That had been Ila Gujral's first piece of advice to her daughter when Damini joined office.The words were first on her mind as the car approached the check post.She wasnt losing this chance.Something told her it might be the last chance she would get.She would have to take care not to alert Prithvi of her intention who was presently glowering at her.

The intensity of the glare increased as the number of cars between them and the checkpost decreased.The police navigated few cars onto the left and let a couple pass.Then it became clear that it wasnt a random selection.

"Dont stop the families.Only cars with all males need to checked." one barked into his phone.

Damini almost cringed.Beside her Prithvi relaxed visibly.She curled her fingers as the car moved forward.They will let the car pass.She wouldnt have a chance to scream out or alert the police.She needed to act now.

Her fingers traced locks and to her surprise found them unlocked.Prithvi was so tensed about the checking he had turned the central lock off.Saying a silent prayer she opened the door and ran out.The moment she had managed a little distance from the car she screamed:"HELP!"

The sound didnt carry because of the traffic noises but Damini was not concerned.She started running towards the checkpost.She would get help.She was within yards of the checkpost,with a yelling distance when two strong hands grabbed her waist.Her scream was muffled as her head was pressed against a starched shirt.
Prithvi laughed and said in a loud voice:
"Oh honey!!I love when you play hard to get."

Damini's protest trailed away as a sharp object pressed sharply against her stomach.
"If you scream Damini I will stab you hard.Trust me I would have nothing to lose."
Her palms went dry when she heard the real threat in his voice.She believed him.He was desperate!He could do anything.

"That is better.Now walk normally to the car."he ordered.She followed meekly.

They passed a police personell who grumbled.
"Why are you messing around in public??Get going!You are holding up traffic."

Prithvi flashed him an apologetic smile.He steered her to the car.She almost collapsed when he started the car.Confidently he drove away and she could see the last resort of safety fly away.

She stared at him wide eyed.He would have killed her!!!

"Dont try your cute tricks ever again."he barked out!

Nice chapter! A bit short though. But why did Prithvi kidnap her?

The room was dark,too dark.She could see the light switches situated next to her.She was standing with her back pressed to the wall.From the sound he was making he had apparently locked the door.

She gulped.He had imprisoned her.The room seemed small from vague outlines.It was slightly warm.She didnt move because she knew she might bump into something yet she didnt want to switch the lights on.

She didnt want to immerse in the surroundings.She needed to think.What was happening and why?
The first question was easily answered:Prithvi had taken advantage of her dump infatuation to bring her to a restuarant and then very easily trapped her.kidnapped her and locked her into this room with was situated in some remote area.
The second question was harder to answer:She couldnt fathom any reason for his behaviour.Yes one could argue he wanted to stop her marrying Inder but his behaviour suggested no romantic inclinations.She couldnt think of anything else.
She sank down slowly to the floor.She was scared,hungry and exhausted.The confusion wasnt helping her.A clock chimed somewhere.It was 12 o clock.

Mom must be so worried.

"No!No!"Ila insisted.her voice stern.

"I have checked on her schedhule.She dint have any meetings or PR events."
insisted Analie.

"But Ana,Damini can never just do this.She is always so sensible.She wouldnt just leave her cell phone turned off,tell no one anything and not show up for meetings.For god's sake its 12.She never comes home this late.Something is wrong."she said,her face stricken.

"Maybe she is with friends and lost track of time..."

"Ana we are talking of Damini not Roshni.Anyway call all her friends and her contacts and ask them when they saw her last."
Analie nodded and went off.The last look on her face clearly said she thought Ila was being panic stricken for no reason.

But Ila knew!She could feel it.Her baby was in trouble.

The sobbing was slightly audible through the door.The sound made Damini seem so vulnerable.
Vulnerable!!
It was funny.All the times Prithvi had thought of her,he never used the word vulnerable when he thought Damini!Strong ,independent and.....beautiful!

He shook his head and moved across the hall.The sobbing was swaying him and he couldnt let that happen.Not after all that happened.
He switched on the light in the landing and sat down in the couch.
Mentally he thanked Varun,his best friend for the letting him use this house.The key Varun pressed in his hand years ago asking him to use it whenever he wanted had been necessary in today's plan.

He couldnt keep Damini in any of his property.They were under surveillance...and were his family.Thank god Sameer was back in town.
How else could have his parents survived all this?

His fists curled.Everything..everything was ruined.

Had it only been six months that life was perfect?That he had been feeling pangs of longing for the girl he assaulted and threathened to kill today?

Shaking the feeling of guilt,he answered to himself.Time didnt matter,Six months he was a different man.Now he was different-tainted,scorned and feared.A murderer!!

Things were different now!
