Part 27
Sid had finished up his work and was sitting back to finally enjoy his Coke when Shilpa walked back into the cafe. Sid couldn't help but grin at the way 'always put together' Shilpa looked so down and dragged. She came over and collapsed in a chair next to Sid and went to snag his Coke out of his hand. Sid quickly reacted by pulling his arm back and said, "Oh no! I don't think so. This is my treat for finishing all of my work." He then went to show off by taking a giant gulp of his drink. Shilpa immediately started pouting and said, "Cmon, bhaiya dont be so mean. I just worked in the ED." She tried her sad puppy eyes which had the complete opposite effect on Sid. He actually burst out laughing. Shilpa couldn't believe it her sweet bhaiya was laughing at her state after working one of the busiest and hardest ED shifts. She was about to try another tactic to gain sympathy when Sid cut her off by saying, "Two words sis. Pay back."
Shilpa knew she was toast. After what she had pulled earlier she was lucky that that was all Sid was torturing with. She conceded...for now. Instead she signaled to the barista that she wanted a Diet Coke, after all she was the Shilpa her charms may not work on her bhaiya but others weren't immune. Sid saw Shilpa's out and just shook his head in pity for the poor guy behind the counter. Once her drink had been delivered and she had taken enough sips to feel the effects of caffeine she looked up at Sid signaling that she was ready to start a convo now.
Sid smiled and started off with the usual, "I take it the ED was busy?" Shilpa let out a breath and responded with, "Hell ya! That place is such a zoo I swear it's like the people in this city wait for me to go on shift before they come in with the most ridiculous stories for their injuries." She then went on to tell Sid what was the best one of the night, while he looked her over. He couldn't help but be grateful that the Shilpa he once knew was finally emerging through the darkness that had once overcome her.

Sue's anger shot up as the hand prevented her from slamming the door shut like she had wanted for so long. But the hand was ever steady
refusing to budge. Sue let go of some of her force and let the door open half way and stood with her arms crossed and her foot tapping waiting. She decided to give the person 30 seconds to start talking, although she knew from past experience that even if she had given the
person 30 minutes it wouldn't have made a difference. The person never actually said anything they simply tried to communicate
nonverbally. Even though in the end it left everyone even more confused than if they had said something from the first. Sue glanced
at her watch and waited for the seconds to tic by.

Riddhima had reached her destination and she couldn't believe her luck. Of course, something like this would happen. She had left her
motel room to try and escape her past and try to make amends with her sister so that she could move forward towards her future. But onceagain fate had intervened and she had no idea what to do at this crossing. But as she watched as yet another piece of her past life stood in front her she could tell that this was possibly the worst one she'd have to face. And time was ticking for her to try and make it out as unscathed as possible. It had taken her a few minutes to even realize what had happened. She had gotten the address from the white pages and hadn't given it a second thought when she drove to it. The last thing she had expected was to see this piece of her past standing in front of her. Had she known she would have prepared herself, would
have prepared what to say. But if she was truly honest with herself then she wouldn't have even come. But here she was and there were some things that just needed to be said, and it seemed this was going to have to be the time to do it.

Sue watched as the seconds ticked off. She had thought that after all this time she wouldn't really care what this person had to say. That not even hearing a word wouldn't make a difference. But as the time counted down and the person barely made an effort to even make eye contact let alone start ticking. Sue started feeling that rare anger start to bubble. With each second passing the anger rose, until the last second ticked off and Sue couldn't stop the cork from popping. "How dare you show up here at my doorstep!!! What makes you think I want you here, that anyone wants you here?? It clearly didn't matter enough to you to show up a few years ago. Then why now? What do you hope to accomplish??" Sue waited a few seconds to see if her words would do anything. She didn't expect much. But it seemed as though either her words or her tone must have done something because the person suddenly looked up their eyes registering shock. Sue waited a few seconds but was met with silence. This only seemed to ignite Sue's anger even more, "SERIOUSLY!!! Are you freaking kidding me?? You come to my house unannounced and then ring my bell and then just stand there. Like a freaking puppet?!? Well you know what? You dont have to say anything. I will. It's about time I give you a piece of my mind...

Sid had decided to wait for Shilpa's shift to end. It had taken most of her shift for him to finish his paperwork and he decided he'd use what time he had left over to check in with the staff at the hospital. After all, there was a reason he was so loved at the hospital. Once Shilpa was ready to leave they both got into the car and headed back home. He could tell that Shilpa was exhausted, working the evening shift in the ED could do that to a person. But during the drive home he couldn't help but notice something. When Shilpa was that tired she wasn't able to keep the mask on her face. The one that made Sid suspicious but prevented him from having any proof that the incident with Aakash wasn't completely out of her mind. As she stared out the window Sid could see in the window's reflection the same pain and yearning he had so often seen in his own eyes. Shilpa wasn't okay, and Sid hated seeing her hurting and even more so feeling the need to hide it from the ones who loved her. Sid could feel a plan forming in his head, but before he decided to act on it he wanted to run it by someone to see if he should go through with it.
