Part 32

The next morning she came and saw his door was closed...it made her hesitant to knock. She finally knocked and slowly turned the doorknob. She sat on his bed waiting for him to come out from the bathroom. As always he left his towel and clothes on the bed. Geet smiled remembering how she would always tease him to come out and get it himself. Then suddenly she realized his room was a mess though she was not at all surprised. She assorted his jeans and shirts and open his cupboard to put them in. Her eyes caught an envelope, which was sealed from the back. She reversed it and read in clear cursive writing... To My Mishti! She turned in frustration and threw the card away. She was mad...she wanted to scream! Instead she started to knock on his bathroom door...Maan bahar ao abhi isi waqt !!

Geet mera towel pass karna

She passed him his towel and he came out only with that hanging from his waist. Maan thought she would turn away but she was just staring at him with questioning eyes. He didn't mind at all. Geet was too mad to notice anything but that card on the floor. She picked it up and put the card right in his face...that blocked his view so he moved her hand.

Geet-So you are hiding something from me

Maan-Geet I'm the one mad at you...if you can't stay without talking to me then just say so lai kin bahana kyun bana rahe ho?

Ye mishti kaun hai? Her voice was sharp and stern...she sounded very serious!

He closed his eyes shut...she read the card?? He was cursing himself...feeling stupid for not hiding the card under the mattress.

Geet i'm sorry, i wanted to tell you earlier but...

But what? I can't believe you hid this from me Maan

He was feeling overwhelmed seeing the restlessness in her eyes...she meant everything to him...his life, his soul, his heart and now she finally knew that. But then he wondered if she knows Mishti is her then why was she asking him?

I didn't expect this from you

This new surge of emotion gave his life a new meaning...he wanted to seek in her mind the same deep feeling...full of anticipation and urge! Everyday felt incomplete if she wasn't there...all he needed was one glimpse of her and everything would be ok. Geet was hurt yet again...she never realized his deep emotions were reserved for another girl! She was losing her mind...all the while she was fantasizing about them being together when in reality this was only one sided. A tear formed and he came close to wipe it away.

Maan- I love... Geet closed his mouth. She didn't have the enough strength to hear someone else's name being uttered out of his mouth...it was too much for her to bear. He pressed a soft kissed against her palm and she stood frozen.

Agar tum janthi ho ki Mishti kaun hai toh kyun pooch rahi hoon? He teased her

She put her hand down and turned her back to him. He came and hugged her from behind squashing her tight in his arms. Her tears were nowhere stopping. She thought he was only hers and nobody can ever come in between then but someone did today...and that killed her! Geet slowly released her hands away...

I have to go to the station to pick up Buaji

Buaji was delighted to see her after such a long time...Geet loved her Buaji just as much. She was like her second mother. Geet introduced her to Maan but Buaji wasn't that fond of him. They arrived home and all sat down with anxiousness building up.

Buaji- Darji mere pas ek kush karbi hai...mein ne Geet ke liye ek ladka dekha. Ladka bohath he changa hai...mumbai mein rehthi hai

Maan uncrossed his arms and clinched his fist while Geet heard nothing. She was lost still trying to process who the girl may be.

Aaj sham woh yahaan ayegi Geet ko dekhney

Darji looked at Geet and then at Maan. He wasn't sure what was going on in her mind but he was definitely sure she would not agree to this. Buaji sat beside her and caressed her head. Geet putar ladka ko ek baar dekhey gi na? Bohath acha hai...tujhe bohath kush rakey ghi!

Everyone waited for her answer. Maan knew the answer already so he wasn't tensed. They loved each other and nobody had the right to tear them apart...nobody! Buaji shock her...she was so lost in her own thoughts that she blurted out...Haan! Everyone especially Darji was quite surprised by her answer. Maan looked at Geet with scepticism...her antics played in front of his eyes. He can't believe what he just heard...their talk in the morning...was it all a joke or a dream?? He needed answers...fast! This is not happening!! Rajji came and hugged her...waking her from her thoughts I'm sure my jiju will be the best! Dekha na!!

She looked at Buaji and tried to protest but what was the use she thought...everything ended this morning! Nothing felt wrong...nothing felt right! She was at a neutralized position, which obviously was pretense!

All dispersed and Maan grabbed Geet...he nearly dragged her to his room slamming the door behind with his foot. He pinned her against the wall and gave her a deadly eye contact. She tried to free away but it was useless.

Geet why are you doing this to me??

Maan u are hurting me

You think I wasn't hurt when you agreed to meet to meet this guy??

What I do in my life why does it matter to you? Go to your Mishti and leave me alone!!!

He freed her and she ran out. He pushed his hair back realizing she still doesn't know who Mishti is.
