my personal experience tells me that, as long as u dont meet the person
in like ages, no matter how much u love the person, it is easier to stay
that way. but after a long time when you meet them, even then all is
wonderful. but the tough time is when you have to leave the person and
go back, not knowing when u wud meet again...!!! even maan and geet
might go thru the same phase... but lets see how u've planned this and
how they would handle the situation..... 😛

i'm looking waiting for the next update....!!!!!!!! *knock knock** did u

Thanks for the many many many sweet words.

Yes, it is hard to be separated from your love again, but in order for the story to move forward they have to be. I decided not to write their separation since it would only mean tears for all my readers (except you since you are so not emotional) 😃 Maybe I will visit it in the future in their thoughts or something, but I don't know.

And you don't have to wait long for the next update. I decided to update early today by 4 full hours.

I know I don't have to tell you this but I am going to- keep reading and commenting.

Part 14

Approximately 3 months had passed since Geeta had been had Harvard, she had settled in well, had managed to make friends and was feeling positive about her future. She was no longer stressed out about living away from Geet.

Her roommate had turned out to be an interesting person. She was an enigma, she was white and had the most striking eyes, which seemed to change color. She had multiple piercings and tattoos. Her style was totally different, you couldn't box her in any category.

On her first day at Harvard Geeta had heard her speak to someone on the phone in what she could best make out to be German,"Opa, wie geht es? (grandpa, how are you?) Geet was able to make out some of the words and on hearing her fluency had determined that she was German. However the next day she was totally taken by surprise when she heard her roommate say,"Aree yea bhi koi baat hui? Mom, please Mira ko kehna ki mere koi cheej na chuye, varna jab me chuttiya ke liya augi to uske haath tood dungi" after a pause she had gone back into speaking German and said"das is sehr traurig" (this is really sad).

Geeta had waited for her to get off the phone,to approached her,"Hi, I am Geeta"

Her roommate had replied back in a really sweet voice,"Hi, I am Radha"

That was all that needed to be said for them to become fast friends. Geeta had found out that she was from Frankfurt, Germany and when Geeta had inquired about her knowledge of Hindi, Radha had replied, that her mom was Indian. At first sight no one could have guessed that she was desi, but they always say never judge a book by its cover.

Radha had turned out to be quite interesting, she was always hyper and seemed to fit into any environment with ease, you could have popped her anywhere and she could make herself at home within minutes. Geet was glad that she had gotten lucky having Radha as her roommate. Not everyone was so lucky. It was like having a sister, she never had. Over the last two months they had shared with each other their histories, their likes, dislikes and even some of their pains.

Midterms were done with and although the classes were tough Geeta had managed to do really well. Geeta finally was stress free and was looking forward to the weekend. She was going home in a few days for Thanksgiving break. She just thinking about her mom and her Devi Masi and Kate Masi and everyone else who would come over for thanksgiving dinner. Her mom always made a big deal about holidays, she went all out with the decorations and food. Geeta had missed her mom a lot during the last few months, she was glad though that she had a great relationship with her and that they spoke everyday. That surely did help with the distance.

Radha entered the room bringing Geeta out of her thoughts. She was like a tornado ready to destroy everything in its path. She sounded so excited."Geeta, you wont believe it, guess where I am going this summer, in fact guess where I am going for 6 months?, I know you wont be able to guess" saying this she plonked herself on the bed next to Geeta.

"What's going on?, where are you going?, you know me I wont be able to guess, so just tell me" Geeta pouted.

Not one to prolong torture, Radha said,"I am going to India, I am going for 6 months. Just found out from my adviser that next Fall I can study at The School of Planning and Architecture in Delhi, if I want."

Geet, "That sounds nice, I see you already decided that you are going, but did you research the program, and do you even know anyone there? What are your folks going to say, are you sure they will let you go?"

Radha, "No, I haven't researched the program, but really how bad can it be, plus its only a semester, even if I don't learn anything at least I will experience something new." after a tiny pause "I think I have some family in India, but I am not sure exactly where in India. As for my folks, my mom may be apprehensive but my dad will convince her. You know when he was 17 he went to Africa for a year to live with the Maasai. So I don't think he should have a problem. Plus if he does, then I will just go to my Opa and Oma (Dadaji and Dadima). That's why you have grandparents right."

Geeta, "Well it seems you have everything figured out, I should have known better. Well then tell me more."

"Well classes start a little earlier than here, so I won't really have a summer break. But that's okay I think a month is enough to stay in Germany and deal with my stupid siblings. I will take a look at the program during Thanksgiving break since I have no where to go. Other than that nothing much to say for now" Radha said making a face.

"Aww, I am going to miss you. What will I do without you next year?" Geeta said and then remembering what Radha had just told her, she continued "You have no where to go for Thanksgiving? Why don't you come with me? I am sure my mom wont mind, in fact she likes having people over."

"Okay, are you sure about your mom not minding?" Radha asked.

"Yeah, I know my mom really well, we don't hide anything from each other." Geeta said and then remembered the that weird conversation with her mom all those months ago, when she had just started at Harvard, "actually Radha there is something that has been bothering me, you know my mom lied to me a few months ago."

"Really, what was the lie about?" Radha asked.

"Well, you know when I first got to Harvard, I think it was my third day here my mom gave me a wake up call, when I was talking to her, I heard a voice in the background. It was really early so it couldn't have been any of my mom's friends. It was a man's voice. I have never seen my mom even talk to a man before and I am sure there was one in the apartment that day. When I asked her, she said it was the TV and got off the phone really quickly. You know I only heard a few words but the voice seemed so familiar. I just don't know why it was so familiar." Geeta told Radha

Radha, "So what's the big deal, just ask you mom to tell you the truth."

Geeta shaking her head,"No, she won't tell me the truth. If she wanted me to know, she would have never lied to me in the first place. I guess I'll just have to find out another way, maybe you can help me. You are more adventurous than I"

Radha, "Okay, let's look into it over the weekend when we are at your place, maybe we will find some clues around your home." "Oh, one more thing, Geeta why don't you come with me to India, since you major too is architecture your adviser would probably recommend you for study abroad too. It will be exciting." Radha added.

"It sounds exciting, but I don't know anyone in India plus I don't think my mom would ever let me go." Geeta sadly replied.

"Isn't your mom from Delhi, she must have family there, if she is worried, I guess she can ask them to keep an eye on you while you are there, plus I am sure you mentioned that you were born there, so it will give you a chance to visit your birthland." Radha giggled.

"You are right, I guess I am coming to India with you. I have to go to class now, we will discuss this later."Geeta informed Radha while getting her stuff ready for class.

"Okay, sure" Radha replied now busy looking at the study abroad form.

Walking to class, Geeta re-ran the entire conversation she had with Radha,"we can look in your home, maybe some clues, come to India, your mom is from Delhi, family in India, born in India" those phrases kept on running through her head. She hadn't really thought about about India. She didn't even know if she had family in India, but she must have, right?, after all her mom was from there. Her mom had always told her that she was from Delhi, that was fabulous, her mom couldn't really oppose her going to Delhi to study. She guessed she was probably born in Delhi too, she would ask her mom, it would be nice to visit the hospital where she- Geeta, the awesome came into this world. Thinking this Geeta smiled. She couldn't wait to get home from Thanksgiving now and with Radha there, it was going to be one to remember. She called her mom quickly and left a message letting her know that she was bring a friend over for Thanksgiving.

In New York, after a long day of work, Geet noticed her cellphone message light blinking. She noticed she had missed a call from Geeta, she got worried, crazy thougts started to run through her head, what if it was an emergency, she calmed her self down and decided to hear the message first. She dialed 1 and waited for the message, a smiled formed on her face as she heard it. Geeta was bringing a friend over for Thanksgiving. Oh! the more the merrier. Geet had already ordered all the groceries from Fresh Direct to be delivered on Wednesday, so all she had to do was cook. She loved to cook, she loved having her family around her. And above all she was excited that Geeta was coming home.

Wednesday quickly arrived, Geeta and Radha got on the Acela Express from Boston's South Station to get to New York. It seemed that the entire train had been taken over by college students going home for Thanksgiving break.

They found their seats and settled in, as the trained left the station Geeta looked at her friend. it seemed that Radha was on a mission, she seemed to be writing something. Geeta wanted to see what she was writing cause she seemed to be really concentrating on the words being penned. Finally not being able to control herself, she grabbed the notepad from Radha and took a look. She was shocked to see what was written. It seemed to be a list

Things about Geeta we know.
1. Last name Khurana
2. Born in India
3. Mom from Delhi
4. No dad
5. Mystery man
6. Text messages from mom to someone in India
7. Mother an architect
8. Mother is really young, only 37

"What is this?" Geeta questioned.

"Well it is a list of everything you have told me about yourself. I just wanted to be prepared for this weekend. I thought we were going to find clues about Mystery Man."Radha looked at her as if it were totally normal to make lists.

Geeta smiled at Radha, she was so straight forward and so organized. She had a habit of making lists for everything. Had anyone ever seen an organized hippie? Geeta had, Radha was an enigma, she truly was.

Radha, "Hey, Geeta I need you to sign this, she put a form in front of Geeta" seeing Geeta's questioning expression she said "Its the study abroad form I got you one too, you need to get it signed by your mom too for financial aid, but I want you to sign it now so that you can't back out of it. My philosophy is once you sign something its binding." she smiled.

Geeta signed the form and promised herself that she was going to India with Radha for the fall semester, she was going on an adventure and wasn't going to back out. She saw Radha put the form in a folder and away into her bag.

Having each other for company they didn't realize where the time passed, the had arrived at Penn Station. They decided to just take a taxi to Geeta's home.

Geet had been waiting for Geeta and her friend to arrive. As soon as she heard the keys she approached the door and stuck to Geeta as soon as she was in. She kissed her and held her tight. She didn't want to let her baby go, however then she noticed this really tall white girl standing there.

She remembered that Geeta was bringing home a friend. She walked to the girl and in a kind voice said,"Hi! I am Geeta's mom, Geet." She expected the girl to introduce herself and say her name was something like, Nichole or Ashley. But she was in for a surprise when she heard, "Wahh, Wahh, donoe ke naam, ka ek hi matlab. Hi, I am Radha"

Geeta saw the look on her mothers face and started to laugh so hard that she was soon on the floor holding her stomach. She was struggling to tell her mom that the same thing had happened to her the first time she had heard Radha speak in Hindi too, but her words made no sense all you heard was half syllables.

Geet was happy to be with her daughter once again and was relieved to see that Geeta had made a good friend. Geet made dinner while Geeta settled Radha into the guestroom.

Once they freshened up they had dinner with Geet and the three of them talked into the late hours of the night about all things Harvard. Classes, food, students, professors. Radha also talked about her family. Geet wanted to hear it all.

At around 12am, they finally went to bed.

My dear greedy readers in Maneetland,

I am back, in less pain and once more ready to torture you people. I wonder how many of you will guess what the spoiler means. A bunch were successful in deciphering the spoiler at the end of Part 12. 👏

Also you may hve noticed that I haven't written anything about Maan going back to India, I really didn't want to portray the sadness of them separating again. I may visit that scene in another part if it calls for it. But for now I think that I have made you all cry enough, so sit back and relax, no tears for this part.

Well, also shame! shame! all you people. I have noticed that some of you have gotten lazy in your comment writing. Once again just want to remind all of you that I actually take your suggestions. And change my track according to what you all demand while still keeping my FF true to what I visioned for it. Also I am not sure if you all know but I reply to all the comments and answer anything that you may have brought up in regards to the FF. So don't forget to read the comments too. I do this before I post a new update.

So, if you don't share your opinions with me I will come after you all with a danda. I will spare the good kids and all you naughty ones will pay. 😉

I hope you all enjoy this update. It is long as some of you wanted a long part. Although I want to ask, what exactly have my other parts been, if not long? 😊

Also don't forget to tell your friends about this FF. Tell them to give it a chance, they maybe scared to continue after noticing that Maneet are not together.

first thing, can u please change the color for radha's dialogues, the color is really light and i had to squint my eyes to read it for most of the times, darker colors preferred please....!!!!!!!

now, hmmmmmm another interesting update...!!!!! 👏.... so geeta all set to find out, the mysterious man... very very interesting..!!!!! haaaaaaa, cant wait till she knows it is maan singh khurana, her dad...!!!!!!! 😃

Sorry, didn't realize that the orange was too light. Thanks for letting me know, I changed it and now I know not to use it in future posts.

Yeah! Geeta is all set to go, seems that Radha is giving her a nice hard push. Radha's parents seem to be really liberal so I guess she doesn't think about how other people's parents would react to finding out that their kid wants to go across the oceans to a different part of the world. In our case Geet's reaction to Geeta going to India.

The list was made up by Radha, not Geet. But this is taking place in the 2020s so I am sure that Geet too thinks that her mom is young enough to be in a new relationship at this time in her life.

Great update as usual .. i did miss maan's absence but understand that there is more to the story then the 2 main protagonists ...

I am sure I always comment so please don't include me in any punishment you are thinking of handing out .

How nice would it be gor Geeta to go back to India and some how connect with some aspects of her identity include a certain you know who!!

Maan and Geet are the focus, but we can't forget Geeta. She is the main character who is going to push the story forward.

Lets see if Geeta gets to India and what happens.
