YOU'RE STILL THE ONE
Part 15
Nikki and Tia headed towards Sid's cabin. Nikki saw Sid get up from his chair as soon as he saw them enter his cabin. He did not move, just kept on starring at them, standing there like a statue! Nikki, moved closer to him and snapped her fingers in front of his face,
'Hey Sid, where are you?' she said, mocking at his reaction.
Sid suddenly realized that he was staring at the same beautiful girl whom he had seen earlier. Reluctantly he dragged his eyes away from her and looked at Nikki.
He had been right! Nikki had gone behind Dr. Modi to find out who he was meeting! And she had come back with the answer herself! Nikki pulled him by his hand and brought him around the table to where Tia was standing and introduced the two of them.
'Sid, meet Tia Modi! She is Dr. Modi's sister. She is joining Sanjeevani from Monday. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce her to the gang. They would all be at the cafeteria now.'
Sid was shocked! Us Sadu doctor ki sister! So beautiful! Can't be! He thought!
Tia .... had noticed the way he was staring at her! She had found it very funny! She was the first one to respond,
'Hi Sid!' she said, then added with a saucy smile, 'Are u like, checking me out?'
Sid and Nikki both were now gaping at her with their mouth open. They were shocked and taken aback by her frankness!
'What?' Sid said a little loudly, 'Who do you think you are, Queen of Sheeba?'
'Well, that is what I felt like, when I saw how you were looking at me' she continued with a twinkle in her eyes, teasing him, 'Anyways, thanks for the compliment!'
'Oh, whatever!' Sid said, getting irritated and turning to Nikki, deciding to ignore Tia!
'Nikki! Where did you disappear! You know I have been waiting here for you for so long! We need to finish our report, you know that, na?' he said irritatedly.
Tia did not like the way Sid was talking to Nikki! As if he had an authority over her! Even before she could stop herself, she retorted,
'Oh Dr. Nikita, why did u leave him all by himself for as long? Poor soul, he was so lost without you!'
'Oh, shut up!' Sid was now very irritated with Tia. He was glaring at her. But Tia was not at all affected by him. She was staring back at him unflinchingly ready to take up a fight with him.
'Guys .... guys .... time out .....' Nikki interrupted them. 'Tia ..... meet Siddhant Shah! Don't go by his looks or what he says! He ... is .... really very smart!' she added with a smile, 'he is here for a short stint, evaluating our proposal on New Sanjeevani Project. Our fate is in his hands now! He is going to decide if we are going to get the financial backing for the project or not! ' she said with a mocking smile.
'Oh really !' Tia said, as she rolled her words and eyes just like her brother. 'Well! I am impressed!' she said with a bit of sarcasm, looking at Sid.
'What's your problem!' Sid asked, moving threatening towards Tia.
Nikki was a bit surprised, because she had never seen Sid ever getting so irritated. He was a pretty cool guy, who hardly got angry at anything.
'My problem? Why nothing! I was just saying that I am impressed by you!' Tia continued teasing him. 'Why? Don't you like being complimented?'
' NO!' he made a face and turned away from her and went and sat down at his table.
'Sid, chalo na, lets got to the cafeteria! It is coffee break now! The gang will be there. I am taking Tia there.' Nikki said pleadingly looking at Sid.
'No, you go ahead! I already had my coffee while I was waiting for you. Maybe l will get this stuff done and leave for the day!' he said with a bit of irritation in his voice.
'Please, Sid, chalo na!' Nikki pleaded. Tia was observing both of them. She was wondering what was going on between Nikki and Sid.
'Nahi Nikki. You guys go! I am not in the mood!' he said, this time give a sour look to Tia.
'Ok! Then, I will give you a call later tonite, fine?' she said trying to soothe his ruffled feathers.
'Hummmmmm' he said absent-mindedly.
'Sid? Did you hear me? I said I will call you later!' Nikki exclaimed. 'If you want we can finish our discussion over the phone or you can come over to my place and we can get it done there.'
Tia did not like this at all! Why was Nikki inviting him over to her place? Did Bhai know about what was going on between the two of them?
'Haan, okay! You do that. Call me after you reach home.' He said, turning to his files now, as Nikki and Tia went towards the cafeteria.
Abhi had finished his meeting and smsed Nikki telling her that he was ready to leave if Tia was ready!
After about 10 minutes he was with Tia in his car heading home.
'So Tiu, how did it go? Did you have fun? Whom all did you meet?' he asked a bit worriedly.
He was very surprised to find Tia a bit quiet and pre-occupied. Usually she would give all the information without any provocation. It was very rare to find Tia in a contemplative mood. She would generally blabber out whatever was worrying her. But now they had been in the car for atleast 10 minutes and she had not spoken a word. Abhi was really getting worried!
'Oh, I met all Dr. Nikita's friends. They seemed to be quiet nice. Except .....' she said and then added, '..... Sid' as she turned towards Abhi to see his reaction. Immediately she saw, a muscle in his jaw tighten and his hands clenched at the steering wheel.
'I found him a bit irritating,' she said. 'He was kind of acting bossy over Dr. Nikita. He was irritated at her because he had been waiting for her when she had come to see you in the afternoon.' Thinking aloud now, she continued, 'but I was more surprised when Dr. Nikita was cool about it. And she also invited him over later today to her house to finish off their work.'
Both of them were quiet for rest of the time till they reached home. Then Tia was taken by surprise when Abhi on reaching home, told her that he will be out for another couple of hours since he wanted to go to the gym. Tia understood immedaitely that he wanted to be by himself, since he was upset by what she had told him. She kept on staring at the back of his car as he reversed and roared away in his car in anger, wondering if she had been right in mentioning about Sid to him!
Abhi was very frustrated! For last one hour he had been in the gym, try to work out his anger. He had been exercising each and every muscle of his body, till he could not move even a single inch! He was covered with seat from head to toe and had no more energy even to stand! He was completely fatigued out and sat down on the work bench with a thump! He kept on sitting there ... staring into nothing .... for how long, he was not sure! His brain refused to stop .... to stop thinking about what Tia had told him! He just could not distract himself from thinking about Nikki and Sid!
Suddenly he got up, with a determined look on his face, took his shirt out of his bag, wore it over his red vest and without even buttoning it up walked out of the gym.
He found himself ringing the door bell of Nikki's house! As he was standing outside her house, waiting for her to open the door, he heard Goofy barking! At the same time he heard Nikki calling out to Goofy to calm down .... and that she was just coming!
And just then she opened the door! She was dressed in shorts and purple tank top, her feet bare! Her hands were covered in flour! It looked as if she had been busy, trying to cook something!
She was shocked to find Abhi standing there, at her door, in his gym clothes. He was wearing his black track pants, red vest and white shirt. Seemed like he had been in a hurry and decided to wear his white shirt at the last moment, since it was not even buttoned up! He was looking unbelievable handsome! She was palpitating just looking at him!
They both were lost in each other's eyes, unable to look away. Only when Goofy started barking once again, they realized they were still standing at the door.
'Abhi ..... you here?' she said looking embraced. She could not believe that he was standing there in front of her.
'Hummmmmmm, can I come in?' he asked, still unable to look away from her huge eyes. They were mesmerizing! Everytime he looked at them, he just forgot about everything.
Nikki stepped back, letting him in.
'Ya, sure! Just give me few minutes. I will finish this,' she said looking at her dirty hands, 'I was trying to make something!' she said a bit embraced. She had decided today, that it was high time that she started learning to cook! This was at her 10th failed attempt to make a proper dough for her parathas!
She walked into the kitchen, and was surprised to find Abhi follow her there!
Abhi was shocked at what he saw there! The kitchen was in a complete mess! Looked as if a tornado had hit her kitchen!
'Nikki, what happened? Did you and Goofy have a boxing match here or something?' he said, trying to hide a smile!
'Oh, shut up, Abhi! Just go and sit outside! I will be there in a few minutes' saying that she pushed her hair out of her way, making a streak of dough on her forehead, going back to preparing her dough!
She had to be the cutest person on the earth! Looking at her dough swimming in water, he asked now laughing openly at her,
'Nikki, kya bana rahi ho? Are you trying to bake something?'
'Very smart! For your kind info, I am making dough for the parathas' she said innocently, still believing that she was going to be successful this time in getting her dough right.
Abhi's eyes, were glued to her! She was looking so beautiful and innocent! He forgot all about why he was here! He slowly moved towards her and stopped right behind her! Very close to her! Her back was now pressed against his chest! He could feel her stiffen! Slowly he put his hands around her and into the semi-solid dough along with hers, and interlocked his fingers with hers! His chin was now resting on her head! She fit so perfectly to him, he thought to himself, sighing contentedly!
'Nikki ..... ' he whispered, but he could not go on any further! He was completely lost. He could smell the sweet fragrance of flowers coming from her hair. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. He could feel Nikki a shiver pass through Nikki, and her body relaxed a bit, bringing her more close to him. His fingers tightened even more, making her feel as if he will never let them go. Nikki could feel his breath on her neck as he lowered his face. A smile escaped her lips as his stubble tickled her.
'Abhi ....please.... ' she whispered, lifting her shoulders, squirming, trying to avoid getting tickled and slowly turning her head to one side.
'Ummmm ...' he mumbled, his eyes closed. He was in his own world, where it was just him and her!
Then suddenly Nikki felt Abhi's lips on her ear! Kissing her ..... interspersed with really tiny bites on her ear lobe ...... and she gasped! She nearly had a heart attack! Her heartbeat skyrocket thru the roof! She just lost all her control! Her legs became like jelly and she would have just collapsed on the floor, but for him holding her tightly against him!
They both were so lost in each other not knowing where one ended and the other began. All they could do was feel - feel for each other, feel the emotions they were bringing out in each other.
Slowly Abhi, moved his head to plant kisses down her neck. He was unable to stop himself anymore! He just did not want to let her go! He wasn't sure for how long he had been kissing her like this holding her so closely .... when .....
Goofy started to bark.... he was jumping up and down excited by their legs and barking ... he had been ignored for too long ..... and anyways he did not trust Abhi .... Abhi surely was up to something .... and Goofy was not much away from truth!
Abhi had a tough time stopping himself .... but the little devil just wouldn't stop .... it was impossible to ignore him ! So cursing Goofy under his breath, and swearing that he was either going to kill him one of these days or loose him when he took him for a walk, Abhi managed to pull away from Nikki with great amount of reluctance! Slowly he released her hands and stepped back a little ..... giving her place to turn around .... not even once letting his gaze move away from her face as he told to turn around towards him.
Nikki feeling shy, lowered her eyes and looking away from him, slowly turned around. She did not know what was happening to her, but her heart was beating at a breakneck speed and she could feel the heat rise in her cheeks, for she was blushing profusely. She had no idea how beautiful she looked right now, Abhi thought, with her big eyes brightened with desire, her cheeks turned completely red, and her lips trembling slightly as she looked up once again at him.
'Nikki ..... u will never succeed in making parathas out of this dough!' Abhi said finally.
'Oh !' she exclaimed as her eyes widened with surprise. She had been so lost in his kisses that she had completely forgotten what she had been doing!
'Why? I can still do it!' she said turned once again away from him ... trying to fix the dough, not wanting to accept her defeat.
'Nikki .... please leave it .... there is way too much water in it now!' he said as he started to wash his hands. 'Come here and wash your hands! I need to talk to you about something important, so why don't we both go out in the sitting room!'
'Abhi ... why did you come here?' she asked as she washed her hand too. She picked up Goofy in her hands and walked out behind Abhi.
'Are you expecting someone!' he asked suddenly, just out of the blue.
'No!' she replied not understanding him, 'but why?'
'Then for whom were you cooking?' he asked, his voice laced with a bit of jealously.
'Ofcourse for myself and Goofy! We need to eat something!' she replied instantaneously.
'Oh, then why go to so much of effort! I thought you hated to cook!' he asked.
'Abhi, you came all this way to question me about this? Here I am trying to learn to cook! And you are ..... ' she exclaimed irritatedly.
'Are you trying to learn cooking? But why? For whom?' Abhi asked curiously .... hoping to hear her say that it was for him!
'Abhi ......!' Nikki was angry now, 'Will you stop cross questioning me and come to the point!'
'Will you have dinner with me tonight!' Where did that come from? He shocked himself by asking her this! He had no intention of asking her out for dinner when he had barged into her home! He did not even know what he had been intending to do when he had walked in here! But now that he thought about it, this was the best way to keep her away from Mr. Siddhant! Anyway, she had not cooked her dinner yet and she had to eat something!
'Why?' she asked, completely taken by surprise.
'Why what, Nikki?'
'Why do you want me to out for dinner with you?'
'Nikki!!!' he shouted exasperatedly. Once again Goofy started to bark at him as soon as he heard him raise his voice. Abhi moved his hands threateningly at him trying to grab him by his neck, as if to strangle him!
'Abhi!' Nikki exclaimed 'how can you do that?' she said in a hurt voice. Abhi seeing the hurt look in her eyes, decided to back down. Giving a nasty look to Goofy, continued in a softer tone!
'Nikki, it is a simple question! And there is a simple answer to it! Just say Yes!'
'Okay!' she replied.
'Okay?' Abhi could not believe that she said yes so easily. Nikki and agree with him! Without making his life difficult, that was impossible!
'Haan!' she said.
'Fine, then lets go!' he said getting up, before she could change her mind.
'Like this, Abhi? I can't! I need to clean up and change!' she exclaimed.
'No no no! There is no time for that! You are just perfect the way you are, no need to change! Come on!' he said pulling her hand now.
'Goofy?' she asked, still confused why he was in such a great hurry.
'Let's take him too!'
By now he was pulling her towards the main door, Goofy in her hands ....
'Abhi, wait let me atleast wear my shoes and get the keys!' she exclaimed, completely dazed at the way he was behaving!
'Theek hai, 2 minutes, I am waiting for you in the car!' saying that he walked to his car.
Nikki grabbed her cell, her keys, her purse and Goofy and rushed behind him!
Just as she was sitting down in the car, she heard him say into his mobile phone,
'Ma, I will be home in 15 minutes! And I am bringing someone home for dinner!'
Nikki gasped. She had not expected him to take her to his house! She can not meet his mom like this!
'Abhi .....!' she screamed. And she heard his mom do the same ....
'Bye, Ma! You are delaying me! I will be home in a soon' saying that he just cut the phone, without even letting his mom finish what she was saying, as Nikki could still hear her saying something to him when he cut his phone!
'Dr. Abhimanyu Modi!' she was now staring angrily to him, 'you are so dead! If you think I am going to come to meet your mother, looking like this, you are so so wrong! I am not coming!' she tried to open the door and get out of the car.
But Abhi just used the central lock from his side, and grabbed her hand in his and pulled her towards him.
'Relax, Nikki! You are looking just fine! You do not need to put up a show to meet my family! They will love you the way you are! So relax and just be yourself!' he told her sincerely. 'Anyways, you have the person who matters the most under your magic spell!' saying that he caressed her face with his hand and planted a quick kiss on her lips, taking away her breathe once again.
And before she could recover and say anything further, he was driving the away from her home!
