As an outsider, it appears that many doctors are out to do exactly that.

I remember the case of my kaka. He had gal stones. He visited the doc on, at least, 7 occasions. I was with him on 2 such visits. To my utter disbelief the doc looked at some test reports, asked him how he was feeling and told him to do this test, that test and yet another test. No physical examination, no BP check. He didn't even touch him.

The next visit was almost identical except that the tests he prescribed were different.

Of course not all docs are like this.

What we have here in UAE are the package deals: normal delivery Dh 4000/-. Caeserian section Dh 7000/-. Appendix removal Dh 5000/- (or some such) Boarding and lodging included!!

Here also now they have started package deals. But only in the large metropolitan cities. Go to the rural areas - its a pathetic state out there. One of the highest Infant Mortality Rate, one of the highest Maternal Mortality Rates. Anyway, we can discuss this sometimes outside the forum.
