He paid for the fast food with a pair of 500 bucks and the told the kid to keep the change, riddhima could barely restrain herself across the table to snatch money away from the boy, having worked herself in a coffee shops n restaurants in serving department she do know that tipping well but not that well at least not when she is being not on the side of receiving one
She hadn't eat since last night n smell of Chinese cuisine making her nuts but still she ordered the most cheapest one of all
"Here is my share of 45 bucks" she passed the money from her not so filled wallet
He gazed with open distaste to the coins and said "My Treat"
"I always pay myself"
"Not this time" he slid the coin bucks back to her and said "You can do a sketch for me instead"
"Oye, hello my sketches are worth more than 45 bucks" she said trying not think low of his sketches
"Don't forget the ride lady"
She was eating her greasy fry n he half eaten his burger to look his blackberry to find a mail again from his house keeper
"What happened any old boy friend is bothering you?"riddhima asked to irritate him seeing him frown at the phone, she surely don't like him in frown
For a moment he looked blank not getting what exactly she is talking, it took a a while to recollect the drama n he shook his and said "My new house keeper at farm near pushkar, she mails me every day about the things going but whenever I call her, all I get is voice mail, It's been two months and I still haven't talked to her in person, my real estate agents says Mrs.Mehra is great but I feel something is not right"
Riddhima could imagine owning a house let alone having a house keeper for it
"If you are from kolkatta how end up buying a farm in rajasthan"
"I was down there with my friends I could have bought a coast line house but the farm holds some thing, it holds peace, it is the middle of beautiful valley you ever seen, It has a pond, lots of privacy, room for horses which is something I've always wanted but the house needed a lot of work so my real estate agent found a contractor and hired this Mrs.Mehra to oversee everything.
For riddhima he talked more like a newlywed bride who wants to settle, damn she is jealous of him like really so want to believe him as a girl friend of hers, damn how idiotic she is to even think about that when she knew the truth of him
"If I had a house, I would have fix it myself"
"I send her digital pics n pain samples n she got a great taste n it works out"
"But still it won't be the same as being there"
"That's exactly why I've decided to surprise her by a visit"
He checked his blackberry to see a mail again from his agent, got up from his seat and went out to catch on the signal right and called him back "Abhi, I have seen ur mail n I am not interested in doing any after shower endorsement, I would prefer something like sports drink or.." he went silent his mouth curled in to a smile "that much for the bloody damn after shower one, My face is as good as open cash register"
Whatever said the other man in the phone but it made Armaan laugh, a big thoroughly masculine one which didn't missed out from riddhima ofcourse
"gotta go, tell ur wife that she is invited to my place when I get to Delhi, just nikki and me" with a laugh he shut the phone and went inside and muttered "my agent" to which riddhima returned a I-should-have-known look
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Armaan drove to interstate as soon as their on the high way and riddhima realized she was chewing her nails out of tension in her n put the hands back down
"So where u want me drop you off?" asked Armaan sounding as serious as possible
The question she was dreading was before her now, she pretend to think over it "Unfortunately there is any big cities between, Jaipur would right place I think"
He shot a who-do-you-think-you're-kidding look "I was thinking to find decent lines to jaipur over next bus or truck stop over" he said the obvious
"Well except u are a people person, u would be bored without my company, I can keep you entertained"
"And how exactly is that"
"Car games, I know dozens" she said the first thing in her mind
He snorted his disapproval which made her continue "I am also a great conversationalist, I can interfere your female fans whom u obviously don't like, I can keep them off from you"
His blue-gray eyes flickered but whether from irritation or amusement, she didn't know "I will think about it" he said
Somewhat to Armaan surprise the beaver girl is still in his car that night even after they exited the jaipur border long while back and he drove toward "Happy Inn" board, She stirred while he pulled into parking lot
While she sleep he have more than enough time to study the features of face, she did have the flawless skin which requires no artificial glow not that he didn't like woman with makeup, hell he is so used to like it but nikita long ago changed or rather spoiled his prosperity toward the heavy makeup saying
"Hell with you guys, can't you understand the simple logic, the more a girl with makeup, the more she is covering up her flaws, guys like you make any girl with decent looks inferior if she is not shiny like others, makeup is good but heavy makeup just displays the fear of you to expose your real self to world"
She made him feel, he was the whole reason for the craziness toward the fairness cream in females, but she is like that n nikki is the true female friend armaan ever had from college, but in between her marriage to Abhimany Modi, his sucking agent and a wonderful friend and with her new born baby, she couldn't exactly had time to hang out with more often now
He is thinking a lot about Nikita today, may be because riddhima have strong opinions too and she doesn't seem to impress him, it was odd being a with a woman who is not hitting on you, at least it is for Armaan, of course he had said he was a gay but she would had figured it was all trash at least a hundred miles ago, still she kept trying to play him, well two can play the game, don't they and with him sporting is not new at all and he is in for it
While he was thinking of it, riddhima woke with yawn which froze as soon as she say a well lit building, as much as she become a troublesome to him thinking he would handle her a few hundreds of bucks and throw her out, for one he wanted me to ask the money or she is been a good company today
"I hope these places accept credit cards"
"I don't have any credit cards to bother" she said keeping her lips compressed
No big surprise, thought armaan
"I abused the privilege trusting myself too much" she read the Happy Inn sign "what are going to do with your car"
"Tip the security to watch it"
"How much?"
"Why do you care?" he felt odd and to know what's cooking her mind
"I am artist and I am interested in human behavior"
"50 bucks now and some more for the morning"
"Excellent" she held out her hand "you have got yourself a deal"
"You're not watching my car" he said finally gaining the intention of the investigation
"Don't worry I am light sleeper, I will get up as soon as someone get closer"
"You're not sleeping in it either"
"Don't tell me you are one of those who think women can't work" she snapped him back irritated
"What I think is you cannot afford a room" he got out of the car "I will sport you"
She shot her sharp nose up in the air and followed him saying "I don't need anybody 'sporting' me"
"Really?"
"What I need is for you to let me guard your car"
"Not going to happen"
He could see her trying to find a way around him and he wasn't completely surprised when she began to counting off the price list of her portraits
"Even taking out the cost of a hotel room and a few meals, my portrait costs more than it and so the money is saved and you will just make another deal here to have me guard your car and tomorrow I will start sketching you" riddhima rattled her the words in her mind
The last thing he needed was another portrait of himself, what he really need was…
"You can start tonight" he said
"Tonight? It's…awfully late"
"Its barely nine o'clock"
Damn the day can get worse ending than this,spending the night with this handsome stranger thought riddhima and preparing herself for one long night
