looked at a flustered Naintara and asked, "Bhabhi, is everything alright?" Naintara nods positively and giving her a nervous smile walked past her inside the mansion.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

She didn't know for how long she cried in his arms while he held her silently and gently stroked her hair, kissing the top of her head repeatedly to pacify her and assure her of his presence. He lost track of time but Geet's shoulders still shook and with her every sob he felt himself tearing apart. The last time she was in his arms before he left, she was full of life, loving and a bubbly girl but today when she was back in his arms after months of separation, an agonizing truth was seeping deep within him... the truth that she was no more the same Geet... the truth that something terrible shattered her in his absence. And the realization of the truth crumpled him. Who so ever was the reason for his Geet's destruction will have to pay! But right now his priority was Geet. When her cries reduced to muffled and breathless sobs, she pulled herself away and looked at him uncertainly for a moment before once again drawing her knees to her chest. She threw her head back and shut her eyes as she gave in to exhaustion and anguish. Drawing deep breaths she tried to compose herself, while Maan looked at her helplessly. He looked around once again for any signs of the two men. He drew a deep breath and momentarily shut his eyes as he felt the anger building within him once again. He shouldn't have left her alone at all. It was all his fault! He shook his head and turned his attention back to her. Her eyes were shut but her tears relentlessly followed a glistening wet track on her cheeks. And he could feel his heart shredding as he watched her blazing in the fire of a misery he was so alien to. She refused to share her pains with him and her abandonment was killing him. As if by a will of its own, his hand moved forward to rest on her shoulder as he gently called her once more, "Geet".

Geet had withdrawn herself from him once again. She didn't have it in her now to let him walk into the crevices of her heart and her past. She had accepted her fate... her solitude... his indifference and now she willed to keep things that way. So when she heard his voice beckoning her, she breathed, "I'm fine". Fluttering her eyes open, she gulped once and looked straight ahead as she avoided to look at him and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. She drew a deep breath as she made an attempt to rise to her feet. He rose as well. "Kaun the woh log Geet? Kya kaha un logon ne tumse?" he asked her when he saw her taking a step forward. She stopped but didn't say a word. "Geet... please..." he began but she cut him off. "I'm sorry for that" she whimpered. "Don't shut me out Geet" he pleaded with her wary of her abrupt distanced behavior and her apology which casted him as an outsider in her world. "Aapne Veerji se kaha tha ki aap mujhe ghar drop kar denge... if you are busy I shall take a cab" she said completely ignoring his plea as she walked out of the parking lot thereby shutting any scope of further discussion that she knew he was heading onto. His shoulders slumped in resignation for he knew no amount of coaxing at the moment was going to make her speak and so he eventually strode behind her. There was no way on this earth that he was going to let her be by herself now.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Anu paced around her room restlessly. Something was bothering her. Something was just not as right and she could feel it. Yet she couldn't quite put a finger on what exactly was bothering her. After meeting Dadi Ma and her, Arjun had gone to meet her parents and later when she was descending the stairs she had seen him walking out of the mansion. She ran behind him to see him off and saw her standing with Naintara. When she neared them, she had heard Naintara mentioning Geet to Arjun and when she enquired they both had fallen quiet. She couldn't comprehend why Arjun was discussing Geet with Naintara. And the nervous look on the otherwise egotistical and pompous Naintara was something Anu couldn't absorb well. It was nothing big... she didn't want to think about it but her brains were conjuring up disturbing thoughts. Were Arjun and Naintara hiding something?

Arjun had changed a lot in the course of past one year. Initially, she attributed the turn of events to his professional worries but nothing changed. He would avoid her... snap at her every now and then... but then would apologize for his behavior and she would forgive him. She loved him. And if Geet could handle Maan Veerji's ministrations, anger and attitude why couldn't she... After all she had seen Maan getting upset with Geet innumerable times. She had seen Maan scolding Geet or snapping at her. So what if Arjun did the same? If Geet never complained then why should see? That's how she felt or at least that's how she would reason with herself. But then deep within, she knew what Maan and Geet shared was way too wholesome than what she shared with Arjun. She also knew that Maan's anger arose out of his instincts of protectiveness... he never avoided her or ignored her no matter where he was and whom he was with. Yet Anu tried to keep her faith in Arjun and their relationship intact. Geet was the only one who knew about them and for some reason she never approved to Arjun but Anu accredited her apprehension to her concern for her. Later on, no matter what Anu did to please him he would always find faults in her. She went to States for the attending that finance workshop only because he wanted her to go, even though her heart laid in humanities. But she thought her approval of his decisions for her would make him happy. And then when she came back, she was in for a rude shock when Arjun abruptly broke up with her without providing her with any explanations. And then as abruptly he had left, he came back begging her to take him back. She was shocked, hurt and bruised but then he was the guy she had entrusted her heart to and so she decided to give him a second chance.

And since then things were smooth between them or she was trying hard to believe that. At the outset when she would speak of Geet, Arjun was fully supportive of her... he was ready to help her... and then one fine day he yelled at her saying she was giving too much importance to her... So she stopped talking to him about Geet... and then he's hiring detectives to find her... why didn't he tell her that Geet was missing from when she was in US and Dadi Ma had asked him to go look for her... what did he say to Naintara about Geet and why? And why would Geet's coming to her engagement would create troubles for Naintara? Nothing was making sense to her... or was she just thinking too much into the matter, she chided herself. It must be her nerves she defended herself as she felt bad for even letting any judgements corrupt her thoughts about Arjun. "So ja Anu... tera dimag kuch zyada hi chalne laga hai" she thought grumpily as she fell back on her bed and dug her face in her pillows.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Silence was not always bliss. It stung... it pained... it hurt... yet he could do nothing to get her to speak. It was after days that she was occupying the rightful place in his life... she was seated beside him but the distance that had manifested in between them was more than the length of the skies and the expanse of the oceans. He didn't know how to reach her. As she sat in his car in the passenger seat, she had shut her eyes in an attempt to calm her raging emotions. She couldn't afford Pammi or Adi looking at her like this. It would break their heart and Geet would do nothing that would bring them pain. But along with them, by shutting her eyes she blocked him out of her view too... she was shutting him out as well and he knew that.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"What the heck did I pay you for? How difficult would it have been to trace a girl?" He barked into the phone. "There's information for you" the man on the other line answered. "What?" he sneered. "Your doubts about Ms. Geet Handa being in Mumbai are correct. She had boarded the Indian Airlines flight from Delhi to Mumbai the very next day she went missing" the man on the other line filled in as Arjun's eyes turned into slits. "Sir... u there?" the man on the other line asked. "Yes!" he snapped. "Sir we have already tranffered this case to our Mumbai branch" the detective personnel updated him again. Arjun snapped his phone shut. His dangerous glare reflected his dark and sinister thoughts but then he threw his head back and laughed menacingly, "My obsession is my love Geet... lets see how far you run"

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

He drove through the dark roads but at this moment he couldn't fix on what was darker... the darkness of the night or the darkness that engulfed their lives. He passed her fleeting glances not knowing where to begin a conversation from. Her eyes seemed shut but he would be a fool if he believed that her mind was as quiet. The tranquility of her features did nothing to hide the storm that was stirring inside her. And much to his predicament she denied him an access to that storm... she kept him at the bay when all he could think about was to sink in the storm, fight her demons and suck up the pain to rescue the Geet he had fallen in love with. The shrill ringing of her phone brought him out of his reverie as Geet snapped her eyes open with a start. He watched her fiddling in her bag for her phone and a faint smile crept on his lips. A moment later, she answered the call trying to sound as composed as possible, "Maasi ji... I'm on my way... meri awaz ko? (Fumbling) kya hua meri awaz ko... nahi Maasi ji... I wasn't crying... why would i? aap fikar mat karo main theek hoon... would be home in 15 minutes" saying she disconnected the call.

"Rano aunty and Adi's mom were sisters?" she heard him ask. Without looking at him she nodded her head in positive as she grunted, "hmm" with that she closed her eyes again letting her head fell back on the head rest of the car. "Geet..." he softly called her but she didn't respond. "Geet we need to talk" he said tenderly. She opened her eyes, sat straight and looked at him but didn't utter a word. "Geet... say something" he urged her desperately. "Gadi rok ye" she said completely ignoring his request and added, "mera ghar aa gaya hai sir". Geet's voice was detached yet determined and her words meant much more than they were intended to. The cold voice pierced through his heart as he brought the car to a sudden halt. She was implying that their journey together had ended and his fears were confirmed. She opened her side of the door as he kept watching her expectantly. She turned back, looked into his eyes and replied to his previous query, "It's too late" saying that she stepped out of his car as Maan looked on too stunned to react. And before he could stop her, she had walked into the residential complex gates.

Sighing heavily he kept looking at the huge iron gates fervently hoping that she would turn back... if only once. Her faint floral fragrance still lurked in the car and he inhaled sharply to savour and absorb her perfume into his senses as he consciously allowed himself to drift down the memory lane of their beautiful past.

Flashback

Geet's phone, buried somewhere in the mess of her college bag, rang incessantly as Geet settled herself in the passenger seat beside him holding a take away of strawberry shake in one hand and managing the bag in other. He sighed trying to reach out for the milkshake to help her but she pulled back. "I'm not interested in that strawberry milkshake. I was just offering to help" he said exasperated. She frowned, "who in their sane mind wouldn't be interested in such a delicious refreshment? I don't trust you with it" she snapped as her phone continued to ring. He rolled his eyes as she balanced the container on the dashboard while she unzipped the bag and muttered, "pata nahi kaun hai... do minute ruk nahi sakte... baba ji ab yeh phone kahan gaya?" she wondered as she started to fiddle in her bag for the phone. And no sooner had she begun... one after the other all the contents of her bag were struggling to find space on the small board as he looked on in amusement. "Khotta kahin ka... pata nahi kahan gaya" she mumbled. Her wallet, an apple, a bar of chocolate, a romantic fiction, a small vanity case were now placed near the milkshake container. He flinched slightly at the sight of the book... mills and books precisely while she finally found her phone and smiled as she received it, "Haan Anu... don't worry I have got it and will hand it over to Maan. Unse le lena"

By now, he had started to drive the car and looked at her at the mention of his name as he gave her a hard glare while she sipped on her milkshake. "Don't worry he won't say a word" she said as she glared right back at him. Maan knew when Geet was so persistent his battle was lost and so he looked straight ahead trying to concentrate on the road. Geet smiled and bid Anu adieu before she turned to Maan. "You don't have to act grumpy all the time. It's not our fault that you forgot to take out the copy of Mills and Boons from your presentation file." She complained... now putting back the stuff in her bag. "Do you need to remind me of that?" he asked irritated then snapping his head at her, "and what's wrong with you girls? Don't you find something better than to read other those obscene novels" he asked completely miffed. Her jaws fell open, "Chi chi... main aur Anu aisi waisi books padte hain?" she asked offended. He groaned. He shot her another glance before roughly pulling the book and putting aside the external book cover to reveal a picture of a couple engrossed in the act right on its cover page and flashing it in her face he asked, "How would you define this?" Her face turned red in embarrassment just like his had reddened in mortification in the board room.

Anu and Geet had developed a habit of passing things to each other through Maan. Though he didn't mind it initially but carrying lip-glosses, nail polishes, romantic novels to and fro on a daily basis was no fun job. He didn't understand why he had to play a courier boy when the girls anyways met once in every 2-3 days. Yet they insisted and though he could bully Anu... it was practically impossible to bully Geet. She would threaten him, blackmail him and eventually would get her way with him. And today morning when Anu had asked Maan to handover some fiction to Geet... knowing he had no choice he had simply taken it with him and since he was in a hurry... while he was speaking on the phone, he had slipped the fiction into the presentation folder. His embarrassment knew no bounds when the copy accidently slipped through the folder and fell open revealing a couple in bed in front of the clients in the presence of Viren who looked at him strangely. There were muffled giggles in the room leaving him red faced. He bit back his embarrassment as he kept his charade of being unaffected on and continued. And if that was not enough, both the perpetrators had had a nice laugh at his expense.

Geet giggled once again but when he shot her a dangerous look she checked herself instantly. His facial muscles were strained and she knew he was still annoyed. She smiled genuinely now as she held his hand and kissed it. He jerked it away. She smiled again and leaned in to now softly peck his shoulder. He glared at her and dusted off his shoulder, brushing off the kiss. Her jaw fell open in surprise, but smirking to herself she started soothing his jaws with her feather light touch and finally eased her seatbelt to peck him lightly all over his cheek. Finally his muscles relaxed. He shook his head at her and smiled before pulling the car sideways off the road. He turned towards her and smiled. "mujhe pata tha ki aap mujhse zyada der tak naraz nahi reh sakte" she said assertively., "Hmm and you end up taking undue advantage of this knowledge" he accused her. "Main? Maine kya kiya?" she asked innocently. He squinted his eyes at her when she sipped on her milkshake once again and made a face when she realized the container is empty. He chuckled at her childishness and then smiled, "yehi toh problem hai... ki tumhe kuch karne ki zaroorat hi nahi padti... you do everything by just being yourself" and cupping her jaw he placed a small peck on her forehead and then rubbed his thumb over her upper lip wiping the thin film of milkshake off her lips. He looked at her steadily as he took the thumb to his lips and licked it off. "You were right, the drink was refreshing" she gasped and turned a bright shade of red as she turned away from him to look outside the window. He smirked as he looked at the copy of Mills and Boons once again and then leaned in to fasten her seatbelt for her and as soon as he was back on the road, her phone started buzzing once again and she again began to fiddle with the contents of her bag. "Women!" he sighed out aloud as she whimpered and pouted while her hands continued to dig inside her bag. He laughed heartily and pulled her close.

Back to Present

The honking of another car right behind his brought him out of his reverie and he realized he was jamming the narrow street. Turning the ignition key he drove away but not before passing a fleeting glance over to vacant seat beside him. He missed her.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Anu was brushing her hair when her phone buzzed. Leaning over the bed post she picked up the call and was pleasantly surprised to see Maan's name flashing on her caller id. Instantly she took the call, "Veerji" she said with a lump in her throat. This was in weeks that Maan was calling her himself. Ever since their difference in opinions about Geet, the conversations between them had gone strained. While Maan wanted Anu to see his view... Anu wanted Maan to once think coolly by putting aside his anger. As adorable and charming as Anu was... she was after all Anahita Khurana... grandchild of Savitri Devi Khurana... daughter of the Viren Singh Khurana and sister of Maan Singh Khurana. She had inherited the same will, strength of character and stubbornness as Maan. But unlike Maan she didn't act on impulses. She trusted her loved ones without any doubt. But at the same time she knew to stand her grounds and she did when she knew she was right. And though a sudden painful distance had crept its way between her and her Maan Veerji, she stayed adamant and persistent. Her stance had deterred the conversations between Maan and her and so now when she saw Maan calling her... her happiness new no bounds. She knew he would call.

"I'm sorry Bachchi" he said a little too fast and Anu chuckled. Sorry was not a word Maan Singh Khurana was comfortable with. "Hmm... so abhi aap maante ho na ki meri Geet kuch galat nahi kar sakti" she said while she sniffed and wiped the tear that escaped her eye with the back of her hand. Even though he himself felt emotionally charged, he couldn't help but chuckle at his little sister's self-assured tone. "Haan... main maanta hoon ki tu aur teri Geet... dono hamesha se sahi the" he answered her with a small smile on his lips. "Welcome Back Veerji. I missed you" Anu finally broke into a soft sobs. "shh.. shh.. Anu... Don't cry bachchi... you don't need to welcome me... I was not thinking with a sane mind but I never left your side gudiya... chup ho ja" he tried to soothe her while he himself felt his throat constricting. "Sorry se kuch nahi hoga... you would have to compensate" Anu pouted as she said conceitedly. Maan smiled, "I have hurt people who have been closest to my heart... I know I need to make amends." he said repentantly. Anu smiled, "she'll come around Veerji. I know her. Woh bhi zyada der aapse naraz nahi reh payegi" she assured him. Maan smiled and shook his head and not wanting to voice his fears on this matter he said changing the topic, "we are beginning the preparations for our princess' engagement. Its going to be spectacular one" Anu blushed, "thank you Veerji and I love you... aur ek baat... don't be too worried about your madam... main aa rahi hoon na... main sab theek kar doongi" she said with an air of confidence. Maan smiled at her enthusiasm and disconnected the line. One of the broken chords had been restored. If only it was so easy with her too.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"Geet tu batayegi kal raat ko kya hua?"
Pinky asked in exasperation. Geet had walked in late last night and had got an earshot from Pammi but it was Pinky whose eyes Geet refused to meet. Adi managed to calm his mother and rescue Geet as she left to her room and lied by attributing the redness of her eyes to tiredness but Pinky who was now aware of the other part of the story keenly watched her from a distance. She was there beside Geet and asked her if everything was fine. She didn't tell her anything about letting Maan know of Geet's marital status but wanted to know it from her if Maan mentioned anything about it. But Geet had quickly slipped into the covers as she shut her stinging eyes. And now she was trying to gauge her reactions but Geet was being adamant again. "Kuch bhi nahi hua tha Bhabhi... he just dropped me home" she said. Pinky eyes her dubiously, "You mean he didn't ask you about your single status" she frowned. Geet snapped her head in Pinky's direction, "He knows?" she asked in a hushed urgent voice. "I told him last night" Pinky admitted. Geet looked at her incredulously but before she could say anything they heard Adi calling them to hurry as they were getting late to work. Pinky left leaving an astounded Geet behind.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"Veerji, aap kal raat ghar nahi aaye... sab theek hai na?" Vicky asked carefully. Maan looked up from the screen of his laptop and said, "Sab theek hai Vicky. Anu ki sagai ki theme and dcor ke baare main mujhe details chahiye... Event manager ke saath aaj dopahar ki meeting fix kar do" he said. Vicky momentarily shut his eyes, "Veerji, the event managers are coming in today anyways. And don't try to dodge my question. Aapki Geet se koi baat hui?" he asked precisely. Maan sighed, "Vicky I'll speak to her today. She was too tired yesterday." Vicky shook his head and was about to leave when Maan called him, "Vicky... ask the administrators to get me the list of all the delegates who attended the conference yesterday. Especially the ones from Mumbai. I want to know who was that man with Geet." Vicky nodded and left his cabin. As soon as Vicky left, Maan closed the screen of his laptop and resting his elbows on the table he leaned forward thoughtfully. Picking up the receiver he punched in the extension and asked the security personnel on duty last night to come to his cabin immediately.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Geet came to the hotel and was congratulated by everyone for doing a fabulous job of arranging and managing the conference. Adi and Pinky were proud of her achievement. Geet smiled politely at them but her mind was elsewhere. She needed to find her way to Hoshiarpur and that too soon but Teji still had some work in town before he would go back home. If Pammi got a hint of what she was upto, she was scared that then it would be impossible for her to leave. And now Maan was on his toes. She knew after seeing her so vulnerable last night and getting to know the truth about her so-called-marriage he's not going to sit back. But could she let him know everything? No! not yet! She needed to fight her battle herself and besides she was not going to let herself hope and relive. Neither did she have that strength to take that risk again nor would she be the cause of Sameera's heartbreak. She knew how it felt when a heart broke. But how long will she be able to withhold herself? How would she escape him?

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"Woh admi jisse tumne kal raat ko hotel main aane se mana kiya tha, kaun tha woh?" he asked the security personnel. "Sir he was some... Tej... Teji... Teji Singh. He was asking for Geet madam" the guy replied. Maan's hands balled into fist as he remembered Geet's defenseless form when he had found her in the basement parking. "What was the issue, why was there a commotion near the entrance?" he asked. "Sir, I thought I'll contact Geet madam and ask her first but he was just not ready to wait. Unke paas koi photo identity proof bhi nahi tha" the guard explained. Maan grunted in response and dismissed the guard.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

She thought she was becoming a pro at her game of avoiding him but now standing in front of his cabin door she realized how wrong she was. She was afterall walking in his area of dominance. She could avoid Maan... but could she avoid Maan Singh Khurana? Apparently the man had asked the accounts team to not clear the bills of the previous night's conference till he approved them. And so Adi had send the bills to her and asked her to take Maan Sir's approval before sending it for clearance. She scoffed as she waited for his instructions to come in but when she knocked twice and no response came, she peeped in and at once relaxed when she realized that he was not there. She entered the cabin. But her relief was short-lived for as soon as she kept the file on his desk, she heard the click of the latch on the door and knew it was him. She didn't turn but a moment later she felt a tug at her elbow and was forcibly turned her around.

"Tum jaanti ho ki tum mujhse nahi chup sakti" his whispered gravely. She tried to step aside but he slid his hand around her waist and pulled her back. She gasped. "I know you didn't marry anyone" he said. "So?" she said. He looked at her incredulously. "Why didn't you tell me?" he asked as his fingers dug in her waist. She gulped, "You have a present and future Maan Sir. Then why delve into my past?" He pulled her close and hissed, "Your past? And I thought it was ours..." Turning her head she said without a hint of remorse, "Just a few days back I was asked to never mention 'us' and I'm simply complying". Maan shook his head, "I was angry... gusse main tha main... kissi aur ka tumhari zindagi main hone ka khayal bardaasht nahi ho raha tha mujhse. I was hurt... ki jisse maine itna pyar kiya who itni asani se mujhe chod kar chali gayi... ke tumne ek baar mujhe yeh bhi nahi bataya ki meri galati kya thi... bolo Geet... tell me... where did I go so wrong?" he desperately urged her to speak. "I didn't know Geet..." he began again but she stopped him. "Why are you talking about this now? It doesn't matter anymore." she said firmly. His pleading eyes grew intense again, "It doesn't matter? Are you implying that what we shared once holds no meaning for you today? That you don't love me?" his voice was strained as he shook her shoulders. She looked in his eyes and replied firmly, "No!". His hold on her tightened as he flipped her dupata aside and held out the chain she was wearing, "Then how would you justify this?" he asked aggravated. She gasped as she was caught off guard. She didn't know that he knew about it. However, instantly recovering from the shock she composed herself as she smirked, "achcha kiya aapne yaad dila diya... I'll remove it right away" her hands shook as she tried to make it towards her nape to unclasp the chain. The extent of her denial enraged him as he pulled her hands back preventing her from taking it off. "Nothing matters, is it?" he asked her lethally. She shook her head in defiance vehemently. "Let us see then" said that he clutched her both the hands behind her back with his one hand and the other held her around her nape as he slammed his lips on hers. Geet's eyes widened at the sudden assault and she squirmed to free herself but his grip restrained her movements. The more she protested the more his resolve firmed. He nibbled on her lower lip urging her to submit to the will of not only his heart but hers as well. The kiss conveyed his need for her... the anguish of separation... the desperation of the moment and most importantly his undying love for her. His passionate resolve was churning the emotions she had turned away from. It was intoxicating and urging her to give into the moment. And slowly, her protests dissolved as she kissed him back. He let her hands go which gradually found slid past his shoulders and made their way into his hair.

Tears fell from her eyes as she pulled his head closer urging him to deepen the kiss and letting him take the lead as she let go off the pain momentarily. As his tongue slipped between her lips, he savoured the moment like a parched man would savour every single drop of water and treasure it considering it the most precious gift from the heavens.

When they finally broke off breathless, he rested his forehead against hers as he placed his hands on the either side of her face. He gently sucked her tears and pulled her in his arms to cradle her in his protectiveness and whispered against her ears, "It still doesn't matter Geet?" Geet's eyes snapped open as actuality came down crashing on her. She pushed him away, "No! it doesn't matter... it doesn't" she turned away from him to hide the mayhem of feelings that was crushing her insides. He was taken aback by the sudden hostility as his hands turned into fists and he stiffened once again. Her rejection wasn't hurting him as much but the fact that she was suffering all by herself hurt him more. He could never see a tear in her eye and here she was tearing her eyes out and he had no knowledge of whatsoever happened behind his back. He knew what he was doing when he had kissed her. He wished to make her realize that she still could feel the warmth of their love and give her a hope of a future he knew she was not ready to look at. He wished she would open up to him. He wouldn't have cared if she would have yelled at him or cursed him but her silence was overbearing him. However, his attempt had been wasted.

She was about to walk away when he said with finality, "I give you a last choice Geet, either you tell me or else I'll find it on my own" he warned. "You would never get to it" she confidently replied with tears in her eyes. He smirked as he walked upto her and held her waist from behind and leaning in close to her ear said, "Of course I can. I'll be damned if I let you walk away this time (brushing his lips over the shape of her ear)... I'll leave for Hoshiarpur tomorrow and..." before he could continue he felt her fingers clutch on his arm over her waist and she turned around to face him with an overwhelming force. With wide eyes clouded with fear, she clutched his upper arm and said firmly, "You are not going there! You'll never go there!"

loved the update... aww the small flashback was adorable..! Geet-Anu using him as a courier for lipsticks, nailpolish😆.. and the M&B office fiasco😆 too cute..

Felt really sad for Anu, that she actually realizes how different her relationship with Arjun is from what Maan and Geet share.. even though she does not know the truth, what her instincts tell her must be so painful.. hope Geet gets to meet her soon.. love their friendship.

The kiss was absolutely beautiful. when it came, how it came, perfect.

Just cannot wait for the next part. Thanks for the pm and for posting such lengthy updates.
