Chapter 1
Dear Diary, 20/06/10 - Fathers Day
You are the only one, I can share my deep secrets with - my deepest and darkest secrets - and my deepest and darkest secrets are unfortunately so deep and dark that without any torch or a glimpse of light, I won't be able to show them to you...
But I have a desire in my heart, to visit - Ajmer. Living in Maharashtra and Pali Hill is no less than a dream but I have always been fond of living with a family which belonged from Ajmer. I wanted to see Ajmer, the fort of Prithviraj Chauhan and feel the hot wind on my skin...
In Pali Hill, I can see tall buildings across my balcony window, but no true sign of nature and a simple living life. I am bored of my life, I have completed graduation and soon, I will be joining and becoming a part of Dad's snooty company...
But before that, I want to experience simplicity and purity of the hot sand and nature and I know that in the entire world, I have always dreamt of seeing Ajmer. Dad always promised me when I was little that someday, we will visit Ajmer but that 'someday' never came...
Even though it's Father's Day, I always wish my Dad with no sign of pleasure and deep love because that deep love ended with the death of my mother. Dad changed after that, he got married and his new wife is already carrying two damn twins. She is too haughty and sensitive about them..
And now, Dad is so damn serious about the decisions of my life that he forbids me to go out drinking but I never listen because I am the boss of me - but then his emotional blackmail starts and I have to give up my red wine and beer...
Just how much can I take? Not even one month left now till I join Dad and his conceited business partners and I have not been able to escape from my tortured life. Oh! And already my fiftieth girlfriend of the month is ringing me on my mobile but tough luck for her that I got umpteenth number of mobile phones and Sims..
And look who just walked in, my very own snobbish 24 hour lecture giving brother, Jai. He'll be damned if he finds out that I wrote this about him but I have my own plans to where I can keep you safe away from his revolting and cheating hands...
Well, his usual lecture has already begun that I am good for nothing and how I will manage in the business but I know that Jai doesn't want me to join. He wants to deal the company with his way of ruthless and cheating ways and he knows that if I walk in, I'll set things my way because I am the most pampered one in my family...
That is one of the reasons why I am so much spoilt and that I can do anything I like from 6 in the morning to 12. Even the pantry workers in the mansion want to date me, but right now I am too tired of my very own hectic life and if one place I wanted to go was Ajmer - don't know why but this inspiration was pulling me towards it and I knew I'd be going in a matter of few hours - with you..
- Veer (The residential and owner of this Diary)
Locking my diary, meekly, I eyed at Jai who stood in the doorway. He had a deep curiosity in his eyes and suspicion brightly glowering from his face. Ignoring, his sight, I indicated him to leave with my hand but that didn't seem to work - instead it winded him up..
"No Veer! I am telling you for the umpteenth time to hand me the research file, I gave you yesterday!" he cried making fists of his hands. Grinning with evil mischievousness, I walked up to the cupboard and carried the stack of files towards him.
Dropping it by his feet, he gaped at me confusingly and finally I spoke giving him direct and strict instructions. "Search it, in this stack. It's got to be one of them..and if it isn't then probably I lost it.."
I shrugged after the phrase "lost it" which I had purposely made audible and expressive, I shut the door on his half surprised and half angry face. After that, I didn't know what had happened but I had heard a large bang from downstairs and cries of someone familiar.
Exhaling out tiredly and heavily, I sat down and knew it must be one of the pantry workers but usually I would hear Ruby, my step mother, screaming with deliberate expressions to wind up Dad to either fire one of the workers or calm her and sooth her with his smooches..
I would rather not interrupt them because I know, Ruby will start crying and making emotional blackmail comments. And Dad, he would just restrict me another day with his emotional blackmails to not step outside the entrance or his and mine relationship would be on the rocks..
Relieving myself from the sudden voices as if someone was leaving, I heard one of the pantry girl come carrying my evening snacks. It was laid out like always with a toast jammed and a mug full of iced coffee. Just how I liked it...
"Sir, Madam Ruby had to be rushed to the hospital, your father and brother have accompanied her.." she said trembling as if she had been yelled at earlier when I was writing my diary. But I felt a little guilty for feeling so terrible about her but this was an opportunity which shouldn't be lost..
Neglecting my evening snacks, I jumped up and began stacking clothes inside my small rucksack. The maid scanned me with confused and mysterious eyes but I simply avoided her. She would sooner or later realise her stupidity of not stopping me and reminding me of Dad's emotional blackmail quotes..
When I had packed my rucksack, it only seemed to weigh about 1-2 kilos, enough for me to at least spend my already destroyed holidays' last remaining days in Ajmer. Picking up my diary, I squashed it inside the pack and clasped my mug and toast and left leaving the persuasive maid who was warning me to stop..

Meanwhile, while in Maharashtra a bad event had taken place, in Ajmer, there were only joys and happiness. There was laughter, celebration and the entrance of the guests.
In Ajmer, there had been a wedding in one of the richest families. The wedding of Nandini's sister, Pooja. Nandini was a fun living, lively girl whose aim in life was to be happy and keep others happy. Though she was the youngest, she was the most capable of doing physical activities.
And she had arranged the entire banquet. From decorations, to food, she had made the whole house dress like a beautiful doll and her parents who stood beside the entrance doors greeted the guests as they walked down the aisle which was covered with flowers and rose petals falling on them from each end.
While Nandini was hovering from one place to another, settling the guests and keeping them calm as Pooja had taken a while to get ready, she exhaled a tired sigh and placed the heavy urn of holy water on the stands along with round sweets and some flat ones.
As she noticed, a small boy reach out for the round sweet, she gently tapped his hand and offered him herself to preserve him for ruining her decorations. He took the sweet gratefully and waved her a thanking goodbye as a woman dragged him away.
Smiling to herself, she did not notice someone tap her shoulder. Looking in the direction of the boy, she remembered her young childhood days while someone viciously caught hold of her arm. Awaking, she slowly turned round to face a tall boy just a little taller than her, dressed in custom clothings.
"Hi.." he smiled revealing his shiny teeth. Disgusted by his looks, Nandini tried to seem as polite as possible and smiled back slowly.
"Hi," she replied tugging at her arm. "I will just go and settle the guests.."
"But I need some settling too na?" he asked. "I would also be a little surprised, if you told me my name because if my name is pronounced from your holy tongue -"
"I have no holy tongue and the holy tongue of God shall not pronounce your vindictive name.." she murmured under her breath but he had seem to caught her.
"Whatever you say - Chandni.." he said confusingly attempting to please her knowing that Chandni was not her name.
"My name's Nandini.." she glared back releasing her arm and escaping as her father approached him and engaged him in a conversation.
Tired of the rituals which had been going on, Nandini had been able to emerge to the top balcony of the entire mansion. There she stood, gaping at the stars as they cast a merry glow on her milky fair skin.
Waiting, she wished from the stars and from her god, to blossom her life with the meaning of love. With the peaceful feeling of love and for her to be loved with trueness and purity..
Sighing at the nice atmosphere, she returned back to the hectic rituals and attended every guest with pleasure showing no sign of tiredness. After all rituals had been done, she had said a tearful goodbye to her sister as she had been sent away to her husband's house.
As all the family waved, Nandini's mother approached her and whispered. "Soon, it shall be when you will be going.."
Making an angry and livid face, Nandini kicked a pile of sand and returned to her room to relieve her mind from her mother's concerns.
Smiling to herself, Nandini's mother said something to her father which made him quiet and senile. Nodding he had retired to his room along with the twenty family members who had been a part of their Pooja's wedding..

Concurrently, I had received a whole load of miss calls and some distressing messages. Some from my maids, some from Jai and some from Dad. But I was too reluctant to give up now. I had a flight to Rajasthan and I would not return until I had seen Ajmer..
But finally accepting their worry, I answered the call. There began Jai who had been more distressed than anyone.
"Veer! I have been ringing you for the past two hours! I have lost all my credit and have added it several times now!" he wailed making me sigh even more.
"Is that what you have to complain about?" I snorted disbelievingly. "I told you, I had to go - I couldn't resist, some inspiration pulled me towards it - as if someone's waiting for me.."
"Veer, you have gone bonkers! If Dad finds out, he'll be raged with fury!" warned Jai yelling and adding an expression of danger.
I couldn't stand him any more so I had just disconnected the call making him more infuriated. I had slammed the phone in my bag and had switched it off so it couldn't distress me all the way to Ajmer.
Driving for no longer than half an hour, I had arrived late at the airport. Rushing through the check in's, I sat in the first class section, the whole cabin to myself as I lay, an air hostess approached me with some chocolates and refreshments.
Meekly taking them, I planned to flirt with her but then I was too tired myself to pay attention to any air hostess who was only being kind to me as it was her profession. The next time she approached me was when the plane was in thin air, and she was handing out meals.
I chose the most refreshing and expensive one, and she presented it to me up to my satisfactory needs. Also, I ordered red wine and enjoyed the meal keeping my eyes off her. I saw her grunt from the corner of my eye as she wanted my attention.
I couldn't blame her but I knew that I wouldn't care less because I was not single. So to add more spice to her, I picked up my phone and began talking to it pretending it was my girlfriend who I was flirting with.
Gasping, she escaped to the air hostess section and outside, after the plane had landed, she gave me a small but not a pleasant greeting. I too, acted the same..
