All you lovely readers....thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment in detail on my FF....your encouragement means a lot.🤗
She stood before the mansion-like house.
The lights were switched off but she knew he was inside.
She walked ahead slowly, her shoes making tiny sounds as they moved over the damp ground.
Taking out a key from her pocket, she opened the door and stepped inside.
She was grateful that he had given her a spare key.........she could always find him whenever he tried to lose himself.
She looked around.
Darkness.
He had become so addicted to it.
She walked further into the house, her fingers moving over the switches, bringing the light back into the house.
Climbing the stairs, she hoped he wasnt where she thought he was.
She passed his bedroom and headed straight towards the room situated at the the far end of the corridor.
It was where he always escaped.
Her hand paused on the doorknob........she knew what she would find inside.
Taking a deep breath, she walked into the room.
----------------------------------------------------------
She flinched as the sounds grew sharper and sharper with each passing second.
Her eyes followed him as he smoothly delivered swift blows to a punching bag.
It had been quite some time since she had entered the room but he wasnt aware of her presence yet.
She sighed and shook her head slightly at the man in front of her, as he continued to torture his hands.
So many years had passed and still there was so much anger in him.
His eyes were focused solely on the punching bag but she knew by looking at the intensity in them that his mind had traveled back to the past.
It was difficult for her to watch him like this.............but she knew he needed to do this.
He had too much pain suppressed inside him and this was his only way of letting it all out.
She called out to him softly but he didnt respond.
She felt wetness in her eyes and looked away from him......she hated it when he did this to himself.
He was the only person because of whom she had learned to live again but she couldnt see him like this.......couldnt see him torture himself....not like this.
Opening her eyes, the first thing she spotted was blood on his knuckles.
She knew that he deliberately never wore his boxing gloves.
He had once told her that the physical pain distracted him from the storm of thoughts that raged in his mind.
Enough, she thought.
It was time to intervene. She strode forward determinedly and in a brisk movement, snatched the bag away from him.
His chest heaved with exertion.
"Move out of my way."
"No. I wont."
His eyes turned darker.
Anyone else would have instantly moved away from him seeing that look in his eyes but not her.
She was used to this.
He stepped closer to her.
"Please.....let it go."
"No....you need to stop doing this to yourself."
Finally losing control over his anger, he grabbed her arms involuntarily bringing her even more closer.
"What's it you anyway? Huh? Why do you care?!"
His tone was harsh and his hands were hurting her.
But she remained silent and stared back at him defiantly.
She always did.....................because she knew he didnt mean to hurt her.
She knew he didnt like behaving this way with her.
But sometimes he couldnt help it.
She was the only one who understood the agony inside him.....she was only one who absorbed his anger without questioning him.
He was an expert in masking his emotions but not with her.
He suddenly seemed to realize what he was doing and let her go.
His eyes lost the wild look that had taken over them as they looked away.
She had always come to him whenever he found himself slipping over the edge.Walking away from her to the other side of the room, he sat on the floor.
"You........you should go."
She did leave the room only to return with a first aid box and seated herself in front of him.
His fingers were clenched in tight fists......there was still too much restless energy in him.
Without a word, she took his hands in hers and gently started to bandage them.
His hands loosened slowly as her fingers traced the old callouses on his hand that had gathered over the years.
Tears threatened to spill over her eyes but she managed to hold them in.
She hated crying......six years ago she had resolved never to cry again.
Btu sometimes the man in front of her had the ability to shake the walls of that resolve.
He stared at her as she kept her head down intent on her task.
He knew she hated this......and yet she never told him anything.
He moved his hand and slowly raised her chin to make her look at him.
There were unshed tears in her eyes.......and anger.....at him.
He smiled wryly at her and caught the lone teardrop that had managed to escape.
"Promise me.....promise you will never do this to yourself again........please."
He looked into her eyes and saw how deeply pained she was.
Much to her surprise, he nodded his head.
She didnt expect him to.
But how could he refuse? After all, it was the first time Shilpa had asked for a promise from Siddhant.
