Maan: Jaanu?!

Geet: Jee Sir my lovely puppy Jaanu. Maan shook his head and Geet heard him mumble something about women, dogs and silly names and smiled to herself. That was a close call, she put her phone down and started working, with a few occasional breaks to check on how Riddhima was doing.

Part 8

Riddhima peeked from her hiding place behind the lockers. According to Geet Armaan was supposed to be at the hospital by 9 this morning and she had arrived earlier so that she could put their plan into action.

Geet wanted Riddhima to torture Armaan a bit before she finally came in front of him, it would make their reunion so much more sweeter was how she phrased it. Hence the half brained scheme to drive him crazy by giving him glimpses of Riddhima throughout the day.

Armaan arrived at the hospital right on time and Riddhima's heart leapt when she looked at him. Gone was the spring in his step, the twinkle in his eye yet he had retained his smile.

He looked tired to her and all she wanted to do was to run up to him and embrace him but she was under strict orders from Geet. Riddhima looked around to check if the coast was clear and then took his name in her sweet voice.

Riddhima: Armaan! He immediately looked up.

This was a voice he recognized all too well. It was his baskets voice. He looked around hoping for a miracle. But then realized that he was no longer in Sanjeevani, his basket would not walk through the doors of this hospital, he would never hear the sound of his name from her lips again. He shook his head sadly and went back to getting ready for his shift.

Riddhima: Armaan! He looked up again.

Armaan: Armaan beta you are losing it. I think I need to see a psychiatrist. Basket yahan thodi hai. He said to himself. Riddhima was enjoying herself immensely, although she hated the sad look on his face, his reaction was just too hilarious.

Throughout the day she played a cat and mouse game with him, calling out to him and going in front of him only to hide away when he came closer.

Armaan was convinced that he was losing grip on reality, he was questioning his sanity when he saw Riddhima for a third time that day and grabbed a hold of the nurse that was passing by him.

Armaan: Nurse, Do you see a girl standing there?

Nurse: Yes sir!

Armaan: Describe her to me please.

Nurse: She is tall, fair, she is wearing a pink suit, oh and she is holding a baby.

Armaan looked away from the nurse when he heard this. He glanced over at where the nurse was looking and saw some girl there holding a baby.

Armaan: Not her, I'm talking about another girl.

Nurse: Sir are you feeling alright? She asked giving him a weird look.

Armaan: I don't know. Thank you, you can go now.

Thus he spend his entire day chasing a ghost, constantly looking over his shoulder for another glimpse of her.

Later that day, tired and exhausted from work and all that chasing, he made his way home ready to slump in bed and go to sleep. When he entered the house he could smell his favorite dish simmering on the stove and realized how hungry he really was. He made his way to the kitchen and sniffed the air appreciatively.

Armaan: Geet! You made my favorite! Thanks, he called out and came to an abrupt halt when he saw not Geet but Riddhima in front of him, stirring something in the pot.

Armaan: Oh God I'm hallucinating again.

He closed his eyes and opened them again to find that the image had not moved. He moved closer taking in how real she seemed.

Armaan: This is one dream I don't want to wake up from. I miss you basket, I miss you so much, he whispered.

Riddhima: Tou kyun chale gaye mujhe chod ker?

Armaan: Main aur kya karta Riddhima? I didn't want you to have to choose between your love and your family. He said.

He really could not get over how real she looked, he saw tears glistening in her eyes and wanted to reach out and wipe them away.

Riddhima: Ab wahan khade mujhe dekhte raho ge kya? Come here dummy she said.

Armaan moved towards her automatically. This was the part where she usually disappeared, or when he woke up from his dream. He stepped closer towards her and was relieved that she did not disappear immediately.

He stood there gazing at her when all of a sudden without a warning she closed the gap between them and gave him a hug.

Armaan was bewildered, when had he fallen asleep? How could this be? While these thoughts were running around in his head he closed his arms around her and pulled her close. She felt like heaven to him, it all felt too real.

Armaan: I never want to wake up again, he said and heard Riddhima giggle.

He smiled and then let out a little scream when he felt someone pinch his arm. He glanced down to see Geet standing next to him grinning like a chimpanzee.

Geet: That was to let you know that you are very much awake. This is no dream. Armaan looked at Geet then looked at Riddhima who was still in his arms and was smiling up at him.

Armaan: Pinch me again please, he said and then let out another squeal when both Geet and Riddhima pinched him.

He gazed at Riddhima in awe and then let out a cry of joy before crushing her to him, his lips seeking hers and then clinging to them.

Geet: Hey! Wait till I'm out of the room ok, she said cheekily before walking out to give the two some much needed privacy.

Armaan held Riddhima close to him as he gently feathered her face with soft kisses. He then took her lips in a soft mind numbing kiss that seemed to go on forever. The two resurfaced panting for breath and smiled at each other.

Armaan: I love you basket!

Riddhima: I love you too Armaan.

Armaan: But how did you' I mean where did you'wait was it you in the hospital today?

Riddhima: I don't know what you're talking about, she said mischievously and Armaan grinned before picking her up in his arms and walking out of the kitchen.

He paused when he entered the dining room where Geet had set up a romantic candle light dinner. At the very moment Geet came rushing out of her room with her overnight bag.

Geet: I'll be over at Pinky's if you need me. I'm sure you guys have a lot of catching up to do. Have fun but not too much fun. Oh and don't do anything I wouldn't do she added with a wink before running out the door. Armaan and Riddhima laughed at her parting remark then sat down to eat before they could talk.
