Chapter Sixteen
(My Truth)
"Geet! bolo! kyun ro rahi ho?!?!" said Ashlesha as she was trying to calm Geet down. " No Ashlesha... I can't do it... I cant betray him like that.... I have no energy to love him Ashlesha.... please no... don't try to force it on me" cried Geet. Ashlesha hugged Geet and Geet was crying on her shoulder. "Shhh.... its okay... bataoo! whats wrong!..." said Ashlesha. " No... I can't tell you Ash.." cried Geet. " You are like my sister Geet.. please...batao" said Ashlesha. Geet cried a litle more and she said, " Maan ko nahin batana please.. promise me this one thing."
" I promise ... batao!!" said Ashlesha. Geet broke out of the hug and Ashlesha wiped her tears and Geet looked at her fingers and her face was bright red. ' I... I... I have... cervical cancer Ashlesha" said Geet in the coldest tone ever. Ashlesha stopped. She was frozen. " Geet??!" said Ashlesha softly with tears brimming in her eyes. " The cancer is in the first stage, but I know I won't survive... IM GOING TO DIE DAMMIT.... IM GOING TO DIE!" said Geet as had big tears rolling down her eyes. Ashlesha hugged her again and Geet was sobbing so hard. " Ashlesha.. I don't want to die... I don't want to do that to him.. please... I love him more than my life...I don't want to \see him go weak because of me.... and even more stone hearted" said Geet. The girls were crying for a bit and Ashlesha tried to calm her down.
"GEET! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE DAMMIT... MAAN WON'T LET YOU DIE... I WON'T LET YOU DIE... ARJUN WON'T LET YOU DIE... I PROMISE YOU" said Ashlesha as she broke out of her hug and wiped her tears. " No Ashlesha.. its too late.. I don't know what to do.. I love him and Im going to die... where does that put him? I won't be able to live without him in the grave either... kya karoon iss dil ka Ashlesha?!!" exclaimed Geet. " Wahi karo jo tumhara dil chahe Geet... you are a strong girl Geet... live laugh and love like you all tell us... please.. rona band karo,.. mere liye?" said Ashlesha. Geet stopped crying and she wiped her tears. " Ek minute... paani laati hoon" said Ashlesha. Geet nodded and Ashlesha went to go get water until she froze.
She saw Arjun standing at the door trying not to have tears in his eyes. His face was expressionless. She only nodded to him and she left. Arjun saw Ashlesha disappear into the kitchen and he went towards Geet. He knelt down in front of her and he said, " Tumhe kuch nahin hoga... your brother promises you that Geet". Geet looked up at him with a million questions. " You are like my sister Geet... and Maan is like my brother... we won't let anything happen to you Geet... yeh humara vaada hain" said Arjun with a little smile.
" Tum shayad iss dunya ki sab se bahadur ladki ho... you have a life threatening disease and you still laugh and smile? kaisi ladki ho tum Geet? Tumhe andaaza hain??" said Arjun. Geet smiled a little and she said, " A little over dramatic don't you think." Arjun laughed, " Issi tarah raho Geet... we all love you that way". Geet nodded and Arjun side hugged her. " Now lets stop the water works lil sis and here my dharam patni comes with jal" said Arjun.
"Arjun theek keh raha hai Geet... trust me.. tumhe kuch nahin hoga" said Ashlesha as she sat down beside Geet and handed her the water. Geet drank the water and she wiped the last of her tears and said, " Its late,,, you guys should go finish the lessons now". Ashlesha and Arjjun nodded and Ashlesha helped Geet into her room. Geet laid down and she closed her eyes slowly and fell asleep. Ashlesha shut the lights and closed the door.
The next day, Geet was experiencing nausea and she was quite tired. Geet however ignored all of it and she got ready for the day. Ashlesha came in and smiled, " Are you feeling okay Geet?" " Phit phaat!" said Geet jokingly. Ashlesha laughed. Geet went out with her and found Arjun and Maan to be standing outside. Geet couldn't help but stare at him again. Maan looked over and he smiled a little. " Good morning" said Maan. Geet didn't look him in the eye and she said, " Good morning". " Acha.. aaj kya karna hain?" said Geet. " Aaaj do aur sessions hongay and then we will go out for lunch! and then we are done since I have a few more doctors coming in to fill in" said Ashlesha. Everyone nodded and Maan and Geet went towards their group.
Maan was walking and then he had to ask something. " Geet..." said Maan. " Ji?" said Geet. " Can I ask you a question?" asked Maan. " Go ahead" said Geet. " Why do you not do lunch in the hospital anymore? where do you go during that time?" asked Maan with curiosity in his voice. Geet closed her eyes tightly and she swallowed hard. He frowned. She looked at him intently and said, " I have lunch at home Maan... cafeteria food isn't good all the time". He looked down and then nodded. Geet was relieved. She went to another general hospital and got chemotherapy and other cancer treatments done. Thank God Maan didn't read her facial expressions.
Later that day, the four went out towards a nice restaurant. Geet was trying not to look at him or talk to him. She knew if she did, she would fall back and love him again. Maan was noticing her not so chirpy attitude and bubbliness. Something was definitely wrong with her. So they entered the nice restaurant and they grabbed a window table. They sat down and the waiter came up and took their orders. They were waiting for their food until Ashlesha and Arjun saw a couple they knew. They excused themselves and left towards to talk to them. It was an awkward silence and Geet was playing around with her phone. Maan had to say it. He was getting very suspicious of Geet. She was definitely hiding something. He wanted to find out once and for all.
