PART 5

Maan looked at Geet . He looked away and said," haan Geet. Kal ek important function hein mere ghar mein. Kal meri Sagayi hein."

Geet stood there blankly not knowing what to react.

Maan turned and looked at Geet. He felt guilty telling Geet about his engagement. He felt like he was cheating on her. Geet did marry someone else, but Maan has never moved on, and he somehow felt that he would never move on.

Maan's remembered naina's words. He cannot afford to forget that he is getting engaged to Sameera tomorrow. His whole family will be disappointed and dadima will be shattered. He had to control his feelings for Geet. He looked at Geet with a straight face and said ,"haan Geet kal meri engagement hein."

Geet was shaken. She knew that maan had all right to move on. She was the person who left him. What did she expect?? Maan will stay in her memories all life and never live his life?? She knew it was right for Maan to marry someone else and move on. But it was easier said than accepted. It was hard to digest the fact. After all these years, inspite of marrying someone else, she never stopped loving Maan. Thanks to her husband he made her realise what she lost every day she lived with him. Geet put a fake smile and said ,"congratulations. Lag rahan mein kawab mein haddi banker aa gayi. I can go and stay somewhere else. Please don't trouble yourself for me."

Maan said,"No Geet. Please stay here for now. Once my engagement is done we can figure out what to do next. Please go to sleep now. If you have any problem ring me in my mobile."

Maan was about to leave when Geet asked,"what is her name Maan?"

Maan turned and looked at Geet. She was looking somewhere else. Maan replied,"Sameera."

Geet said," Lucky girl. Is she very beautiful?"

Maan replied,"Good night Geet" and left the place. He couldn't believe that Geet asked him about Sameera's looks. How did it matter? However good looking she is she will never be his Geet. Maan was reminded of the day he met Geet in Pia's wedding.

4 years before:

Maan dropped Naina back at home, changed and left to office. He could not forget Geet. Maan did not wear his perfume after changing. He smelled the bottle and he felt may be she was right. Till yesterday that was Maan's favourite perfume and after Geet has commented about it he was doubtful about it. Maan thought he was going crazy.

He entered office. Sasha and Adi entered to give their regular reports and updates. Sasha was talking about some design changes but Maan was lost in geet's thoughts. He was reminded about herself talk and her expressions when she spilled the badam milk on him. He started smiling unknowingly. Sasha and Adi were surprised.

Sasha called his name and asked if everything was ok. Maan snapped from his thoughts and said yeah he was fine and quickly wrapped up the meeting and send them back. He was surprised by his own behaviour. He thought," Yeah Geet was intriguing because she answered him back. Thats it nothing else. She was not exceptionally beautiful. Just dressed well because of wedding. May be pink suited her. Anyways a lot of girls will be there in Sangeet and after seeing all of them together he will understand that she was nothing different. He will get over this. He had always got over girls"

Maan reached home on time. He entered his room and he found his party wear suit ready on bed. He knew Naina would have asked Nakul to put it out so that he will remember about the sangeet. Maan never forgot about, he was restless the whole day thinking about it. He will meet Geet again. He changed and wore a mild perfume. Naina and Dev were already ready. Maan said that they can leave.

Naina, "Veerji, aapne perfume change kar li. Kyun??mein aur dadi aapki perfume se jaan jathe de ki aap ghar aa chuke ho. Kya hua?? Ek minute, did you change perfume because of that girl. Wow she did affect you right. Finally ....."

Maan interrupted and said," Naina please control your imagination. My perfume got over thats it. So shall we leave."

Naina made a baby face and moved to the car. She had her secret agenda made forthe evening.She was going to observe if her Veerji was attracted to this Girl.

They reached the venue and the whole place was filled with laughter and music. All three of them met the bride and groom and their parents and wished them. They sat comfortably and waited for the function to start. Naina saw that Maan's eyes were scanning the crowd, as if he was looking for someone. She was observing Maan when some asked her.

"Hi, please take some juice." Geet said,"you are looking very pretty."

Naina smiled and introduced Dev to her. Geet conveyed her regards to him and turned towards Maan.

She said,"hmmm...excuse me. Please take the juice."

Maan who was busy looking for her was stunned to see her in front of him. She looked breath taking in the peacock blue lehenga. He had come today to look at her again and confirm that she was not any pari. Well he was wrong, she was very pretty and she knew to pull the strings of his heart.

Geet was irritated with his dazed expression,"excuse me. Aaapko juice nahin chahiye."

Maan snapped from his thoughts and said," No. For godsake don't bring anything in front of me. I am not interested to go home and change my clothes now. Between who is the one asking a person like you to serve things."

Geet said," If you don't want to take juice then don't take it. I don't need to answer your silly questions." She stomped away in anger.

Maan was looking at Geet. She was walking to serve others , when some kids ran towards her and she lost her balance and spilled everything on the floor. Geet got irritated and was trying to catch the kids to scold when she caught Maan's eyes. Maan was smiling sarcastically with a look i-told-you. Geet became more angry and stomped away. Naina was delightful reading all expressions in Maan's face.

Present:

Maan stood in his balcony think about the good old days. Dadima came in and saw Maan smiling. She was very happy. She touched Maan's shoulders and Maan snapped from his thoughts. She said," I am so happy to see you smile. Its so relieving to see you moving on. I am sure Sameera will keep this smile intact in your face always. Beta sleep soon. Take rest."

Maan stood there after dadi left. Everything just seemed like yesterday. He wished he could go back in time.
