Chapter Seventeen
(Welcome to My Life)
"Geet... Kya hua tumhe? itni pareshaan kyun lag rahi ho?" asked Maan. Geet stopped playing with her phone and she looked at him, " Kuch nahin... bus...ghar ki yaad aarahi thi". " Tum mujhse jhoot bol rahi ho ya apne aap se?" said Maan with an eyebrow up. Geet shrugged it off and replied, " Maan... main aapse kyun jhoot bolongi?" " Kuch nahin hua mujhe... I''ll be fine and maybe im a little hungry?" said Geet with a slight smile. Maan just narrowed his eyes but he let it go. But he had a thing in his heart. He had to say it. He was trying to but he couldn't.
" Geet... I'm sorry" blurted Maan. Geet frowned and said, " Sorry about what Maan?" " I still haven't told you about why I was rude to you during the last surgery we did" said Maan looking at his fingers. " Oh that?! Maan! don't be silly... its okay" said Geet with a smile. " I think its time you know why I react like that.." said Maan. "Go on" said Geet.
" When I was an intern at Sanjeevani, I came across a little girl named Avantika who had a hole in her heart and we all knew that a heart transplant wouldn't work at all." began Maan. " And a few nights later Yash and I got a call from the hospital saying that Avantika's pulse was deteriorating and I was so worried... and you see Geet... as doctors we cannot get emotionally attached to a patient but I couldn't help myself... Avantika was like the baby sister I never had and I was upset... I was worried...So we rushed there and she was dying in front of my eyes. I tried so hard to control the pulse and do whatever in my power at that time... Yash was telling me to stop because she was dying and all that little girl said to me was " Angel" before dying... I didn't know what that meant and she died.. in front of my eyes Geet.. my baby sister died in front of my eyes... I was broken... it took me ages to get myself back together and which is why you see this Maan Singh Khurana" finished Maan.
Geet didn't say a word. She just listened and then she smiled, " Maan... I'm sorry to hear that and I know Avantika is in heaven watching you and I;m sure that she doesn;t want you to be upset and angry over her death... I know she's happier!". Maan looked into her eyes and they expressed deep sincerity and comfort. He felt warm and cool all over just looking at her.
She continued, " Maan.. jab humari ek cheez kho jaati hain hum sab kuch bhool kar usko dhoonday hain aur aakhri waqt mein nakaam ho jayte hain... and like I said... its not worth it... you're young and amiable! you have a life ahead of you... zindagi bohot choti hain in gham mein... now you have to choose it Maan.. your present or past... if you live in the present.. you'll live in the present.. if you choose to live in the past you'll live in the past... pick now Maan before its too late!" said Geet.
Maan thought deeply about what she said and he knew she was right. He was too busy living in the past that he forgot about his present and future. He was starting to realize how many mistakes he's made in these past five years. His family, Dadimaa, Ash di, Arjun and Veer were all hurt by his actions. Geet just explained to him what nobody could in the past five years. He looked at her closely and broke a little smile. She said, " Did you pick it Maan?" Maan looked at her intently again and he said, " I pick my present and future Geet" Geet's face lit up and she expressed her joy to him.
" Maan! Great job! I knew it!" said Geet. Maan only smiled a little and she said, " Okay thats now smile no.5?... to tell you the truth.. ive lost count" joked Geet. Just then Ashlesha and Arjun came up and they sat down. " Sorry guys... they were good friends... acha lets order and then some good new for all of you!" said Arjun. " Tell us now!!" said Geet. " Patience my dear... patience" smirked Ashlesha. " Ash di... you know I don't like surprises" said Maan. Ashlesha rolled her eyes and said, " Acha baba... so there is a party at the haveli... dadi and Suhani called us over and Geet you will be coming with us too!". Geet was overjoyed. " Are you sure Ash?" asked Geet. " Shutup Geet... tum humaray saath jaa rahi ho and thats final" said Ash.
" But I didn't bring my sherwani" said Maan. " Dude... borrow mine" said Arjun. Maan nodded and Ashlesha remembered, " Oh haan Geet! you can borrow my lengha!..." " Are you sure-" began Geet... " SHUTUP GEET!" laughed Ashlesha. Geet put a finger over her lips and she nodded jokingly. " We'll be leaving today after we go back and handle the rest of thethings... I have Dr. Karan and Dr. Shefali taking care of the two days that we'll be there" said Ashlesha. Everyone nodded and the waiter came to take their order. The four were sitting down, eating and talking...
After they were done, they went back to the camp and Geet and Maan went off to their duties. Ashlesha was taking a little breather in between because she was pregnant. She texted Geet and said, " Hey lovely!! I have the perfect lengha for you! and btw when you get there there will be a beautician waiting for all the girls... its facial, pedi and mani.... Im so exciiited! finally a girl near my age!" Geet recieved the text and smiled. Ashlesha was a sweetheart. Geet couldn't believe how close she had gotten to a stranger that she only met a few days ago. Ashlesha and Arjun felt like her older siblings. She loved the feeling.
Later that evening, the four left towards the haveli and Ashlesha said, " So its only dadi whos my leading lady and my sweetheart grand mother in law.. and Suhani my cute baby nand... shes mature for a fifteen year old girl! and we've all basically known eachother for a long time...!" Geetnodded and said, " I hope I don't screw up Ash!" " Oh shush Geet... you'll be fine!" said Ashlesha. They drove for half an hour and finally reached the Rathod Haveli. Geet saw the exterior and it was absolutely beautiful. She had seen those houses in movies like Hum saath saath hain! " Its beautiful Ash! you're so lucky!" said Geet. " You'll be even luckier than me Geet" mumbled Ashlesha. " Sorry?" said Geet. " Nothing.. acha aao! lets go!" said Ashlesha.
They all entered the large haveli to find dadi and Suhani sitting in the main living room. They stood up and smiled.dadi looked like a sweet lady! ( guys imagine the lady who played dadimaa in the beginning of the Geet serial!) She smiled warmly and came upto the four. Arjun and Ash bent down to touch her feet until she stopped Ash and said, " Noo my dear... aap pregnant ho!". Maan bent down to touch her feet and she gave him her blessings. Geet was so nervous... dadi looked at her, " Aapka naam Geet hain?". Geet looked up and smiled, " Jii". Geet came up and she was about to touch her feet until dadi stopped her and said, " Humare ghar mein... betiyaan pair nahin chooti... a girl in our house deserves a hug!". dadi hugged Geet warmly and Geet felt better.
Just then Suhani came in. She was a short girl with a sweet face and smile. She had long black hair and chocolate brown eyes. She wore an anarkali with light jewellry. She greeted the three and then she hugged Geet. " Hi Geet di!.. oopss... main aapko di bula sakti hoon?" asked Suhani. Geet laughed, " Of course!". " Great! so di! nice to meet you!! come in! bhabhi has told me so much about you!!!" said Suhani. She was a sweet girl! Geet felt more welcomed. They all sat down in the formal living area. Dadi ordered tea and biscuits and Ramlal immediately came in with them. They all were sitting and having tea. Geet and dadi were getting along so well! Suhani loved Geet... she was a sweet chirpy girl.
" Acha bete.. you should get going... beautician aanay wali hain" said dadi with a smile. The girls nodded and they went upstairs. Maan went to dadi and he sat down on the floor beside her feet and said, " I missed you dadi!". " Missed ke bachay Maan! aapne humay phone bhi nahin kiya aur tum apni dadimaa ko kyun sata rahe ho... unhon ne mujhe bataya!" said Dadi. " Seriously.. you ladies are a sattelite system... kuch nahin hua dadi... choriye..." said Maan. Arjun smiled, " Explain to him dadi!!!" The three laughed and they talked on.
On the other hand the girls were in the large room and they were talking nonstop about everything. Geet had gotten her facial done, pedi and mani... she loved the feeling. Its been along time! " Acha di... aapko Maan bhaiya kaisay lagay?" asked Suhani as she smirked at Ashlesha. Ashlesha wanted to break into a laugh. Geet went serious and then red, " Ash! did you!". " Noo!! its my prediction.., .waisay bhaiya does look at you in a different way di!" said Suhani. Geet only frowned, " No Suhani.. nothing like that.. don't worry!". " if you say so!!!" said Suhani.
The girls finished and Geet was shown to her room. It was a large suite. She felt like she was in a palace room that stretched so wide! Her bed was big and she explored her room. She found a glass door leading into a dressing area. She stepped in and she found a BIGG room full of clothes all teh way to anarkali's, lenghas, shalwar kameez.. you name it! and there was a large glass dresser with tons of perfumes... and everything. She felt like she was in heaven! Just then Ashlesha stepped in and she said, " Found yur dressing room!?!". Geet turned around and smiled, " Its not mine silly.. its yours". " Its yours for now!" said Ashlesha. " Acha Geet.. you are my size and you'll fit into anything.. btw if you dont mind.. I picked out your outfit!! and its there ironed and hung properly... and you won't have any problem and all jewellry is there too! you're like my sister Geet..!" said Ashlesha.
" Ash! don't do too much!!!" said Geet. " Its not too mcuh and shutup Geet. get ready! the partty is sooooon!!!" said Ashlesha. Geet nodded and Ashlesha left the room. Geet opened the glass doors to the closet and there she found a beautiful white lengha choli hanging there. It had light silver work on it and it looked elegant... she loved it instantly! Geet went over and saw her jewellry which was a beautiful silver set and everything was set for her...She was so happy.
She exited the room and she went into the washroom to take a quick shower. She came back out and she was starting to get ready. She went into teh dressing room and she put her lengha choli on. The fitting was perrrfect! Geet tied the dori's and she looked at herself in the mirror.It looked so good on her! White was so good on Geet. She then dried her hair and straightened it. She did her makeup carefully. Geet was good at doing her makeup.
" Chal Geet.. foundation laga.. Meera warna maraaygi!" mumbled Geet. Geet put an adequate amount on and she did her eye makeup. She was done that and did some last touchups on the hair and makeup. She put her bangles on and jewellry. She admired them. Ash had a good taste! Geet got up and checked everything. She smiled ," Chal Geet.. jootay pehn!"Geet walked out of the room and she found a note and a pair of high silver stiletos. She picked up the note and it said, " Sorry Geet.. I totally forgot to give you these... I was so glad to find out that you're my size in shoes too!.. wear these or else I;ll forcefully make you!...Love ash!"
Geet laughed and she sat down on her bed and wore the shoes. They were 5 inch heels... higher than she had ever worn. She finished putting on her shoes and realized that her payals matched perfectly. She was ready. And then a knock came at her door and she got up and opened it. Suhani was at the door and she smiled, " Di! YU LOOK GORGEOUS!". Geet blushed in embarassment and said, " Thanks! you look so cute!". " No di! seriously... you look so good!" said Suhani. " Thanks!" said Geet. " Okay lets go... everyones waiting!" said Suhani. Geet nodded and she came out of the room with Suhani.
"I hope I don't fall!" said Geet. " You won't di!" said Suhani. She put her arms around her shoulder in encouragement. Geet smiled and she approached the large stairs. She looked at the people in the ballroom! It was beautifully lighted and decorated. She started feeling her cheeks getting hot and she took a deep breathe and went to the top of the stairs with Suhani. Everyone turned their attention and saw the two girls. Ashlesha was amazed and she smirked... she tapped Arjun's shoulder and he turned around and then Maan turned around.
Just then Maan saw Geet. She looked like an angel from heaven! He couldn't take his eyes off of her. She looked perfect. Arjun looked at Maan and smirked, " Saale sahib!" Maan ignored him and kept on staring at Geet. Ashlesha and Arjun smiled at eachother and gave eachother a thumbs up. Geet looked at everyone and then she took her first step down. Suhani was there to support her and she gave a tiny thumbs up to Ash and Arjun. Geet then saw Maan looking at her. Her cheeks felt even more hot. She felt like falling on her face. She slowly made her way down the stairs and she finally made it down. She took a deep breath and Ashlesha came to hug her. " Geet! you look gorgeous!" said Ash. " Oh shush... Ash I didn't know that you looked so good in dark green!" said Geet. " Oh shutup Geet! you look like a pari!" said Ash.
Geet laughed and Maan was still staring at her. Arjun was too busy drinking but he still was trying to conceal his laughter from Maan. Arjun finally put his hand on his shoulder and Maan snapped out of it and he said, " Peee looon!.. tere neele neele naino se shabnam!!" Maan was a little embarassed. " Chal yaar.. lets drink!" said Arjun. Maan nodded and he took a sip of his drink. Although he was still staring at Geet. Geet felt his gaze upon her and she felt a little warm inside.
" Let's go see Ash" said Arjun. Maan nodded and he went towards the girls. Maan saw Geet upclose... he was mesmerized by her again! " Hi Maan" said Geet. " Hi Geet.. you look good.." said Maan. " Thanks! you too! the white sherwani suits you as well!" said Geet. He did look so hot! His half open sherwani displaying his killer abs! It was only a sneak peak for many people!
Later on, everyone ate and they had their tea and desserts. While eating Geet felt a little sick. Ashlesha noticed her discomfort and she said, " Take a walk! its a little stuffy". Geet nodded and she went out. Maan saw her and he decided to follow her outside until Arjun put his hand on his houlder and said, " Tell her". " Tell her what?" said Maan trying to pretend. " Don't pretend with me Maan... you told me everything and now its your time to tell her... tell her now" said Arjun. " But... I can't-" began Maan. " GO!" said Arjun. Maan gave up. It was in his heart to tell her... he nodded and followed her outside.
