Part 46
January 3rd 11:00 am,
"Papa!" The panicked voice screamed at the other end, and he flinched, his breath shortening as he held hte phone close to his ear, "Papa!" She said again, and he choked up, his throat clenching and unclenching as unshed tears blurred his vision.
"Rhea?" He rasped out, and he heard his daughter wailing at the other end, panic seized him from the inside as his forehead perspired as he tried sitting up, "Beta, where are you Are you okay? Beta?"
"Pap-"
"Heard her voice? Heard her crying?" The cold voice butt in, and Rajeev felt his breath hitch as cold fear gripped his insides.
"Please" He pleaded, "Please!"
"You know what you have to do" The voice said, and the phone clicked shut. Rajeev stared at the phone for a few minutes, his mind trying hard to come to terms with what he had to do. He had no choice. He felt the tears break lose, and he harshly wiped them away.
"I am sorry, Ridhima. I am sorry, Armaan" He said out loud into the empty room, hoping that God will hear him and forgive him for what he was about to do.

January 3rd, 3:00 pm
Ridhima turned around the corner, her cheeks still red from the recent encounter she had with Armaan, and her lips still tingled. Her fingers traced over her lips, and she blushed as she ducked her head down, letting her hair form a curtain around her.
She gave out a small giggle as excitement bubbled in her stomach. Wrapping her arms around her waist,s he hugged herself tight, trying to keep the excitement and happiness at bay.
Who knew that trusting your heart could bring you so much happiness.
She gave out a content sigh, and marched down the hallway, a file tucked under her arm, and a small smile lighting up her face.

January 3rd, 8:00 pm
Ridhima walked into Rajeev's rooms, the last patient to see before her shift finished. She gave him a small smile, the morning's events still fresh on her mind, and wondering whether he was still in the sensitive, angry mood.
She gently walked around the room, and took out the blood pressure machine, wrapping the strap around his arm, and noting the blood pressure.
"Sorry" He whispered, and Ridhima's eyes snapped up to him, to see him looking at her apologetically.
"I should have not snapped at you this morning. You were...you were only trying to help" He continued to whisper, and she could make out that he was choking up. She hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder, and gave it a small squeeze of comfort.
She glanced at the machine, and frowned at the escalated high blood pressure. She removed the strap, and moved to the medicine area, furiously noting down things in his file.
"Were you.." He started, before he stopped, and took in a deep breath. Ridhima looked at him questioningly, waiting for him to continue, "Were you being serious when you said you wanted to help me?" He asked, and his eyes averted from her gaze, settling on his lap, refusing to look up at her.
Ridhima took a step towards him, and waited for him to look up at her, "Of course" She said, with compete conviction, and she frowned briefly as she saw a flash of pain flitter past his eyes.
"Ridhima..don't make promises you cannot keep" He said, and Ridhima sat on the edge of his bed, a small smile resting on her lips as she looked at him,
"Mr. Malhotra, you can trust me" She said, and she saw as he exhaled heavily shaking his head before looking up at her.
"Dr. Ridhima. Mt daughter will be waiting at Royal park. It' about 2km away from the hospital.." He trailed off, and his gaze dropped back to his lap.
Ridhima knew what he wanted, "I'll go get her"
He looked up at her, and instead of seeing a spark of hope, she only saw pain and guilt, "Are you sure?" He asked, and she nodded giving him a bright smile.
She got up from the bed, and moved towards the door, "I have finished my shift for now, so I'll go get her" She said, and opened the door, moving out, feeling elated at finally being able to do something to help her patient.
Just as she moved towards the locker room, to take out her bag and her other belongings, her phone beeped.
She took it out, and grinned as she saw the text from Armaan,
Dinner tomorrow?
She quickly texted back,
Hmm...depends where :P
As she took her purse and stepped out of the hospital, the cold breeze making her shiver, her phone beeped in her hand,
Anywhere you want, Basket ;)
She giggled and waved down an auto. Giving him the address, her fingers moved over her phone's keypad, typing up her reply,
Surprise me, Dr. Mallik ;)
She blushed at her reply and as she pressed send. Her eye trained on her phone, waiting for his reply. Her heart skipped a beat as her phone beeped again.
The auto stopped, and she quickly paid the money and stepped out,
Are you challenging Armaan, the great, basket?
She shook her head in amusement and stepped into the park, typing up her reply,
It's not a challenge if I know I am going to win – and by that I mean you cannot surprise me
His reply came soon after,
Get ready for the night of your life, Ri-dhi-ma
She laughed out loud, but her laugh quickly halted as she felt goosebumps erupt on her skin, and an unknown fear spread through her body.
Just as she turned around to check if someone was behind her, the phone in her hand beeped again, signaling her of another text from Armaan. Before she could check the text, she felt a cloth placed on her mouth, and she inhaled sharply, trying to scream and kick but the chloroform quickly engulfed her senses and she felt her body weakening, as she slumped down, the phone falling from her hand onto the dirty ground of the park.
As the stranger carried Ridhima away, leaving her phone in the park, the text that Armaan had sent read,
I love you, Ridhima.
If anyone is confused, I am doing a timeline of events that occurred on January 3rd and what led to Ridhima's kidnapping!
Hope it's not too confusing! Please let me know what you thought of this part! :)
