simran felt the need to tell her child what all her dad went through at a young age...she sa her other children harmeet and meet also joining them...better she thought...she began...
arjun was born and brought up in the same village of bhanpura...he was d only son to his parents..he was a very bright student from childhood...his parents being farmers were unable to meet his education cost after his govt schooling..when arjun was in 10thhis dad passed away due to cancer...which left his mother devastated...she too passed away in no time...it was arjun's teacher who took care of him after his parents death...masterji owned his own big school...
masterji wasn't blessed with children so both masterji n his wife took care of him as own son...despite of all the love showered upon him by his masterji it took arjun 1yr to recover from his parents death...
children were shocked to know that their grandparents are not real...never in their life they felt that way...they always showered unconditional love and even supported them when their parents were strict...
simran told that arjun and she herself too were very fortunate to have them..she continued...
arjun thought of the cause of his parents death...cancer...he wanted to do something about it...he then thought of becoming a doctor..though masterji wanted him to study whatever he wanted, he dint feel to use that liberty..n as there were very few medical colleges at that time..the entrance was tough n was a bit costly affair too...so he thought of other means through which he can create awareness to society..then he thought of becoming a teacher himself n follow the footsteps of his own masterji... he thought..a doctor cant be the only person to create awareness n treat all the diseases...he can be a normal human being too..he passed his 12th with pretty good scores...masterji suggested to go to Institute Of Advanced Studies In Education, Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi to pursue his further education as a teacher...as he felt it's the good institute...though he was unhappy to go he dint want to upset his masterji at any cost...so he went n excelled there too...
after he returned from delhi he dint see any change in the medical facilities of his town...he was now very determined to change the things in his village...he wanted to change his people...
simran said thats why he has been so keen to see geet as a doctor...he was even saving money from the past 16yrs to open up a hospital with all facilities meant for poor people...
he had a masterji when he was in desperate help but there are people who are very talented yet they are unknown to all of us...so he thought of inculcating new ideas in his own school after returning from Delhi...
arjun joined masterji's school n started teaching children with utmost care n attention...he wanted each n every student to excel in studies as well as extracurricular activities even though there were dull students...he came up few new ideas in front of his staff members which everyone liked...n masterji being d head ordered him to implement the ideas at the earliest possible...he paired up top ranker student with last ranked student...he advised top ranker students to take care of their other friends n help them perform better...n he inturn had an eye on top rankers so that they don't lag behind...
n he made sports compulsory to all students...n every day every class had a sports period to play whatever they like...as arjun wanted children to strengthen physically as well'he dint like students who were bookworms...
slowly school started showing progress...the parents were the most happiest people..some of the parents who were rich offered funds..masterji was the happiest person...soon the school had a lot more books in libraries...n lot more sports stuff...the infrastructure improved n what not...arjun was bit happy as masterji praised him..he thought there was lot more to be done...
he still feels the same way even after 16yrs...coming up with new ideas and implementing them..getting them approved by other staff members...he literally has only and only one thing in his mind...to make this world a better place to live in...

Geet sat speechless..she never knew her father went through all this, that too at a young age. She couldnt would even think what she do if she were in his place. The thought itself terrified her to the core. She thought she had to do it..
Seeing their sister going through so many emotions at the same time they sat beside her and tried to lighten the mood. Harmeet told Geet tu aise kyon baithi hai..chill yaar..dont worry hota hai kabhi kabhi...tu intelligent hai..dekhna is baar pakka clear kar legi. To which Meet also nodded her head...haan Geet you will surely do it...bas thodi si acchi preparation ki zarurat hai. Geet couldnt help but give a small smile to assure her brother and sister that she was fine.
For Simran whole time went fulfilling the demands of her children and taking care of her in-laws. As there were holidays children's demands grew day by day and she hardly finds her husband at home who went to meet his college friend in ujjain and also to buy some good books for school library...he has the habit of checking all the books himself. So she was really having a hard time with her children. Just then to her relief she saw her brother Amrit coming through the front door. It was just 2 days ago that her father called her to send the children to Hoshiarpur. As Arjun never had any problem with it, she immediately agreed. She knew her children will have a nice time in the fields there.
Harmeet and Meet were more than excited to spend their vacation at their mother's place...It was Geet who was not at all interested this time...
As soon as Arjun returned from Ujjain kids were anxious to leave for Hoshiarpur... Before that Ajun and Amrit had a detailed conversation about what all happened in their lives.. Being collagemates they always had lot to share.. Arjun never forgets to ask about his parents and inturn sought any ideas that could improve the things in his school... Amrit knowing his friend very well never failed him... It was a rare bond to see...
Geet was gloomy all the time...Arjun told that he will send her after a few days to which Amrit agreed and took Harmeet and Meet with him to his place...
It was a dialy routine for Arjun to kiss his kids good night... As Geet was only their that night he went to her room to see her in the saddest mood... His heart ached seeing his daughter in such a state...Her eyes were red and she looked very depressed... He sat beside her near the window...
As soon as she was aware of his presence she straightened herself and wiped her tears away... She looked at him with sorry written all over her face... She couldnt speak initially... She just managed to say sorry papa...
Arjun hugged her... And told its okay bete... happens sometimes... do you know why is success delayed for few people?
She looked at him with questioning eyes...
He continued...because character cannot be developed in quiet and ease...only through experiences of trail and suffering can a soul be strengthed, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved...you gain strength and confidence by every experience...take failure as an experience bete... its just a small delay... this kind of experiences inspire us to do things which we cannot do and try to approach life a bit differently...thats it...always try to see the positive side of it not negative...
Par papa how will i face my friends and my teachers?
If your friends are true, they will never do or say things which hurt you... same goes with teachers... dont let their high expectations affect you including their negative comments... i know its easy to say all this... so geet beta why dont you take a break and enjoy yourself until you forget what all happened... it would be easier for you to start afresh with a positive state of mind...

Go to your mother's place and enjoy there... you need not meet your friends if you want...

He took his daughter to bed and made her sleep tucking the blanket around her... Stroking her hair he said sleep well baby... and kissed her forehead... He was there until he was sure that Geet slept peacefully...
Next day Arjun took Geet to Hoshiarpur after she bid goodbye to her mother and grandparents...Harmeet and Meet were more than happy to see her...They enjoyed like there was no tomorrow...
After a month...
Geet returned to Bhanpura and started her preparation from home...she dint want to go to any coaching centre as her own school teachers were always there to help if she faced any problem... she got most of the help from her own Grandfather who was physics teacher... now there was no looking back... her serious preparation started...
After about 10 months...
Geet was excited to give her MP-PMT entrance exam this time... she was confident while answering most of the questions... though she found 15-20 MCQ's difficult...it was quite common...
She was sure that she will get a medical seat this time...

it was again the result day in the life of geet...but there was a difference this time...this time she is more confident and and she is positive as she put her everything to clear this entrance exam...inorder to put her 100%, she literally forgot day and night
getting up early in the morning...giving 16-17hours for the prepration was the major transformation she had to do...apart from her meals, the only break she took was to talk to her grandparents and siblings...she left no stone unturned
biology and chemistry were not a big problem but physics was...though it was tough, she had to study it to crack her entrance exam...inspite of her grandfather's help, she felt physics as a big headche during her initial days of preparation...it was only to this subject that her study hours increased
but now, she would be reaping whatever she sow...she was satisfied with the hard work she put in...well, lets see what happens...she thought
arjun was actually depressed for those initial few months especially seeing his daughter go through a tough phase to be precise...he had never seen his daughter this focussed and this scared him the most...she now was mostly serious, made herself distant from sports n dancing which were her favourite and was completely immersed in her studies...every night when he kisses his children good night, he used to stare sleeping form of geet for a long time...he somewhere felt he ruined her childhood...it was very tough seeing his beloved daughter having nightmares about her studies...
even though he dint voice out his thoughts, simran felt his emotions...she stood like a pillar during his mental war...she always stood by his side...arjun thought he probably made a mistake by not letting geet choose whatever she wanted...but the damage was already done...it was only after few months that his mental agony calmed a bit as geet started to progress to much greater extent...but still he felt guilty...he only knows how he manged to pass those months...well without simran it would have been impossible...it was only her who assured him that he did best for his daughter
sitting infront of the computer geet tried to open the website from the past half an hour but was unable to as innumerable people tried to open the same to see their own results...after 45minutes of continous effort, the website opened...immediately she entered her examination roll number and closed her eyes as her result was about to be displayed in a while
everyone stood surrounding her chair as her results was displayed on the computer screen...arjun who stayed at home from his school was delighted to the core...actually no one could express what he felt at that particular point of time...the mental agony which he faced from past few months finally subsided completely leaving no trace...he instantly hugged simran with teary eyes...he turned to greet his 'doctor' daughter who still had her eyes closed...a wider smile crept upon his face as he shook congratulating her
simran went to kitchen to fetch sweets for all...gripping her shoulder, arjun made geet stand and embraced her in his arms...congrats beta..u did it...he had no more words at that moment...harmeet and meet also bunked their school to which arjun too agreed surprisingly...as arjun's hold on geet loosened, meet pulled her sisiter into a tight hug...meri di doctor ban gayi...twirling her...congrats di...you are simply the best...harmeet joined ya di...you are the best...you have proved it...and all the four members embraced each other
as soon as geet saw her grandparents she rushed to hug them...grandpa congratulated her whereas grandma gave her blessings...jugg jugg jiyo beta...by this time simran was back with geet's favourite besan ke ladoo...and everyone started literally stuffing her mouth with it...she made a complaining face but his father gave his biggest smile which she ever saw
arjun told simran that he will call amrit and them the good news...she nodded...and then he went off to call and distribute sweets to his collegues...he was very excited to tell this news to everyone in town...after a while kissing geet's forehead, simran too went off to prepare afternoon's meal along with grandparents
with her brother and sister in room, she got a chance to see her marks...177/200...this was the time when her siblings saw the real happiness on her face...she was definately going to get the top most medical college in madhya pradesh...she turned to both of them giving them the tightest hug
as the day progressed, there was a festive mood...phone calls pouring in from hoshiarpur and friends...visit of neighbors...and all their favourite food was there on table...but most importantly was the happiness which was seen on each and every person...geet felt very happy with everything going on around her...she was at bliss
that night as arjun kissed geet good night, he saw she had a small smile crept on her face as she slept...his heart felt contended...simran was the happiest of all to see both of them in a sort of euphoric state
that next day it was announced that counselling will start in next 10days
after 10 days at the counselling centre,
geet and her father were there at the counselling centre waiting for their turn...arjun went to refill the water bottle while geet observed the people around her...her eyes caught a very enthusiastic girl who was talking with someone...and an old lady smiling at her antiques...
that old lady reminded of her own grandmother...there was something warm about her...
just then an announcement was made and arjun rushed to geet to take her in...they sat for a while and then it was the turn to check geet's certificates...now they were made to sit according to their ranks...for their actual turn
receiving a broad smile from her father, geet saw the same enthusiastic girl ahead of her..few ranks ahead...may be 2-3...with that same man and dadi
it was geet's turn now...she very easily got the best medical college and the worst part was that she had to stay in a hostel...by her facial expressions, arjun understood her concern and told her...its okay geet...we will be with you..dont worry...she gave a confused smile...
after she signed few papers at the fee counter, arjun got a call from home...geet happily took it and walked away accidentally meeting the same dadi...as her call ended, she was welcomed by a warm smile of dadi...she too smiled back...geet saw that girl was talking to a group of other girls while the other person was paying fees at the adjacent counter to her father...he suddenly turned around spotting his dadi...dadima

arjun payed all the fees necessary and was checking all the papers which need to be checked properly...esp the xerox copies of all the certificates of geet...meanwhile get came and hugged him sideways and slept upon him standing...arjun checked the time and saw that it was very late now...as he was about to wake up geet, phone in her hand rang and it was again from home...they poured him all the questions and he answered patiently...when he woke up geet she told sonne do na papa...arjun tried waking her up again and again...geet bete..hotel mein chalthe hai...phir jitna marzi chahe soh lena...but geet was too lazy to do so...papa plzz na...he just tried walking with her until car and somehow reached hotel...

he had barely slept that night...her beautiful eyes...her sleeping form...her voice were all flashing in his mind...the shocked yet confused expression of her eyes was haunting him...he for the first time couldnt understand what was happening to him...he woke up abruptly from his bed and walked upto his canvas, took a new sheet and sharpened his pencil and just drew her...starting off with her hairline...forehead...amazing eyes...slim nose...her well defined, sealed, inviting lips...her beautiful jawline and swan shaped neck...he drew a small chain around her neck with a slightly bigger heart shaped pendent studded with diamonds...then her amazing ears with small pair of hangings...giving a few stokes to lengthen her hair and few to shade her cheeks...he completed it...
he was amazed as he dint use his eraser even for once...he stared at it without even blinking his eyes...time stood still for him...he was just into her completely...hours passed...
the only voice that brought him into reality were that of servants who woke up early in the morning to do their dialy chores...he glanced at the time...he still had few hours in hand before going to college...he went into a disturbed sleep...
he somehow managed to get up at 7...he went for a jog...this was the routine he could never miss...he always goes to the outskirts of the city for jogging where none would be there...but this time someone with him...thoughts of geet within him...the cool breeze of the morning reminded of her
after he returned home he couldnt help but glance the beautiful flowers of his garden which inturn reminded of her...controlling his thoughts he went to attend his college
he was studying his second year PG in surgery...he was greeted by nurses and few house surgeons on the way to which he nodded his head and proceeded to do his duties
as it was weekend none of the associate professors and assistant professors were on duty..all the final year PGs were out to present seminars...he was now incharge of the whole surgery unit...he set out to see as many inpatients as possible..
most of the cases were minor burns cases or diabetic foot ulcers or atherosclerosis cases...which he gave off to housies...
there was a casualty case in which the patient had severe blunt injury abdomen...patient was in the state of initial stage of cardiac arrest and hypovolemia [loss of blood]...he tried replacing the blood with ringer's lactate...but it dint work...the patient's blood pressure still dipped low...he was unable to control anything...the housie who assisted him suggested blood transfusion as the patient's hb levels were also very low...after much efforts the patient was saved..
he went to update the case sheet of that patient but he dint knew what he was writing...the nurse corrected his mistakes...
he came out of his department when a small child tugged his pant...the child's smile reminded of geet...he completely lost it...he left from there
he was frustrated with himself...he phoned n took half day leave from his HOD...n just drove his car to the farthest end of the city...stopping his car he sat beside a small canal...his place..
though he always has been alone none invaded his thoughts...but the scene was quite different now...she was always with him...in his thoughts...esp when he was alone...
one side of him just wanted to get her any cost while the other side wanted to leave her alone...the people who were very close to his heart always ended up their lives...he felt he was a curse...so he remained detached with everyone around...even his dadi and sister who were only people remaining...he thought something bad would happen if he stayed close to them...so he had a very thick shell around himself always..but now it was broken
he wanted to go around the world to search her...to make her his...but his conscience warned him not to be selfish...he came back to his senses...he dint want to harm geet by staying close to her...he dint want his curse to rub onto her...he decided to feel contended with her single glimpse...that single glimpse of her would be enough for his whole life...a lone tear escaped his eye without his knowledge...
days passed by...
maan was still struggling with his mental battle...her thoughts never left him...he drew geet every time to calm his senses...
he wondered if a single glimpse could change him to this extent, what would happen if she stayed close
he wondered of his survival now...
