"Please Arjun⦠aap⦠aap bhool jaiye usse⦠Anu⦠Anu ke baare main sochiyeā¦" she tried to persuade him. He smirked in response. "Anu? Arjun Singh Rathod bekaar logon ke baare main soch ke waqt barbaad nahi karta Naintara⦠(glaring at her) This is my game⦠and Anu is a pawn⦠Don't try to spoil it for your gains my dear sister⦠(Smirking) My obsession is my love⦠and no matter what is takes, she would be mine⦠and if she wouldn't be mine⦠(pause and his voice dropping to a lethal whisper) then I won't live to be anyone else's" His face showed determination while Naintara was visibly anxious.
Standing by the door, Anu's shocked eyes glistened with unshed tears while Yash's fingers were balled into fist. At that moment all her fears and anxieties stood alive, tall and abreast in front of her⦠ready to walk over her dreams of happiness that she had endearingly wished to live with the man she loved. Yash was about to enter the study with an intention to thrash him around when Anu held his wrist and shook her head in disapproval. Turning around, taking a step back she wiped those treacherous tears that had made their way down her cheeks and plastered a smile on her face. Yash looked at her concerned, "Anu?" he called. Putting her hand forward she whispered, "Not now". And then she turned back to the study and knocked.
Arjun and Naintara were startled to see Anu standing by the door. Naintara faltered and was about to offer explanation when Arjun noticed the smile on Anu's face and stopped Naintara in mid-sentence. "Anu, baby⦠tum yahan?" Arjun proceeded towards her. "Haan woh⦠aap dono ko sab puja ke liye neeche bula rahe hain⦠panditji is here." Arjun nodded his head while Naintara fidgeted with her saree pallu as they hurriedly left the study. Perplexed, Yash looked at Anu⦠who whispered painfully, "Not now" and walked out of the study. Bewildered and enraged, Yash followed Anu.

Sasha and Geet were discussing something when Geet's phone buzzed. She apologized and with the intention to drop the call, pulled the phone out but the when she saw Gurvinder's name flashing on her caller id, her eyes widened. Flustered, she looked at Sasha and excusing herself, hurriedly left the cabin.
Sasha looked on confused as she stared at Geet's retreating back.

Anu sat beside Arjun for the Puja but there was nothing left for her to pray for. It was all over. Over? She thought to herself and smirked, there didn't seem to be anything in the first place for it to get over. Yet she sat⦠yet she looked at the divine idol in front of her seeking answers⦠answers she knew she would have to find out⦠answers she knew she had a cue on⦠"main bekaar ke logon ke baare main soch ke apna waqt barbaad nahi karta" his words echoed in her ears and pierced deep in her heart. There was no need of any clarifications⦠no explanations were to be sort⦠but yes⦠there were a few well guarded facts that were waiting to be discovered...
Sitting beside Arjun, Anu scanned his face⦠the face she had love so dearly⦠the handsome features that made her heart skip a beat⦠the person⦠she thought was her soul-mate⦠she scanned his face to look for visible cracks but couldn't help marveling at the impeccable faade he had adorned⦠he turned to her and smiled at her warmly⦠but for the first time Anu noticed the lack of affection and the hint of mockery in that smile. She smiled back⦠but he missed the darkness that had descended in her eyes. She cringed when Arjun touched Dadi Ma's feet and promised her that he'll take care of her grand-daughter always, for she knew there was no always⦠for she now knew this was a farce. She watched as he chatted with her parents⦠with her brother⦠all jovial and kind. And for the first time she could see through his pretenses. She gaped at Arjun's capability to produce blatant lies without any traces of regret or remorse.
Yash remained by her side and watched the drama that was being put up in the Khurana mansion. He watched as the prospective groom mocked the people present around. He watched when he shared knowing glances with Naintara⦠and he watched when Anu looked at him helplessly every now and then⦠No one could, but he most definitely could see her heart breaking into million pieces. He turned his head away when he found himself incapable of watching a vivacious girl wither in a matter of moments, as her dreams crumbled against the cruel reality that was mercilessly being unleashed upon her. He was disgusted by what he had heard⦠it wasn't clear as to what game Arjun was referring to but one thing he was sure of⦠that Anu was being used here! He watched her trying to conceal the state of her heart from everyone in the room⦠he saw her fighting an inner battle⦠he saw the play of emotions in her eyes as it contrasted the display she presented superficially but failed to understand the workings of her mind. He didn't understand why she was so quiet or why she stopped him from ripping the deceitful mask off Arjun's face⦠But he knew that he would have to wait⦠wait for Anu to speak her mind and then decide the course of action.

Maan sat near the bar chugging the golden liquid down his throat. He remembered her smiling at him⦠he remembered her spirited eyes beckoning him. He had been a fool to deny her, when she was the drug he needed to live on.
He wanted to tell her he was back⦠he wanted to punish all those who had hurt her⦠he wanted to take her in his arms and take away her pain⦠but he didn't know how⦠the paths that led his way to her were severed⦠and he had no one but himself to blame⦠yet he knew there was no way he could let her go⦠hope that one day he'll redeem himself to get her back held his sanity from lapsing off. But the pain was excruciating⦠excruciating for today he was living not only his pain but hers too⦠he was being swallowed by guilt. He had asked her to trust him and inturn she had expressed her inability to do so⦠it had hit him hard⦠suddenly he was left cold and barren⦠the nasty things he had told her reverberated in his ears. Her words came back to haunt him⦠the dark pits of despair were consuming him⦠After their initial meeting⦠he kept his eyes on her⦠but she kept on her charade⦠when he addressed her in the lobby on the pretext of some work, she refused to look at him in the eye⦠and once when their eyes met⦠he was unable to cope up the loss of emotions in her gaze that entrapped him.
When the sting surged, instead of walking back to his cabin, that evening he made his way to the club and took to the bar. The sense of his surroundings evaded him but the pain didn't. The blinding lights and deafening music were shut off his senses but try as hard as he might, shutting his eyes wouldnt shut out her image. In a flash, he poured another drink down his throat as he remembered her crying in the state of unconsciousness. How much time lapsed, he didn't know. It was when he called for another drink, Vicky, who was tipped about Maan by the bar manager, held his hand and urged him to stop.
As he took a few steps forward, his legs trembled. Vicky lurched in his direction to steady him when he pushed him again and flinging his coat over his shoulder he tried to get to the entrance. But then he stumbled and was about to trip when a pair of soft hands held him by his shoulders. His hands went to her waist as he straightened himself and look into the soft hazels that were filled with concern. A small smile appeared on his lips as even though he was thick with the effect of the liquor, the fact that at this precise moment she was worried for him registered into his mind. Involuntarily, his hold on her tightened, "Please Sir" she urged him as she came to his side helping him to stand upright. His smile wiped off but he didn't object when she supported him. "Maine bola toh nahi suna" Vicky muttered under his breath. As she supported Maan with her arm around him, she looked at Vicky. Rushing to her side, Vicky tried to help her but Maan shrugged his hand off. Geet held him again and he didn't protest. Vicky gaped at Maan, "Hadd ho gayi yaar" he muttered again. Geet momentarily shut her eyes. She didn't know whether she should be sad or angry ā Sad because he was pushing himself to extreme levels and angry because he was wasting himself when he was capable of so much more.
Geet and Adi were waiting in the lobby area for Pinky to come by when they heard the commotion from the alley that led towards the bar area. They looked at each other confused and then Geet saw Vicky stepping out of the alley towards the lobby area and gasped at the sight in front of her. "Maan" she called out when she saw him about to trip over and in no time she ran to him preventing him to hit the hard floor. What she missed was her brother's baffled gaze as he looked at the scene in front of him.
"Sir!" she exclaimed as she looked around at the audience of this commotion. He immediately looked up glaring, "Leave!" he barked causing everyone to run for their lives. Vicky stood behind looking for something to smash his Veerji's head before he came in front and tried again, "Ghar chaliye Veerji"⦠He kept his hold around Geet's waist firm but yelled at Vicky, "Mujhe kahin nahi jaana"⦠"Veerji please, sab dekh rahe hain" Vicky pleaded. He glowered, "I'm the boss here. And people are paid to work! Throw them out who are busy being spectators" he slurred and a few of the staffers who hid in the crevices watching the events unfold fled from the scene too. Vicky rolled his eyes.
"Why are you hurting yourself?" he heard her ask and turned to her side. "Tumhe nahi pata? I⦠I deserve this Geet⦠Meri Mishty⦠Mishty mujhpe bharosa nahi karti⦠I⦠I deserve this pain" he said painfully. Hearing him call her Mishty after so long stirred her deeply as she remembered the bygone days of their togetherness. And for once found her resolve weakening. "Don't do this⦠Please don't do this to yourself" she begged. He stepped in front of her and cupped her face, "Wapas aa jao⦠Please Geet⦠I need youā¦" he urged sincerely. She shook her head, "Aap⦠aapko ghar jana chahiye" she said sternly. His expressions became rigid too. "Then its not your problem⦠I'll do what I want to" he said and slammed his fist into the wall. Adi looked wide eyed from Geet to Maan, while Geet snapped as she held his hand, "ENOUGH!"
And then for a moment, no one spoke⦠Maan gaped at her. So did Vicky, Adi and Pinky who had by now come to stand beside her husband. Momentarily shutting her eyes, Geet whisked her head to look at Maan, "Bohut ho gaya! Ab aap kuch nahi bolenge" she said in a warning tone. "Geetā¦" he started again. But she was hurt and on her wits end with him, "Koi bhi problem ko solve karne ka yeh kaunsa tareeka hai?" and shrugged his hands off. Adi looked on as he realized he was missing something here while Vicky looked at her in awe as she took control over the situation and in one single moment managed to tame down the roaring beast. Calling Vicky, she gestured him towards the rooms.
Vicky ordered one of the staff men to open the vacant suite for Maan. Struggling with his weight, she helped him through the corridor and in the elevator. His breathe smelled liquor and Geet cringed at it. Vicky was by their side. Pinky clung to Adi's arm as she stopped him from following them.
Geet was angry at Maan for playing with his life like this. Her heart throbbed painfully watching the man who represented dignity, strength and valor trembling and wavering like this. She could not watch him like that. Watching the indomitable Maan Singh Khurana being conquered by the misery that their life had become was agonizing yet she knew she was vulnerable. Cascaded by the perils that her fate had forced upon her, she was inept to provide him the respite he was seeking. There was war inside her and a battle awaited for her to enter the periphery and strike to fight for justice. He wanted her to stay while justice being her calling, didn't provide her with the luxury to stay behind. She needed to go. She had to leave. He stumbled again breaking her trance. She immediately clutched the white walls of the lobby to break their fall.
Once in the room, Geet eased him onto the bed while Vicky removed his shoes and covered him with the quilt. She was about to leave when he held her hand, "Mat jao" he requested her. Vicky gave her an understanding nod before quietly leaving the room to both of them. She shut her eyes and sat back on the bed beside him submitting to his will. He shifted and placed his head on her lap and held her hand. She didn't stop him. She didn't have the will to stop him then. "Mujhe tumhari baat sun ni chahiye thi" he said while she just sat listening to him. She knew what he was referring to. But there was another battle that was raging within her. His proximity was weakening her resolve. She wondered whether she was doing the right thing. Yet she didn't realize when her hand travelled to his forehead and she was patting him. "Mujhe pata hona chahiye tha meri mishty kabhi galat nahi ho sakti" his voice was laced with remorse and guilt. Geet stroked his hair and shut her eyes as she tried to absorb his pain. Then she felt his touch on her cheek and she realized he was wiping her tears. "Mujhe tumhare saath ho na chahiye tha" he said.
"So jaiye Maan" she whispered to him but avoided his gaze. "Mishty" he called her ever so lovingly. She smiled a little as she heard him call her that. "Mishty" an endearment⦠he was the sole proprietor to. Only he could call her that. She remembered how much she used to love the sound of it. And how he used to use that to his advantage⦠to pamper her or to pacify her⦠giving into the moment, she looked down at him and smiled. But the smile didn't reach her eyes and though he was drunk, he noticed it for he raised his hand and rubbed his thumb over her dry lips. Holding on to his hand, she kissed it and said, "Kitna kuch badal gaya na Maan⦠Aap do mahino ke liye gaye aur sab badal gaya⦠sab khatam ho gaya" she said somberly. He held her hand and dug his face in her lap, "Sab theek ho jayega Geet⦠Hum sab kuch phir se shuru karengeā¦" he said drowsily. She smiled ruefully as if it was a distant dream he was talking about. A dream which she knew would never come true. "Bas ek baar Geet⦠ek baarrā¦." He slurred before sleep took over. She kept stroking his hair quietly as wandering thoughts crashed the guarding boundaries of her sanity.

Anu stood quietly by the swing in the garden of the mansion. The Puja was done⦠Arjun's family had left yet Anu had maintained her calm⦠she had not allowed her emotions to take over her as she had observed every move of Arjun and Naintara⦠Naintara's words echoed in her mind as now slowly the puzzle had started fitting in and as the hazy pictures were gaining clarity her heart was shattering in the process.
"Aapka dimag toh theek hai? Aap ab bhi us Geet ke baare main soch rahe hain? Aap apne saath saath humme bhi musibat main daal denge"ā¦
Anu repeated Arjun's words, "This is my game⦠and Anu is a pawnā¦" Yash looked at her confused. "Ab bhi nahi samjhe Yash?" she asked him⦠"What do you want to imply Anu?" he asked. "This is not something as it looks Yash⦠This is a game⦠A game that Arjun is playingā¦" Yash frowned, "Toh?" he asked. "Yash, a game is never played without a goal⦠(turning to face him) A game⦠A game is played with an objective to winā¦" she said thoughtfully. "Lekin Arjun ka kya objective ho sakta hai? Besides why is Naintara Bhabhi helping him?" Anu shook her head vigorously trying to cope up with the enormity of the catastrophe that has struck her. "Mujhe nahi pata⦠Mujhe nahi pata Arjun ko kya chahiye⦠Mujhe nahi pata Naintara Bhabhi kyun Arjun ko support kar rahi hai⦠Mujhe nahi pata kyun mere saath aisa hua⦠Meri kya galati thiā¦" saying she broke as tears started freely flowing down her cheeks. Yash put a hand around her to comfort her and Anu leaned in to rest her head on his chest. He didn't know what should he say to comfort her but he knew one thing that, Anu's pain was cutting through him⦠he wrapped his arms around her to shield her from the brutality life was inflicting upon her.
"Mujhe lagta hai, tumhe sabko sab kuch bata dena chahiye" Yash said. Anu pulled herself from his arms as she looked at him incredulously. "You think he'll admit? Tumhe kya lagta hai yeh itna asaan hai? He would easily bail out himself Yash⦠Then what? How would I know what game was he playing? How would I know what he wanted? How would I know why was he using me?" she asked defeated. "Lekin Anu⦠you can't marry him⦠I won't let you" Yash said with determination⦠"And you think after knowing all this I will marry him?" she shook her head in negative. "Mujhe sach jaan na hai Yash⦠I need to know why⦠I need to know who he was talking aboutā¦" she said miserably. "What are you planning to do Anu?" he asked. Wiping her tears with the back of her hands, "Nahi pata⦠but itna pata hai ki main Arjun ko itni asaani se jaane nahi doongi⦠He took advantage of me and my love⦠he has seen Anu⦠the girl who loved him with all her heart but he forgot that Anu was after all Anahita Khurana⦠he forgot whom he was messing around with⦠and he would have to pay the price of his deeds" she said with determination and vengeance as Yash looked at her in awe. Turning to him, "Yash, ab tum jao⦠I need some time to myself" Anu said. Yash nodded in understanding, "Call me whenever you need me" Nodding at him gratefully, Anu hugged him and shed silent tears before Yash walked away.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
"Itna kuch ho raha tha mere saamne and you didn't even bother telling me about this even once?" An agitated Adi asked Pinky as he paced in his cabin in the hotel. "Adi please⦠try and understand⦠Geet didn't want you to know" Pinky tried to explain him. "So? She's my sister Pinky⦠when all that happened in Hoshairpur, I wasn't around to protect her but now⦠in front of my eyes she was putting up with so much and I didn't know⦠Maan Sir⦠Geet ko itna kuch sunate rahe aur who chup chaap sunti rahi⦠sab kuch sehti rahi⦠aur mujhe kuch pata hi nahiā¦" he said vehemently. "Adi⦠Geet didn't want our careers to be affected" Pinky said in a low voice. Adi turned to her incredulously, "That's ridiculous! What gave you an idea that I'll put my career above my sister? If I would have known I would have kept her away from all this⦠I would have never let Maan Singh Khurana anywhere near Geet. Nahi karni mujhe aisi job" he said assertively.
"Isiliye maine aapko kuch nahi bataya Veerji" Geet said as she entered his cabin. Adi and Pinky turned to look at her. "Enough Geet! Chal yahan seā¦" Adi tried to pull her along but she was adamant. "Nahi Veerji⦠Maan ko meri zaroorat hai" she said. Adi looked at her in disbelief, "You still care about him?" Geet looked up at him as she explained herself, "Veerji⦠humare beech jo bhi hua... us main saari galati unki nahi thi⦠He hated me or pretended to hate me because I made him believe that I didn't love him⦠Aur aaj agar humare beech main sab badal gaya hai toh iska yeh matlab nahi hai ki main unse pyaar nahi karti⦠Geet aaj bhi Maan se bohut pyar karti hai Veerji⦠Main jaanti hoon unhone jo kiya gusse main kiya⦠he was himself hurt⦠and he's in pain even today⦠Unki takleef nahi dekhi jaati mujhseā¦" She said hiding her face in her palms.
Pinky rushed to her side but Adi was adamant, "he's in pain? And what about the pain he inflicted on you? Did he believe you?" he shook her shoulders. Geet looked at Pinky who simply dropped her gaze down. "Chal yahan seā¦" Adi began to pull her hand again. "I can't leave him like this Veerji⦠I can'tā¦" she cried. "Please Adi⦠is waqt let her be with sir" Pinky said. "Never!" he said adamantly. "Please Veerji" Geet begged with him. Adi looked at Pinky and Geet in anger and stormed out of the cabin. Pinky squeezed her hand in assurance before walking out behind Adi.

Anu stood beside the window in her room thinking over the events that in an instant had turned her world upside down. She didn't bother to wipe out the tears that escaped her eyes. Her instinct told her whom Arjun was talking about⦠her instincts told her who had been to Mumbai yet she needed confirmation⦠she didn't think she was capable of putting her thoughts appropriately at this moment⦠yet she needed to sort this outā¦
And as if on cue, her phone buzzed. She read the caller id and picked up the phone, "Ji Vicky Veerjiā¦" she said fighting her tears back. "Kya hua Anu? Tu theek hai na?" Vicky asked at once concerned. She smiled, "haan Veerji, sab theek hai⦠aap bataiye na⦠wahan ka kya haal hai? Howz Veerji? Geet kaisi hai?" she managed to asked. "kuch mat pooch⦠Veerji ne toh Majnu aur Devdas ko bhi peeche chod diya hai" he said... Despite herself, Anu smiled. "Aaj ki puja kaisi hui?" he asked her. Anu shut her eyes and replied, "theek thi Veerji" Vicky smiled and then remembering something asked, "Arjun bhi aaya tha?" Anu gulped the lump in her throat, "Jiā¦" Vicky rubbed his temple, "It looks I'm losing it completely" he said looking at the adjoining room where his brother was in deep slumber. "Kya hua Veerji?" Anu asked concerned. "Arre that day, Geet fainted on the middle of the road... and I don't why I thought I saw Arjun in the mall next to the hotel" he said. And following that what Vicky said⦠she didn't hear⦠it didn't register in her mind. Her doubts were confirmed. Naintara was not speaking to anyone else that day, but Arjun!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Geet entered Maan's room. "Hello⦠Hello Anuā¦" Vicky tried to get her attention but then his eyes fell on Geet and he disconnected the call. "Anu se baat kar rahe the?" Geet asked. Vicky nodded in yes and said, "call drop ho gaya shayad". Geet smiled a little and then turned her attention towards the bedroom of the suite where Maan was peacefully sleeping. "You love Veerji a lot?" he asked following her gaze. "Hmm⦠but kabhi kabhi sirf pyar kafi nahi hota, Vicky" she said repentantly. "Yaar yeh tum ladkiyan itne heavy dialogues lati kahan se ho?" he said teasing her in an attempt to uplift her mood. She looked at him and chuckled, "Well I don't know about all but yes⦠your sister and I share similar tastes of classic stories and quixotic movies" she replied as she tried to hide the emotions that played underneath her calm expressions. He rolled his eyes, "eeks! I can never imagine sitting through those mushy-mushy movies she's inclined towards." Geet frowned, "Dare you Vicky! Say a word against my Anu and be prepared for a brawl here" she warned him. Vicky raised his brow, "Kamaal hai⦠dono ek dusre se baat bhi nahi kar rahe ho⦠yet can't have anyone talking anything against each other." Geet shrugged, "That's how we are!" Vicky sniggered and left the room, leaving her behind.
Taking a deep breath, she straightened and laid down on the bed, next to him and placed her head on his chest as she silently listened to his heartbeats. Even in his sleep, he put a hand around her and pulled her close to him in a protective embrace. She kept looking at his face, tracing his handsome features. She stayed there next to him as the magnitude of what the next morning had in store for her started taking over her. The day she had been waiting for had come⦠as much as she was anxious, she was determined and willed to do what was right⦠and to accomplish what had become the sole purpose of her existence. But right now she decided to live in this moment and so pushing the thoughts about the next day at the back of her mind, she shut her eyes to derive the strength she needed to prevail this combat.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The rising sun, fetched along a new day as the darkness succumbed eventually bringing the world around to life. Maan woke up with a splitting headache and looked around his surroundings confused as he tried to recollect the happenings of the previous night. It was all obscure at first but then the mist started clearing and he remembered what had happened in the lobby after Vicky literally dragged him out of the bar⦠and then he distinctly remembered Geet and her concern. It was then that he frantically looked around the room hoping to see her. But she was nowhere around. He knew she had been here⦠he could still feel her lingering presence around. Throwing the covers off he checked the whole suite, but she was not around. Dejected, he slumped on the bed as he realized that she had left.
Walking over to the window, he looked at the bustling city traffic wondering what was he suppose to do now, when Vicky barged into his room disturbing the eerie silence of the suite. Maan turned to him with a frown which deepened when he noticed Vicky's fretful appearance but before he could ask⦠Vicky said, "Veerji⦠Geetā¦" Alarmed, he took an urgent step towards Vicky, "Kya hua Geet ko?" Vicky took a deep breath before he replied, "Veerji, Geet ka kahin kuch pata nahi chal raha⦠She's missing!"
