DM's Eyes Search for his Santudi Pg70

DM's Mission to Bring Back Santu's Smile
😃
Santu is pottering around in the kitchen opening and closing the cupboard doors, she is bored from sitting and doing nothing. DM has given strict instructions to EVERYONE that all Santu is to do is eat, sleep and rest and all he wanted was to see her happy and nothing else, no running to Maa when there are problems and no stress on her head as she worries day and night for all her kids. DM put Baa on 24/7 watch to be with Santu but to shoo away when he gets back from work which was quite funny to Baa because there have been many days off and days going into work late, popping home at lunch time and the sudden arrival home early to a days end at work and smile that came to Santu's face upon hearing DM's car pull up and his voice travelling through the house upon greeting everyone and his mission was to get past everyone quick so that he can go meet Santu and see her surprised happy face. Today DM came home for lunch its 11.30am, he walks in with his briefcase and gives it to Champakali to put in his library.
Baa: Dharamraj, what are you doing home at this time, its only...... 11.30am? 😕 did you forget something, you only went to the office 3hrs ago???
DM: Jai Shri Krishna Baa.......errrr......I came home for lunch and as everything is running smoothly at the factory, I thought I'd come home and sort out other work that needs attending to. I have left Hiten to deal with the office work and Moulik is supervising the diamond polishing for the consignment due for tomorrow which is nearly complete so I don't need to be there and some responsibility for both of them since each of them will be running their own teams soon.
Baa: Bhettja, I will get you some juice.
DM: Na Baa, I'm going to freshen up, where is she?
Baa: She? Meaning Santuri fell asleep an hour ago so I left her to sleep in your room. Ja, go and meet her, she should have woken up now.
DM: Baa, if you say so.
DM leaves Baa and goes up the stairs.
Baa: Baa if you say so....Dharamraj your only reason coming home is Santudi...silly boy...Baa knows whats going round that head of yours - dufford! 😆
DM walks into the room and sees that Santu is not there 😕 he walks back out the room looking in and out the rooms as he walks through the corridors. Whilst DM makes his way down the stairs, Santu is in the kitchen who is standing on a stool cleaning the cupboards, scrubbing as hard as she can, her mind was set to clean the kitchen top to bottom as shes been bored for sometime and she needed a task to do for time to pass, no one is allowing her to lift a finger and shes not used to this treatment, her tiny bump is becoming visible but yet still small, Santu wipes the sweat off her forehead with the end of the saree and upon her doing this, DM spots her through the kitchen window working hard 😲 and drops the book in his hand and dashes into the kitchen and lifts her off the stool whilst Santu was wiping the last cupboard, Santu wondered what was happening and all of a sudden her feet touch the floor and she realises who it is 😕 she can hear the heavy breathing behind her only telling her that shes in for it big time. She turns round with the cloth in hand to find a cross DM, legs apart, hands on hips, eye brows raised and the tick of his vein sticking out on the side of his neck breathing in and out crossly 😡 The cloth still in Santu's hand, DM grabs it and throw it out the way to land across the floor. Santu realises she made a mistake and she went against what DM said to her, she was too busy in her own thoughts that she forgot DM's and all he wanted was her to have a stress free pregnancy.
Santu: Ma..Malik..meih...
DM: Chup!!!! 😡
Santu: Malik, let me explain!
DM puts out his hand in front of Santu to stop and looks dead into her eyes, Santu knows what hes thinking and wanting to say and she knew that she has made a mistake and that because she was bored and how now she has upset DM more than she realises. DM grabs her arm and takes her over to the sink and washes her hands with soap, grabs a clean towel and wipes her hands and gently takes her out of the kitchen, through the hall and out in the the Aangan to the temple. Santu just follows holding her stomach 😔 DM faces Santu, his eyes are bloodshot red and upset. Santu stares at DM trying to hold back her tears 😭 and standing looking up into DM's eyes trying to say sorry, DM holds his lips tight his face looks like its going to blow up infront of her.
DM: 😳 What am I seeing? Did I or did I not say that you are not to do any work in the house? What did the doctor say a couple of weeks ago? You were tired, weak and needed to stop and be on bed rest and you are to be looked after! Complete bed rest, she said, no work and no work means NO WORK!!!! 😡 Do I need to stay home and watch you, should I stop going into work because you don't listen to what I say? Today I came home early so that I could spend time with you and see you happy resting and that makes me happy. I come home and my 5 months pregnant wife is standing on a stool in the kitchen scrubbing it clean whilst sweating and tiring herself out that is why I hire servants, people to do these jobs, look after the house duties, your SANTU DHARAMRAJ MAHIYAVANSHI DHARAMPUR KI MALKIN and MALKIN of this house, tickcheh, I've made a decision, from today me going to the factory stops until our baby is born, I am not going to take any chances of you tiring yourself out and for any complications to happen, your no longer a village girl, its good to remember where your from but your Malkin of the village, your my wife! I know you've become stubborn and independent, now you don't need me or listen to me but I need you and I need you to do what best for you and our unborn child growing in your womb!
Santu: Malik, mujeh mufkoro, I am sorry 😭 I didn't mean to go against what you said and make you angry and upset, its the last thing I ever want and I understand that I made a mistake and that you worry for my health.
DM: PROMISE ME HERE INFRONT OF THE MANDHIR THAT YOU WILL NEVER DISOBEY ME AND GO AGAINST ME EVER AGAIN AND THAT YOU WILL TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND OUR BABY AND LEAVE ALL WORK TO EVERYONE ELSE!!!! 😳
Santu: I promise Malik, I will do only as you say.
Baa: Dharamraj! Whats wrong with you, why are you shouting at Santu and making her cry 😲
DM: Baa where were you when Santudi was in the kitchen cleaning it, I asked you to look after her.
Baa: I apologise Dharamraj but this is not the way and you know it, come Santu, come beta, Baa will look after you, it was my mistake to leave you and I won't be making that mistake again if this is what happens, chal beta, undar ow.
Baa wobbles over to Santu and takes her into her arms and Santu just silently cries 😭 into Baa's bosom, Baa hugging Santu, telling her to calm down and wiping her tears. DM just stands there watching and regretting his outburst at Santu he never wanted to upset her but he wanted her to know how much it upsets him like she is crying, he is crying inside that she won't listen and take care of herself, she is too busy taking care of the house and everyone else and he wanted Santu to relax and take it easy and that she does not need to do any of these jobs whilst in her condition, its everyones turn to look after and take care of her. Fighting back the tears, DM moves closer to Santu but Baa looks crossly 😡 at DM and takes Santu back into the house. DM just watches on and closes his eyes and rubs his neck, DM talking to himself "Santu please forgive me, I only get angry at you because I love you so much". Champa comes out to the Aangan and walks up to DM terrified he will yell at her for not doing her job and that Santu got scolded for her not doing her job properly. Champa fiddles with the end of her saree and brings up the courage to speak, finding her voice.......
Champa: Malik, please forgive me, I should have been watching out for Malkin also and I should have noticed that the kitchen needed cleaning, if you want to punish anyone please punish me 😵
DM: Listen Chamapakali, pay extra attention to the work and delegate to the other workers so that the jobs get done and Santudi doesn't feel she has to help, I know how hard you work day and night, I am grateful but if you need more help, tell me and I will arrange it but I do not want to see Santudi doing any such work again.
Champa: Ji Malik, I'll pay more attention and delegate the work properly.
DM: Go inside and get lunch on the table, I appreciate your hard work and you do take care of Santu but you know what she is like, everything will be ok, you go.
Champa: Ji Malik.
DM sits down and thinks, he should never of shouted at Santu, he knows what goes on in her head and she must have been bored so thats why she went and started cleaning and she was used to running around everyone everyday. He has to make it his mission to cheer Santu up and make her happy again and thinking why am I such a fool at times??? He thinks some more and he remembers a conversation they had a few nights ago and the incident about when Santu went fishing and Monghi fell into the water trying to catch fish and failing miserably but that made Santu laugh being one of her favourite memories and DM remembered that when he was a boy he loved to fish, gets out his mobile and makes a call. DM finishes his call and gets up and goes back into the house and up the stairs, one thing on his mind and that was Santu's smile/laugh and its his mission to bring it back no matter.
SANRAJ ROOM
Santu is laying on the bed still weeping with her face on the pillow 😭 Baa sitting next to her patting her on the back and hushing her. DM walks in and sees Santu and Baa trying to console her. Baa sees DM coming staring at him crossly, DM politely signals Baa to leave, she does and turns back around and gives him an angry look 😡 as if to say "you start, I will put you over my knee if you step out of line and if you make Santu cry again" DM shuts the door and sits on the bed next to Santu. Santu knows its him and just lays still. DM leans over wipes her cheek and helps her up into his arms and puts his head on hers and looks into her eyes.
DM: Chal mere satt (come with me)
Santu doesn't say anything just gets up and follows him out the room and down the stairs.
DM: Baa I'm going out and taking Santudi with me, we will be back later on.
Baa nods her head and SANRAJ leave. DM helps Santu into the front of the car and he gets into the drivers seat and drives off out the gates, Santu just looks at him but DM has no expressions on his face just watching the road and she dare not utter a word, she knew DM's anger and when he gets like this, it just best to stay quiet until he speaks 🤔 They drive into the village near the river and DM parks the car at the side of the road. DM gets out and helps Santu out and leads her to the water. They just stand there and Santu just looks at DM questionably, the anger has gone from DM's face but softer more like her DM.
DM: Today we will catch our lunch.
Santu: Catch our lunch? 😕
DM: Ha, catch our lunch, fishing!
Santu: Fishing??? Malik do you know how to fish?
DM holds on to Santu's arm and walks her over to where a man is standing with the fishing gear set up. DM hands Santu one of the fishing rods.
DM: Ha, I used to go fishing with my Bapuji when I was younger and he showed me how to catch fish with a fishing rod 😊
Santu: Malik, it would be better if you catch fish using a fishing net, thats how everyone catches fish and thats how we used to when I was a little girl.
DM: This will be fun, fishing net is boring, come.
DM shows Santu how to use the fishing rod, he helps her put the bate on the end of rod and shows her how to cast the line out, DM does it like a pro, Santu ties her long hair up and copies DM, she swings it backwards and throws the line forward but it gets stuck, she yanks it and yanks it harder and finally throws it only to dangle above her, Santu looks up and looks at the object hanging off the line 😕 DM in all this time has been watching Santu smiling 😊 and then seen what has happened, DM shocked 😲 wants to burst out laughing, he holds his mouth but its shaking, he covers it and can no longer keep his laughter in and just bursts out laughing 🤣 (imagine DM laughing when Santu wears his kurta and dhoti scene) Santu looks confusingly at DM, why is he laughing, whats soo funny???
Santu: Whats funny Malik? Why are you laughing? Did I do something wrong? I told you its better to use a fishing net, what is it, tell me? 😕
DM: Come here dufford, quick.
Santu walks over but DM rushes over to her and grabs the end of the line and untangles the object at the end, Santu looks at it and thinks what can it be? 😕 DM wipes it on his kurta and flattens it out and walks over to the man sitting asleep 🥱 on his chair and puts the object slowly on his head and walks back to Santu. Santu holding on to DM's arm asks.......
Santu: Malik, what was it and why have you put it on that man's head?
DM: Areh dufford, quietly, you only caught his toupee. We came here to catch fish not...DM begins his laugh again 🤣
Santu: Malik what's a to....toupee?
DM: Its a man's fake hairpiece, a wig!
Santu looks at the man and at DM back at the man and bursts out laughing 🤣 she has to sit down, DM sits next to her and cuddles Santu and laughs with her, he thinking "only my dufford can do this" 😆 Santu continues laughing and suddenly she grabs on to her stomach 😵 DM looks at her thinking what's wrong and puts his hand protectively on Santu's stomach.
DM: Whats wrong, tell me 😲
Santu looks at DM and then DM feels a kick and moves his hand away.
DM: Did your stomach just jump!? 😲
Santu: Malik that was the baby, its his first kick, ouch!!!!
DM: Did he kick again??
DM puts his hand back on Santu's stomach and he feels another kick and Santu just laughs with joy as does DM 😛 he moves closer to Santu and gives her a peek on the cheek ☺️ and continues looking at Santu's stomach and rubbing it with his hand and the happy smile across Santu's face. DM completed his mission with the help of their baby 😃
DM: See even our little one who is not come into the world yet thinks his Maa is a dufford just like his Pappa does, we think the same na beta?
Santu is smiling and happy 😃 DM watches lovingly and then his phone rings. He takes it out and reads the screen "Motiben calling" DM smiles changes and thinks whether or not to pick the phone up, he decides to cut then line and call back later, the moment was just him and Santu and no one else mattered right now.
DM: Should we carry on fishing or should we go home to eat?
Santu: Lets catch some fish and then we can go and see Nanji and I can cook it there, we can see Nanaji and have lunch with him and I want to tell him about the baby kicking and what just happened, he will find it funny.
DM: I will cook lunch.
Santu: Malik?
DM: Dharamraj Mahiyavanshi can cook remember and you can help me, ha, we will see your Nanji as well as we are here.
Moti in Jamkambaria - 😕 looks at her phone disbelieved....
Moti: 😲 Nanka cut the line? I came here on Nanka's saying and he does not even bother to check to see if I am alive or dead! 😳 I will have to make a visit home!
