Great update .. kids at uni and all!! tell me about it .. when mine come back there is so much stuff .. the front room becomes a luggage area till they go back!! So I can appreciate Geet's and Thomas's predicament!! lol!!

Today's episode has everyone in turmoil!! Gurmeet's acting was soo good that yoiu could almosr hear his heart breaking .. truly paikful and Drashti .. imagine what her character had to go thru?? You finally realise that for the first time in your life you respect, trust, beleive and love someone but you can't commit to that relationship because you carry a stigma that even her own family would rather she died than have to accept it!!

Dear Uzma,

I am feeling a lot better now. Thanks for thinking of my health and being concerned. It is nice to know that there are people who care.

Yeh! For some reason, Uni kids always end up with a lot of stuff, when I was in Uni I seemed to make a space in all my friends closets. Everyone of them at the end of the semester showed up with my stuff. I tend to make a home for myself everywhere I go.

Yesterday's episode was heart breaking and today's wasn't any better. Okay, it was a little better, I am hopeful of Pari's character.

Well I hope you like today's update.

Keep reading and commenting.

Polki

Enough of my rant .. please look after yourself and feel better!! ❤️

Dear Sweet Scorpio,

I am so happy that I achieved some comedy. I wanted to portray Thomas in a really frazzled state. So many parents go through this every year. Poor guy didn't know what hit him.

You don't have to wait for the India trip anymore. Geeta is in India.

Dear beautiful lovely readers in Maneetland,

I am back, from now on the rant will take place before the update.

So where should I start...

So today's episode, I was a little saddened by Maan's behavior. Don't get me wrong, I can understand where he is coming from. But I just thought he would see the light once he remembered how he got the lipstick marks. But no, he is really dense and the storage room. What is up with that, no one cleans that out. I am not saying throw out the old stuff, but at least dust it once in a while so that wildlife cannot find sanctuary in it. What was with the pigeons? 😆 Anyways, I am a little hopeful when it comes to Pari's character. She is living up to her name. Please continue on your fact finding mission dear Pari and bring them together. I hope when Geet tells the truth about her past Maan remembers what she said about getting hurt when you don't find out what the road(past) is made off.

Enough with the show, now my health, I am feeling a lot better. Thank you all for being concerned for me. I truly appreciate all you guys.

Okay people, we are getting new readers everyday, but are you all doing the part. Have you been telling your friends about this FF.

As for the comments, you guys are getting better, but you need to tell me what you liked and what you didn't. Constructive criticism never hurt anyone. So tell me what you really think. Also all you people who haven't commented yet, I think since we are approaching update 20, it is time for you to comment. I cannot force you to do anything but it would be nice to see what you all think.

Now finally what you guys have been waiting for. Today's update is only a few sentences away.. I hope you all enjoy it. It is nice and long.

As always, keep reading and commenting.

Part 19

June had arrived and Geet was beginning to get anxious about Geeta's impending trip to India. They had spent the last month together, Geet had taken time off and the two of them had taken a road trip to California. It had been an experience that Geet would never forget and was certain that she would recommend this experience to everyone she knew. June 20th was soon approaching and although Geet had made all the arrangements for the two girls in Delhi.

Geeta was in her room, she tried to fingure out exactly what she needed to take with her to India. She had no real experience of being away in another country so she wanted to go well prepared. She decided to call Radha, she travelled a lot and Geeta was sure that Radha would have a plan, she always did. If it weren't for Radha, Geeta wouldn't be going to India. She dialed Radha's number.

In Germany it was 4pm. Radha was just returning from the Zeil, she had gone shopping, she was certain that once she got home, she would have to answer some questions regarding her latest exploits at the stores. She remembered how on returning from the US, her mom had tried to talk to her about her shopping habits. The key word was 'tried', no one in her family had ever said no to her and that is exactly how she lived life, never denying herself anything. Never having the fear of consequences, this philosophy had allowed her to go on many adventures and experience many things. In a few days she was going on another, "India here I come" she thought to herself. Just then her phone rang, it was Geeta.

Radha, "Hey, Geeta, what's going on?"

Geeta, "Nothing much, just trying to figure out what to pack for our trip to India. I thought you would be able to help."

Radha, "Yeah, of course. Wait, let me just get my list" Yes, Radha the constant list maker also had a list for the trip to India.

The two girls started to discuss the climates that they were going to experience while in India, Radha had packed accordingly and thought, Geeta should do the same. She also reminded Geeta that she needed to go see her doctor and get the Malaria medication.

While the girls were on the phone, Geet was still nervous about Geeta's trip to India and she called Maan.

Maan, "Hello" He was now used to the frequent calls from Geet, his immediate reaction of panic was now replaced by joy. For some reason their relationship seemed like a normal long distance relationship in the last year.

Geet, "Hi, are you free? I need to talk, if you are busy I will call back later."

Maan, "I am always free for you." As he answered he had a smile on his face. If one who didn't know him were watching they would have never guessed he was in his early 40s as all they would have seen was a man who was talking to his first crush. He had a boyish charm about him.

Geet, "Well that is great to hear, but enough of the sarcasm. I want to talk about Geeta accommodation while she is in Delhi.

Maan, "We already talked about this in detail at least 10 times in the last 3 months. There is nothing to worry about. You are starting to test my patience. I don't know what exactly you are worried about, and do you really think that while I am here any harm will come to her."

Geet, "I understand what you are trying to say, but remember you are not supposed to come face to face with her. You are not to interfere in her life in anyway, remember that. I don't want her to start asking questions"

Maan, "Geet, just like I told you earlier, she is going to live in the apartments across from Pinky and Adi's house. Since I own the building, you don't have to worry about her security. Also you don't have to worry about me, it took 18 years to see you face to face, I am not going to mess things up by being impatient. We are meant to be together and we will be together eventually." he took a deep breath and continued, "Okay enough about me staying away from Geeta, let me tell you how her accommodation is set up here. She will be staying in a two bedroom apartment on the 5th floor in Maaneet Apartments. The apartment is one we use for corporate clients, it has all the amenities she would have in NYC. Pinky and Adi are right there if she needs anything and they will go pick her and her friend up from the airport when they arrive here on the 21st. She is a grown up and she will figure her way around Delhi, if need be she will call a taxi. I hope you are at peace now."

Geet, "I am at peace, I am just nervous, for the first time she is not going to be where I can reach her. For the first time I am letting her go, I am scared."

Maan, "Don't be scared, her father is here to protect her."

Geet, "Fine, I will talk to you the day she leaves. Pink and Adi already have her flight information. I love you.

Maan, "I love you too."

________________________________________________________________

June 20th had come and gone and Geeta was standing at Indira Ghandi Airport. She could smell India, she couldn't really put her finger on the smell or describe it. But it was wonderful. She recalled her friends Hemali and Robert. She laughed to herself remembering a conversation she had heard them having. It was at one of the conferences she had attended with them, they had been standing in the elevator.

Robert, "What smells so good?"

Hemali, "You like it, it is my new perfume. How do I smell?" she moved closer to him.

Robert, "You smell like Curry and Yogurt" he started making a face and laughed as soon as he saw of disbelief on Hemali's face.

Geeta too hadn't been able to control her laughter. Today as she stood on Indian soil, she had to agree with Robert, India smelled like Curry and Yogurt. She decided India smelled sweet, hot, sour, bitter, warm; the smell was pleasant, it stimulated the senses yet calmed the nerves.

She felt calm in the midst of the various noises that surrounded her, the only person who was capable of breaking the calm finally succeeded. Geet was pulled out of the serene place by Radha's excited talking.

Radha, "You know Geeta, this airport was named after India's first female Prime Minister. Her father was the first Priminister of India, her son too was Prime Minister. Do you also know that she is the world's all time longest serving female Prime Minister."

Geeta decided to put an end to Radha's history lesson. She just wanted to absorb everything about this moment, her first time visiting India, where she was born.

Geeta, "Wow, that is really interesting, but don't you think we should get through customs and go find Pinky Masi and Adi Mausaji."

Radha, "Yeah" Yeah, I am just so excited. I was so into coming to India that I made a list of all the fascinating things about everything including this airport. I just got carried away and couldn't help myself, I just had to share it with you." she took a breath, "lets get going, else we will be stuck here with me reading off my list." she giggled.

Geeta was glad that for once Radha had decided to put a leash on her excitement, getting through customs wasn't difficult when they noticed a white person accompanying her. She had noticed that they were giving other fellow Indians a hard time. It also helped that both of them were on student visas. She breathed a sigh of relief, now the coast was clear, there was absolutely nothing standing between her and her exploration of India. They went outside and once again the smell of India hit them. This time stronger than before. She saw her Pinky Masi and waved.

They finally got to Pinky Masi's house an hour later, the traffic had been terrible. Adi Mausa had suggested that they eat before going to their apartment. In the mean time he had arranged for their luggage to be dropped off at their new place. Her mom had told her that the apartment was located close to Pinky Masi's house just in case she needed help with anything, they were right there, Geeta contemplated exactly how close it was, it was right across the street from their house. Her mom had told her that the rent had been paid and no one would bother them while they lived at that apartment.

After having breakfast both Geeta and Radha proceeded to their new digs, they were impressed by the security guards, they got to their apartment and were surprised out of their minds. It was absolutely gorgeous, contemporary furniture, clean lines, its walls were painted in warm tones, reds, deep purples; and the furniture seemed to all belong to the black and while families. Who ever had decorated sure did have taste.

Radha, "OMG, OMG, Geeta do you know what this is?" she shrieked pointing at a picture on the wall in the living room.

Geeta who hadn't been paying attention to what Radha had been doing, turned to her and asked, "What?"

Radha, "It is Old Age, Adolescence, Infancy (The Three Ages) by Dali. He painted it in 1940. Isn't it fabulous?"

Geeta, "It looks okay. Really not my thing. It's too dark for me, sorta depressing, why must we be reminded of old age when we are young.?"

Radha, "To each his own." She wasn't going to let Geeta rain on her parade. She smiled "I am going to go see what other pictures are in this place."

Geeta, "Okay, while you go look at the museum of gloom, I will call my mother."

Geeta called Geet who had been waiting by the phone for the last 3 hours. She had known the time the flight reached Delhi and she was starting to get impatient. Anxiety was taking over and finally she decided to call Pinky as soon as she picked up the phone to call, it rang, she jumped out of her chair. It was a little scary, something you would watch in a bad horror movie. Geet looked at the caller id, and was so relieved to see that it was Geeta on the other end. In a second all her fears were put to rest, she picked up the call.

Geet, "Finally, meera baccha, what took you so long to call? Do you even know how worried I was, you landed 3 hours ago, what have you been doing that you didn't even think of calling your mother?"

Geeta, "Meeri pyari, mamma. I am so sorry that I called late, it took us an hour to get to Pinky Masi's house from the airport, she insisted that we eat breakfast before we were to go to the apartment. We just got in and I called right away."

Geet thought to herself, 'I should have known that Pinky would feed them before she let them settle in.' she focused back on Geeta, "so how is the apartment?"

Geeta, "Its nice, really chic, contemporary, but there is something amiss about it."

Geet, "What is wrong?"

Geeta, "Nothing really, just that who ever decorated it seems to be in a sad state of mind."

Geet, "What makes you say that?"

Geeta, "All the colors are dark, the furniture is all black or white and the pictures are all so gloomy."

Geet, "You know you can change it if you don't like the decor."

Geeta, "I don't know, it is decorated really nice, just not happy. Don't you think the landlord would mind me changing things?"

Geet, "The apartment you are living in is decorated to impress corporate clients, its not decorated for college kids, I think I can talk to the landlord about changing a few things. He shouldn't really care, if I pay him."

Geeta, "Okay, that sounds great. Call me once you have talked to him."

Geet, "Now that we have solved the decor problem, what are your plans for today?"

Geeta, "I don't know, I was just thinking of going with the flow, the flow of the river called Radha." she laughed and completed her thought, "I am sure she has a list; 'Things to do on the first day in India.' and I am sure what ever she has planned will be fun."

Geet, "Sounds good, have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't do"

Geeta, "Come on, mamma, of course I will be doing stuff that you wouldn't do. I am young, I will always do stuff you wouldn't do, you are in your 30s, I haven't reached my 20s yet.

Geet, "Okay babba, do what ever you want, just be careful okay."

Geeta, "I promise that I will keep my safety as a top priority, I think I should get going, it seems that Radha has finished appreciating the museum of gloom."

Geet, "Bye, take care."

The call was done, and Geet was left pondering Geeta words. She keep on hearing, "sad, dark, gloomy.' Her heart cried for the person who had decorated it, she knew what pain he had been through, she decided to call him, she had to tell him that his daughter was not impressed. She could hear him already, 'What she didn't like something that I did, but everyone loves MSK's work, be it building, designing or decorating.' She decided to tease him a little, today. She was going through the torture of Geeta being so far away, now it was the turn of his big ego to be a little tortured. Once again the phone rang right as she was to dial.

Maan, "Hi, before you start yelling, I just want to let you know that the girls have reached their apartment safely."

Geet, "I know, Geeta just called to let me know she had reached safely."

Maan, "Good, good. Did she like the apartment?" he sounded eager to find out. After all he had made sure it was only the best for his daughter.

Geet, "Arrrr, I don't know how to tell you this, but..."she was trying to smother a small laugh.

Maan, "But, what? Does she need anything, was something missing?"

Geet, "No, she has everything she needs, it was the decor she wasn't impressed with."

Maan, "Are you joking? Every single person who has lived these has been impressed, heads of companies haven't had problems, what problems could a 19 year old have with the decor?"

Geet, "Well she said that it was really nice and chic. It wasn't that she wasn't impressed she just thinks that it is too gloomy."

Maan, "Gloomy, really gloom!, she doesn't know what gloomy is, she should go visit some of the slums while she is here, she will find out what gloomy really is."

Geet could hear his temper rising, she decided to put an end to the horrible torture she was levying on him.

Geet, "Maan, that is not how she meant it, she said that she felt that whoever decorated it seemed to be sad and in a lot of pain, she seemed to understand you even without meeting you, by just standing in the apartment you created. Please don't feel like she doesn't appreciate that she has in her life. Our daughter is a good kid, she never takes anything for granted. Please calm down and let go of the anger."

Maan, "She understands me?"

Geet, "Yes, she understands you, that is how intuitive she is. Now if you don't mind, I told her I would talk to the landlord and ask him if she could re-decorate the place, so that she can make it her home."

Maan, "Ofcourse, she can do whatever she wants with the place, after all it is in her name. Anyways, why don't you tell her that she can make a list of all the things she wants changed and that someone will come to do the work."

Geet, "What the apartment is in her name? When, why?

Maan, "I built the building around her 6th birthday and thought it would be nice to put an apartment in her name, in case she ever wanted to live here. I was just a lofty wish, but today it came true. I am so happy. Plus whatever is mine, is hers."

Geet, "You always thought of us" she was choking, she had tears in her eyes.

Maan, "Always thought, am thinking and always will think about the two of you. You are my life, you don't forget to live life, do you?"

Geet, "I have to go now, have some stuff to take care off."

Maan, "Bye, talk to you soon."

Geet had to end the call, she was starting to feel guilty for the first time, she had never felt guilt, she had felt sad, sad that she had taken the step that would separate the two of them, but today she felt guilty, guilty for keeping Maan away from Geeta. He was a wonderful father and Geeta would have really benefited from having him in her life and she Geet had denied her daughter a father. She was almost on the brink of inviting Maan openly into their lives, but she had to think rationally and do what was best for Geeta and that is why she ended the call before she let her emotions take over.

_______________________________________________________________

In Delhi, Radha had plans for them to visit old Delhi, she kept on telling Geeta about all the cool sites in old Delhi and finally Geeta just asked her to lead the way and that she would follow. They had had a nice tiring day visiting Red Fort, Fatehpuri Mosque and were finally in Chandni Chowk. One of India's oldest and famous markets. They had looked around in the shops and had even been tempted to try food from the street carts, but had resisted remembering Geet's warnings about sickness.

Finally they were ready to go home when Radha mentioned that they should pick up some sweets from Ghantewala Halwai, she had told Geeta that oldest sweet shops in India and that any trip to Chandni Chowk would be considered incomplete without visiting this sweet shop. She told Radha that it would be a nice gesture if they bought some sweets for Pinky Masi to say thank you for picking them up from the airport and feeding them. Geeta agreed as she had a feeling that they were probably going to be eating at Pinky Masi's house everyday and buying some sweets would just be nice.

As they entered the shop they heard someone yell, "Ms. Hoshiarpur, oye Ms. Hoshiarpur, is that really you?"

Geeta and Radha turned in the direction of the voice when they saw a beautiful middle aged woman coming in their direction. She looked to be in her early 40s. They wondered who she was yelling at. She stopped in front of them and after taking a look at them said, "Oh! I am sorry, I thought you were someone else. This behenji, I I knew a long time ago." she smiled, "actually she wasn't a behenji at all, I just called her that, I was young and foolish, I was hoping it was her here today, I wanted to apologise. Sorry for disturbing you, but you look just like her, just a lot younger." she flashed a kind smile and left.

Geeta, "Oh, that was weird. Lets just get what we are here for and get home."

What Geeta didn't know then was that the lady who had been talking to her was Sasha, someone who had known her mother while she had lived in Delhi, in fact she had worked with her mother. A lot had changed in the last 19 years for Sasha too, she was no longer the bitter young woman who was in love with Maan Singh Khurana, today she was happily married and had two wonderful children.

After Geet had left Sasha had been under the impression that she could get MSK since Geet was no longer in the picture. But she was wrong, even after months of trying to get into the good graces of Maan, she had failed. It had seemed that he had eyes for no one other than Geet and once she had left he seemed to have
gone blind to all the beauties of the world. No she didn't mean girls, she meant all things created to bring joy, MSK had lost the ability to feel joy and that is when Sasha had realized what love truly was. She had decided then that she would apologise to Geet if she ever saw her. She had feared that it was because of her that Geet had left and she had tried for months to find her, but she had been unsuccessful.

As Sasha tried to fall asleep she went through the events of the day, it had been a usual day at the office. She had once again designed a beautiful building. At home things were great. Abhi loved her just as much as she loved him and her children were growing up fast. She recalled how today in a very long time she had felt a ray of hope concerning MSK, but she had been wrong, it was just a young lady who looked like Geet. She felt a little depressed, she reminded herself that it was just her bad luck after all they did say that there were 7 copies of everyone on the face of this earth. Yet she couldn't erase the face of the girl she had seen today.

Wonderful! A lot of things to unfold in the near future I see. I'm waiting for Sasha to tell Maan that she saw someone like Geet. I only wonder how will he control himself from meeting his life while she lives in the same city? I think the apartment's name should be Maaneet and Maneet.

BTW, I am awed at the depth of love you show between Maan and Geet. I just love it! 👏
