Part-6
It was pleasant and clear morning after the heavy rains the previous day. The koel's singing can be heard at a distance. Everyone there once again resumed their early morning activities. Everyone in that apartments were heading towards the nearby park, for morning walk. Children started playing with the swings in the apartment's park ignoring the cold breeze. Milind had just entered the apartments after his morning jog. He stops a minute there for taking breathe, but something caught his sight. He turns his head towards the park, she was sitting there blankly , holding something in her hand. It was just after that night , he saw her outside after she fainted. He moves towards the park and sits beside her on the bench. He stares at the swings for some time. "so, how are feeling?" Milind enquired her. By the did not get any response from her, he again looks towards her, she was still staring at something blankly. He then lowers his gaze towards her hand, where she was holding a bracelet. "nice bracelet." He commented. But there was no response from her this time also. "you know one thing, our apartments morning watchman, Krishna is there na." he paused at her expressionless face. "he thinks that you are a dumb girl. He says that he didn't heard you talking till now." Milind looks at her, who was constantly ignoring him. "hey can you do me a favour." He sees Prachi turning towards him and immediately turns her face away from him. "atleast make some sounds like ahh, hm. Smething like that. Becoz people around here will think that I had gone crazy talking with swings, slides and all. By the way, are you not feeling chillness now. You may get fever or catch cold in this weather." Prachi just nods her head negatively, till ignoring him. He also starts starig at the children in the park, but suddenly turns his head towards the direction from where he could hear familiar voice. It was Keerthi's she was coming from somewhere with her mother. Both were dressed neatly and chandan kumkum were applied on their foreheads near the bindi. Seeing Milind and Prachi sitting there in the park, Keerthi's mother came there followed by Keerthi behind her, who was lazily dragging herself, with her half opened eyes. "aunty, where are you both coming from." Milind enquired after seeing their faces with kumkum and hands filled with disposal leaf bowls. "coming from the Ganesh temple nearby. Actually I took the kalash that was kept yesterday, so the rice grains and money should be given to the temple priest." Keerthi's mother replied. "Keerthi, you requested god to pass you in this coming semester exams, without any hard work na,"Milind asked Keerthi humorously. "na", replied Keerthi lazily. "what, you told him not to pass you in the exam." Milind asked her once again. "not like that."Keerthi replied this time rather irritadely. "ok, ok. Prachi did you have bath." Keerthi's mother enquired sweetly. But Prachi nodded her head positively with a weak smile on her face. "ok, then take this Prasad." She hands over lemon rice to her. "today you'll come to lunch. I'm making lunch out of that kalash rice and coconut that were offered in pooja." "but", Prachi stopped her, looking uncomfortably at Milind's face. "I … I think Ayesha should not eat that, as you are saying that is offered to god." Keerthi's mother understood what Prachi meant, but both Milind and Keerthi looked both of them in a puzzled manner, scratching their head. "why amma, what happened to Ayesha di", Keerthi enquired her mother innocently. "don't act too smart. Don't act as if don't understand anything being a girl." Her mother barked back. "anyhow, Prachi how are you feeling", her mother enquired. "yesterday, I heard that you fainted. See how weak you are. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and take of yourself well." She suggested her, while pulling Keerthi. "mom I'll give company to Prach di." Keerthi, says while trying to free herself. "you are becoming kaamchor come and help." Prachi suddenly burst out into laugh with dimples forming on her cheeks, giving a fake heartattack to Milind, whils seeing Keerthi's walk, who was dragged by her mother and otherside she was stomping her feet and going.
It was almost 3'oclock in the evening. After heavy lunch, all decided to take a nap. Keerthi's mother prepared lunch separately for Ayesha as she was going through her periods. Keerthi decided to watch a movie that was played in telugu channels, as it was a weekend, in Ayesha's house. As Prachi could not understand that language, she started reading a novel, Gone With the Wind and Ayesha slept in her room, inorder to take some rest. Milind rushed inside making PRachi to jerk, but Keerthi's full concentration was on the tv, watching the film. He simply sits beside Keerthi and waves his hand infront of Keerthi's eyes, but she just flungs his hand which was obstructing her view. He then shakes vigoursly, "what"she barked at him, making him to fall back on the sofa. He then composes himself, giving a sweet smile toward Prachi. "is that film where the hero is an undercover cop in that mafia gang. I'm I right." Milind enquired sitting straight on the sofa. "yeah." Keerthi repiles, still fixing her eyes on the tv. "so, what's the count. Is it century or half century." Milind continued to ask her. "na not that much. Just a quarter century." Keerthi replies, still fixing her eyes to the tv. Prachi who could not control her giggles, hid her face in that fat novel and laughed at their antics quietly. "ok, then where's Ayesha. I'm having two tickets for a movie for first show and no one are interested to come. So I wanted a company." Milind asked. "Ayesha di is sleeping", Keerthi casually replies, still gluing her eyes to the tv. "will you come?" Milind asked Keerthi doubtedly as she was watching her favourite hero's film. "which film", Keerthi enquired. "Gajini", Milind replied casually relaxing a bit and gazing at Prachi who still buried her head in the book. "that film, aa", Keerthi replied uninterestedly. "I have seen it five times already in telugu." "what about you Prachi, will you come to movie with me." Milind asked her suddenly. "Are you reading that novel or acting as if your reading it. Don't you feel that you are reading a boring novel." "it's classic bhaiyya." An instant reply came from Keerthi who just started to flip the magazines as it was a break for ads in the tv. "yeah I think you induced me reading this. I actually feel asleep in while I was reading it in the office." Milind replied irritatingly. "Prachi where are you in the story. Are you still in Scarlett's first husband's mourning or her second marriage." Milind asked her. "I think……. I can't", Prachi replied with a slump in her face, not feeling to go out. "don't say any excuses. That never works with me, you are only left out now and you have no choice, as I don't have any idea of selling of one extra ticket." Milind declared stubbornly. "go Prachi di, it's a very much different story. Anyways don't know about the climax." Before Keerthi could complete sentence, Milind whacks her head with the roll of papers. "don't ever talk about the climax. Suspense spoiler." Milind shouted at her and snatches the remote from her and changes the channel. "awwwwwwwww", Keerthi screamed seeing the channel has been changed. She holds the other end of the remote and starts pulling that from Milind's hand who was relaxing casually. "Di, please say yes na, otherwise he will eat my head loke this, please."keerthi pleaded, while she was still trying to pull the remote from his strong hands. "but…..what about Ayesha", prachi replied still not in the mood of going out. "don't worry, I'll inform them that you'll went for a movie." Keerthi replied still trying to pullthe remote, but now with both the hands. "ok, then I'll get ready"prachi replied weakly and went inside. Hearing Prachi, Milind felt happy and let loose of the remote making Keerthi to fall back on the sofa with the remote.
