Piya could tell Abhay already cottoned onto her state of mind. For some reason he always knew how she felt just by simply looking at her. Piya gave him a little half-hearted smile. Abhay always took her breath away. Did the guy ever have an off day? He always looked immaculate. Perfect compared to her own ordinary looks. At Kabir's palace because thats what it looked like to Piya. It didn't look at all like a home but almost as if the place were fit for royalty. It was huge like Abhay's place. Misha got into the party grove as soon as she set foot in the place. Misha sure was a party animal. Danish and Panchi were so in love with each other. Kabir mentioned the party was a bit of a romantic gesture for Danish as a favour. Piya wondered what the whole deal was? The room was dark filled with neon lights. Trust Kabir to throw a party this big.
Abhay took Piya to a corner concerned by her behaviour. Piya was mad at herself for struggling to hide her emotions. She was like an open book. Abhay felt Piya's forehead. It was warm but not feverish. Piya took Abhay's arms around her waist and just looked at him. Piya could only see Abhay. The perfect guy for her completely flawless. She tried hard to look beyond the extraordinary chiselled features deep into his eyes where she got lost in deep waters filled with an emotion she wasn't familiar with. Piya thought questions upon questions like Abhay what are U hiding from me? If i ask U will U honestly answer it? Do i have the guts to even face the truth? So much secrecy. So much to learn yet why did everything always seem rushed on her part. Piya was in a tug of war with her own mind.
Piya-"I'm fine Abhay. Just tired. Having trouble sleeping right. I keep waking up from this recurring nightmare." Piya didn't mention anything about her suspicions which she wasn't even sure were valid without proof.
Abhay-"U sure thats it. I keep thinking U are keeping something from me."
Piya-"U sure there's nothing U aren't keeping from me Abhay? Any little secrets i should know about. U seem to be good at picking up on my feelings then it must be i who is hiding something right. Just leave it Abhay. I'm just being cranky."
Abhay for the first time wasn't sure of what to say. He knew Piya would fit all the pieces it was just a matter of time. She had to do it by herself. This time he was doing things a little slower than before. Let Piya work it out herself. Abhay was just thankful that the process of reliving her past lives weren't as full on.
Abhay-"We can leave Piya if that's what U want. If you're not feeling well."
Piya-"Just hold me Abhay. It's not like a few hours will kill me. I want to enjoy myself tonight with the man i love. Is that so much to ask for?"
Abhay-"Fine. But if i see U U dropping off i'm taking U straight to the hostel."
Piya-"Ok. Now quit worrying about me and start enjoying the party."
Abhay-"I spoke to Mom and Dad. They are excited to meet U on Sunday."
Piya-"That's just in 2 days time Abhay. I'm so excited."
Abhay-"What? About my parents trust me they are just as dull as i am."
Piya-"U sell yourself so short Abhay! If they are your parents then they will be pretty extraordinary themselves." Piya gives Abhay a little kiss on the cheeks.
Abhay-"That's all i get for my effort?"
Piya-"We're in a room filled with strangers. I'm not going to kiss U on the lips now am i?"
Abhay gave Piya a wink and took Piya towards the stairs to meet up with Kabir looking cute in his casual party top. Piya thought he looked dashing in a friendly kind of way. Misha was already with him talking about her new motorbike she was working on her buttering her Dad Arnav for a raise in her pocket money. She wanted Kabir's opinion on the model. Piya gave Kabir a hug with one arm while she held Abhay's hand with her other. Abhay was gave Piya his disapproval look. This just made Piya smile. So Abhay does have chinks in his armour. He didn't me hugging guys. Especially those that may have feelings towards her. Piya figured out Kabir had some feelings for her after Tracker let the cat out of the bag. Kabir shook Abhay's hand one of those silly gang type of greetings that was childish in Piya's eyes but whatever worked for the blokes were their own thing. Piya saw Misha with some rum and Coke.
Piya-"Misha! I can't believe U have started drinking again. After all the problems U created last time. How many have U had?"
Misha-"Chill yaar. It's not full on alcohol. I mixed in some coke u want some don't U. I can handle my liqueur U know unlike those that have never tried any before. Relax Piya. U worry too much that's your problem babe. U take everything too seriously. Look at Abhay he needs a drink too. U both make a perfect couple. Don't U think Kabir? Piya needs a serious guy like U Abhay but U guys need to enjoy life more. Who knows Kal ho na ho? Kabir i just stole your line. Wooooohhhh. Lets kick this joint up a notch. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Piya-"Kabir U need to keep an eye on Misha. If she goes home in that state its your head."
Kabir-"Misha is a big girl. Besides I can't handle her when she's sober maybe she'll be ok when she's had a few. I'm pretty sure U know how she gets when people try to stop her from doing her own thing. She does the opposite."
Misha-"U mind if i take Abhay for a spin? He needs to chill. Come on bro i will show U how to get in the groove."
Misha takes Abhay down the steps stumbling a little on the way down. Abhay tries to get Piya to help him from Misha's mercy. He knew how Misha operated when she was drunk. She was a scary lady. He caught Piya smile at the party for the first time all day. Abhay could tell Piya was exhausted yet he was envious of Kabir spending time with Piya. He felt empathy towards Kabir. After all it wasn't easy to see the girl U love in the arms of another guy. Abhay wished Kabir found someone who would love him back but not Piya. Someone else. Kabir was a nice guy under the exterior he showed people an image of a tough guy who all the ladies loved at one point until he broke their heart. Abhay drew his attention back to the girl in his arms. Misha Dobrial was definitely the opposite of Piya. They were world's apart from each other. Misha the tomboy with a heart of gold was boisterous and had no care in the world full of confidence and love for life. Her features were sharp but Abhay could see the likeness with Piya. Now Piya was an introvert, quiet, strong willed, love for all around her and her beauty was one he couldn't compare anyone's too. Yes he was biased but for him thats what Piya was perfection. He was just lucky to have her in his life. Both of the girls were sisters along with Panchi but he couldn't tell them the truth. Abhay felt protective about all three sisters. He saw Misha as one of his own sisters. She had Parvara's spirit not in literally but she reminded him of her. Thats probably why he never took anything she said to heart.
Misha-"U do that a lot Abhay."
Abhay-"What?"
Misha-"Stare into space like U were having your own party in there. U brood too much. I think U need to take a leaf out of my book. Let loose. So what were U thinking about hey? Piya? U two are joint at the hips. Don't worry about her being with Kabir he won't break the brotherly code!"
Abhay-"Oh. The what code?"
Misha-"U really are a loner man. U know the one where one bro doesn't steal the other bros girl."
Abhay-"Right! Sorry i'm not used to socializing with people much."
Misha-"Figured as much. No tension. Misha will help U. There's nothing Misha can't do. Just make sure U stay in my good books right." Both pick up their tempo to dance to the beat of the music "Dynamite."
Abhay-"U remind me of a sister i had once."
Misha-"I'll tell U a secret. From this angle U are very cute. Don't tell Panchi this but U remind me of my brother. We're not allowed to talk about him."
Abhay-"U are a good friend to Piya."
Misha-"I can be a good friend to U too. Abhay just be good to Piya thats all i ask. I don't know why but when she's sad i feel really bad."
Abhay-"I'd like to be friends with U too. Misha i think the booze has gone to your head. U are a little over sentimental."
Misha-"Hey i'd rather be drunk and have an excuse to act a certain way. Don't want to ruin my street cred. I've spent ages showing i'm a tough cookie. U better not blow my cover."
Abhay-"Don't worry you're cover is safe with me."
Misha-"We've been gone a while haven't we? I better return U back to Piya before she calls the search party for us."
Kabir and Piya upstairs have a heart to heart themselves. They both look at Abhay and Misha together dancing away and chatting. Piya knew Abhay was being a gentleman. He was always considerate when it came to women in particular. Part of her wished Abhay was by her side now but Misha being a little tipsy could spring trouble for them. She was curious what they were chatting about. Normally Misha had nothing good to say about Abhay. Piya saw Kabir fidgeting with his fingers.
Piya-"U ok Kabir? You've been quiet for some time now. Its a little unnerving if U know what i mean. You aren't your bubbly self."
Kabir-"Can U blame me? I made a prat out of myself before. Now i don't really know what to say."
Piya-"It's the effort that counts. It takes a big person to brush any misgiving aside and mend bridges. I'm grateful that U are my friend."
Kabir-"So you're not mad at me anymore?"
Piya looks at Abhay on his way with Misha upstairs-"I can never be mad at U for long Kabir. U are one of my best friends. We are only human Kabir. We make mistakes but its what we do to fix them and learn from them is what counts."
Kabir-"He is very lucky to have U in his life Piya."
Piya-"Trust me Kabir. It is I who is lucky to have Abhay in my life. I'm sure there is a girl for U Kabir waiting in the wings to be found. U have to give her a chance."
Kabir-"I think i'm steering clear from women full stop."
Piya-"What about Misha? She's a great catch!"
Kabir laughs-"Misha is like my kid sister. I've known her forever. Never in my wild imagination could i ever think of her in that way. She's the only girl bar Panchi i've steered clear of. There are certain boundaries even i wouldn't cross."
Piya-"U have some ethics? U surprise me. Its a joke."
Kabir-"U not dancing?"
Piya-"Not feeling in the mood."
The music stops and the lights focus on Danish and Panchi. He bends down on one knee and asks Panchi the all important question. "Will U marry me?" Panchi accepts with tears in her eyes. Their friends all applause while .
Piya could feel her own tears flowing. They looked perfect together. Misha seemed happy until she randomly says.....
Misha-"Someone pass me the sick bucket!"
Kabir-"It's not all bad. U get Danish as a brother now."
Misha-"I'm about to hurl dumbo." She rushes to the bathroom.
Abhay-"I'll go in with her. Make sure she's ok."
Abhay knocks on the door. Misha lets him in. He holds her hair up while she spews everything out in the sink. Misha got herself cleaned up. While Abhay rushes out of there.
Piya-"Playing the knight already?"
Abhay-"She ok. I wasn't sure if U were feeling upto it are U ok?"
Piya-"I'm fine. Just happy for Panchi. She's lucky to find a guy that loves her so much."
Abhay-"Is that the only reason?"
Piya-"Abhay i don't know i keep feeling this weird feeling something bad is going to happen. U know. Lets just go enjoy tonight. I don't know if we'll get this chance again. Misha has kept U for a long time. I feel neglected."
Abhay didn't bother asking Piya what she meant.-"We mustn't have that now."
Piya and Abhay dance to the more music this time joined by Panchi and Danish. Misha just resigned to sitting on the sofa with Kabir for company. The party was a success. Piya and Kabir had their friendship back on track. Misha was bonding with Abhay.
