CHAPTER 4

Oh yah she was free but she was now also responsible for a whole lot of things but she was happy...she had chosen this she was gonna make it through

In the beggining she didn't make many fnds. girls thought she was wired with her wired boyish clothes, n idea about makeup and her wired field of study...

But slowly she made two great frnds…shilpi and manya... they helped her with all her stuff…studies, shopping and boys but unfortunately her relatives lived in same city and if she was ever seen with one, her brothers wud show up and insist that she pack her bags and move back…so that aspect of her life didn't get much nourishing but happy she was with what she had…

S also completed his studies that year n joined Ashok Sinha's firm…following his footsteps he had become a criminal lawyer like him and he was good at it seeing the logic, thinking like a criminal, being the Perry mason of courts... winning all the cases he took with help and guidance from k's father. This sort of professional relationship forged a deep bond b/w the two and soon ashok started treating him as a son he never had and a potential heir and partner for the firm….

Sujal had tried to apologize to kashish for his behavior he asked nick for her no. but nick told him that she had strictly ordered nick to not comply to his request... so he wasn't in conatact with kashish although he did occasionally hear abt her from all the family…

Over the next 7 yrs s didn't get to meet her also he didn't have time to give her much thought b/w all the beautiful women he had to date and his profession sujal grewal loved his life he finally had everything a dad, brother, girls and great career at 31.

While k was also getting along fine she was at the top of her class, a popular girl, intelligent, bombed with good offers from hospitals, and great frnds…although she didn't feel life was complete. over the years she had realized the value of her family…she missed them and she missed having to go out on dates as firstly her folks strictly disapproved ….and secondly time management - her fellow doc, who had made it their life's mission to make her life hell, they didn't believe that forensics was for girls coz they didn't have enough nerves. so they wud play dirty tricks on her: hide bones in her locker, give her the grossest corpse to work with, make crude gender jokes, steel her notes, change her grades, misinform her about lectures and tests but she remained undaunted and emerged a winner by working really hard. K didn't have much time for the fun stuff like going to 3 movies in a line bunking classes skipping assignments or having boyfrnds…So she grew up to be this strong quite no-nonsense girl…whom ppl thought was cold, rude, haughty and unemotional with a professional attitude towards everything..they might have been even right… for she was like this to strangers and ppl she didn't like- it was an occupational hazard: this cold detachedness and strong nerves. But inside and for her family and close frnds she was a fun loving jolly girl who loves to laze around and crack jokes. in reality she was a warm sympathetic lady of 24, with a heart of gold.

CHAPTER 5

She had just come back yesterday, hardly unpacked her stuff, had an overnight duty at her first day, was ready to fall in bed and sleep for eternity BUT she was looking to for anything to wear to her eldest brother's kids b'day party. It was the first b'day of the first child of the next generation in their family it was a big thing…so she had to make an appearance and dang if she can find a dress for it…

"Good work son! The party's a hit, everyone is enjoying a lot" Ashok Sinha patted S on his shoulder and congratulated him for successfully, single handedly arranging the whole party.

"Thank you uncle... it's the least I could have done…", s replies glowing at the praise.

The party was in full swing and everyone certainly was having a blast, along with Sujal, as he had spotted plenty of beautiful ladies to flirt with for the whole night, yet something was bugging him.. what had nick said? Who was coming today? Just as s was lost in these thoughts his stopped on a girl who looked…different well to b honest bedraggled drug addict and totally out of place… damn some1 on drugs was gate crashing their party!

S walked over to the little figure sitting alone at the end of the mini bar, she was sipping something... her clothes were totally disheveled, crumpled and inappropriate.

K felt like resting her head on the table and dosing off she looked a shame, maybe she shudn't have come. Suddenly some1 from behind rudely barked, "hey u!!"

K turned arnd to look at the most handsome man ever, he was immaculately dressed in all black, his jet black hair nicely styled, chiseled jaw line shaved and intense charcoal black eyes. Even more handsome than before….. K smiled and said:

"Hello Sujal."

"Kashish!" Sujal couldn't hide the surprise in his voice she had grown up! His observant lawyer's eye quickly took in the details in one quick look: her face had matured but it still looked cute when she was smiling like now, there was coldness and sarcasm in her beautiful doe eyes, her lips looked great even with that mocking smile and although her dressing sense was bad as ever her dress didn't disguise her slender figure and the right curves at right places….. "nick told me u wud be here…"

"I see…" k remarked uninterestedly and turned back to her lime juice. How cud he have become even more handsome... I must be careful not to fall into his charms again, after my super teenage crush, I can't handle another life long crush on him, ….I will just ignore him plain.

"so… how r you? Haven't seen u for a long time…" s tried to strike a conversation…ok what is wrong with her how cud she just completely ignore me? I must charm this pretty lady or my reputation wud b in tatters.

"I am tired right now. Its been 7 years.. and I can see u obviously are doing very fine" k said pointing to a beautiful, attractive girl who was motioning s to came back and talk with her

S passes a hand through his hair, "well…umm… she's just a client…. Nothing serious.."

"I see no strings attached"

"that's not what I had meant to say…what you are thinking abt me is completely wrong-"

"but I don't think abt u" k interrupted him.

"ah!… of course not, why wud u? v haven't met for a long time…."

K doesn't reply she just sat their with an expressionless face giving a major blow to Sujal's ego..

"So u studied to become a doc. right?"

"Yes"

What is wrong with her cant she b ans properly what is she being so uptight about..? Women never ignore him like this! s thought, getting flustered.

"So what's ur specialization in?"

K looked him dead straight in the eye with bored expression-- "Dead people"

Sujal almost choked on the drink he had so stylishly picked up "WHAT!!!??"

"Forensics'" k hid her smile at his reaction.

"Oh! I see (giving a sigh of relief)…it must be…a aa… very …different"

"It is."

"soo… how's that cat of ur's the one with an injured leg" finding a dearth of topics, s asks.

K gulps down her drink, gives him icy stare and walks off after saying-- "that diseased thing is dead.", Leaving s standing there with his mouth hanging open.

"No girl had ever told him off like this. Kashish Sinha u r something but I'll bring that high nose of ur's down…" s mutters in his defeat.

K walked up to her brother Siddhart congratulated him, talked a bit with her bhabhi and father. But after seeing her miserable state every1 told her to go to bed, which she gladly did- envisioning Sujal's flustered face just before falling asleep.
