Javed, Ila slug it out
Gurukul judges battle over favourite contestant

This is not the first time that judges have been at loggerheads over a contestant in a talent show. Earlier, Ismail Darbar and Adesh Shrivastava battled each other on Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Now, Ila Arun and Javed Akhtar are at loggerheads over a contestant on Sony's Fame Gurukul.
The youngster in question is Gurukul student Shamit Tyagi. Confirming news of her fall-out with Akhtar, Ila says, "I have been having arguments with Javed saab. We are sitting here to judge talent. The students at the Gurukul are not related to either of us. This is a responsibility that we have to take seriously. We cannot let personal likes or dislikes mar our judgement."
According to Ila, Akhtar never approved of Shamit and always discouraged him. "Our opinions don't match at all! I feel Javed saab always tries to go against my judgement. He has been running Shamit down without any valid reason. I understand that you don't always like everyone but you cannot use your personal feelings as a weapon to attack these kids," she adds. Apparently, Akhtar behaved in a similar manner with an earlier contestant named Kirti; the student was voted out in the second round. "Personally, I thought Kirti was a damn good singer but he was voted out by Javed saab who didn't like him."
The two have been squabbling quite openly on camera as well. "I have nothing against him," she snaps, "Javed saab is brilliant with words. I know he speaks really well, but his words demoralise the contestants. I'm not going to allow this to happen. I'll defend these students even if it means fighting with him."
The constant bickering between the two has reached a point where Ila has even threatened to resign.
Our arguments were increasing by the day. We disagreed over anything and everything, so I told him if he could not tolerate me then I was willing to quit the show."
On her part, Ila feels she has done the best she can for the show. She trains the students and has been with them for weeks now, "I'm a witness to their dreams. Javed saab comes just once a week. I'm with them every single day."
We tried to contact Akhtar to get his version of the story, but he was unavailable for comment.

Jees cant beleive how immature every one has acted, well I always beleived when you sat to judge you left all your biase and were just impartial ,FG has become a joke , all due respect to Javed Akhtar immensely talented and thought he was sensible (Javed Sahab what would happen if your son was the one instead of the contestant and someone other judge behaved the way you did ) ,and Ila for heaven sake behave like a headmistress (this has become more of a fish market)
