Brishti
I have taken a new week resolution to behave myself 😆. I got nothing against the King from Ang as long as he leaves my favorite heroine alone.

So, no proactive strikes 😆

Here are my reasons

1)Both KMG and CE state that panchali wasn'tt grieving by end of day and had no malice in her heart for her husbands. If they were forcing her into this situation then this statement makes no sense.

2)After this whenever panchali is talked about she is generally shown enjoying her life which does indicate towards the fact that she had a happy married life. For example when krishna ji .Arjuna,Drau and Subhi all go for a picnic

3)Even after all that happened she speaks highly of her husbands to Jaydratha. This does show that even if she had her complaints against them she did hold a very high opinion of them as well.Which she wouldn't have if they would have forced her into an unhappy situation

4)there is a beautiful paragraph in bana parva which shows pandvas deeply caring for panchali when panchali faints. It involves pressing her feet, her head etc. This shows that they were no male chauvinistic people who would force a woman to do soemthing

Though i do think pandavs failed at crucial moments as husbands but they were definately no villains who would have forced panchali to marry all five of them

Only VH can be considered as it never happened but dragging, name calling and other things did happen its there in other parvas as well.

sabhhayata u never really agree with anything i write😉 and i totally love it!!!😛 maybe i am not mentally sound (😳) because i welcome denials more than agreements - it allows me to look back at my own perception again.

see my lines above in bold - do u really think that within the 1-yr rule Drau could have been happy of felt stifling!!! i mean just try to imagine practically if she had gotten pregnant with one husbands child say by the end of an year then what - would she be turned pregnant only to the other brother - what if the former brother wanted to spend time with his child's mother or vice-versa??? ( i know it sounds crude but no offense meant to Drau here)
how will be the romance when cramped within bounderies of a year and internal rooms and blocked routes?? the guy with whom you spend a year openly as wife , for next four years maintain strict platonic distance .

As for KMG , well for that one part of the potter's hut Drau seems to have completely lost her voice even to say an yes to the arrangement - we assume she is ok with it!! nobody asks her anything and nor is any thoughts of her on the arrangement present in the book. the otherwise eloquent Draupadi who could speak for herself in her swayamvar completely silent here does not digest at all. Did anyone vyasa/pandavas/drupad tell her about her past life story that she would accept it easily???- no!
the akashwani which says that she is born for destruction of kurus - does it say she is predestined to marry five men???
so as per KMG everyone else from vyasa to pandavs and kunti, to drupad knows the reason of why she is getting married to five men except fot the bride herself and she is totally ok with it?😲

as for living hapily / praising her husbands - does she have a choice with her???what would she gain by ranting /feeling sorry?? - i think she was just making lemonade out of sour lemons!!! but it doesnt excuse the pandavas!

when her husband whom she has garlanded minutes ago before all has said yes to her sharing wihtout even a token of asking to her - is that not a mental pressure/force ?? of taking her wishes / thoughts as granted???

p.s. and do share your thoughts on why narada says this story to them when they already passed a year of their marital life???

just a food for thought : suta is a son from Kshatriya male and Brahmin female right - which is what Yadu , son of Yayati and Devyani is , who is the progenitor of the yadavas race,
So isnt Krishna the great friend of Arjuna also a suta???hmmm?

As per km before the Brahmin gathering vyasa comes and tells the pandavas to go to panchala and win panchali's hand and also tells them that she will be their common wife!!
So I fail to see the need for the playacting of Kunti's slip of tongue and the pandavas subsequent dilemma of mom' order!

When marrying more than one man was NOT in practise in HP, why would Vyasa suggest such a morally reprehensible idea to Ps? That too added with a story having no logic at all. Such a stupidity can never be from the thoughts of a Sanyasi.

Dear Brahmaputra, there are two citations to prove in kMG and ce that vyasa tells pandavas that Draupadi will be the common wife of all 5 because of shivas boon, and after they meet dhauumya and he accepts to be their priest they are happy and believe that this an auspicious sign so Draupadi is already won for them,
We had this discussion in the previous do thread, posting citations again. I actually love this part, Kunti order by mistake is always used as an excuse for pandavas sharing Draupadi, and these citations prove that this was preplanned, Kunti lied and yudhi happily covered up the whole plan under moms order

Citation 1.
Chatrata parva section CLXXI
"Vaisampayana said, 'While the illustrious Pandavas were living disguised in the abode of the Brahmana, Vyasa, the son of Satyavati, once went to see them. Those chastisers of foes, beholding him coming rose up and stepped onward to receive him. Saluting him reverentially and worshipping him also the Pandavas stood in silence with joined hands. Thus worshipped by them the sage became gratified. He asked them to be seated, and cheerfully addressing them said, 'Ye slayers of foes, are ye living in the path of virtue and according to the scriptures? Do ye worship the Brahmanas? Ye are not, I hope, backward in paying homage unto those that deserve your homage?' The illustrious Rishi, after this, spoke many words of virtuous import, and after discoursing upon many topics of great interest, he said, 'An illustrious Rishi, living in a certain hermitage, had a daughter of tender waist, fair lips, and fine eye-brows, and possessing every accomplishment. As a consequence of her own acts (in a past life) the fair maid became very unfortunate. Though chaste and beautiful, the damsel obtained not a husband. With a sorrowful heart she thereupon began to practise ascetic penances with the object of obtaining a husband. She soon gratified by her severe asceticism the god Sankara (Mahadeva), who became propitious unto her and said unto that illustrious damsel, 'Ask thou the boon thou desirest! Blest be thou! I am Sankara prepared to give thee what thou wilt ask.' Desirous of benefiting herself, the maid repeatedly said unto the supreme lord, 'O give me, a husband endued with every accomplishment.' Then Isana (Mahadeva), that foremost of all speakers, replied unto her, saying, 'O blessed one, thou shall have five husbands from among the Bharata princes.' Thus told, the maiden said unto the god who had given her that boon, 'O lord, I desire to have only one husband through thy grace.' The god then addressed her again and said these excellent words, 'Thou hast, O girl, said full five times, 'Give me (a) husband.' Thou shalt, therefore, in another life have five husbands!' Ye princes of Bharata's line, that damsel of celestial beauty hathbeen born in the line of Drupada. The faultless Krishna of Prishata's line hath been appointed to be the wife of you all. Ye mighty ones, go therefore, to the capital of the Panchalas and dwell ye there. There is no doubt that having obtained her as wife ye shall be very happy.'

"Vaisampayana continued, 'Having said so unto the Pandavas, the illustrious and blessed grandsire then bade them farewell. The great ascetic then left them and went to the place whence he had come.'"

Chatrata parva section CLXXXV

"Vaisampayana said, 'Then Arjuna, highly pleased with everything that had happened, gave unto that Gandharva, his weapon of fire with befitting ceremonies. And addressing him, the Pandava also said, 'O thou best of Gandharvas, let the horses thou givest us remain with thee for a time. When the occasion cometh, we will take them from thee. Blest be thou.' Then the Gandharva and the Pandavas, respectfully saluting each other, left the delightful banks of the Bhagirathi and went wheresoever they desired. Then, O Bharata, the Pandavas going to Utkochaka, the sacred asylum of Dhaumya installed Dhaumya as their priest. And Dhaumya, the foremost of all conversant with the Vedas, receiving them with presents of wild fruits and

p. 369

[paragraph continues] (edible) roots, consented to become their priest. And the Pandavas with their mother forming the sixth of the company, having obtained that Brahmana as their priest regarded their sovereignty and kingdom as already regained and the daughter of the Panchala king as already obtained in the Swayamavara. And those bulls of the Bharata race, having obtained the master Dhaumya as their priest, also regarded themselves as placed under a powerful protector. And the high-souled Dhaumya, acquainted with the true meaning of the Vedas and every rule of morality, becoming the spiritual preceptor of the virtuous Pandavas, made them his Yajamanas (spiritual disciples). And that Brahmana, beholding those heroes endued with intelligence and strength and perseverance like unto the celestials, regarded them as already restored, by virtue of their own accomplishments to their sovereignty and kingdom. Then those kings of men, having had benedictions uttered upon them by that Brahmana, resolved to go, accompanied by him, to the Swayamvara of the Princess of Panchala.'"

So there, for all intents and purposes proof that pandavas knowingly shared her, Arjun went with the intent of winning Draupadi for all 5 of them

Dear bhas
What you are saying about Krishna being a suta is true

Yay ati himself raises this point with shukracharya, devyani!s father, that if I marry your daughter my sons will be insulted as not pure Kshatriyas. But since devyani is hell bent on marrying yay ati, and she has been cursed by bhrihaspatis son Kachcha that no Brahmin will ever marry her. Shukracharya gives yayati a boon that all his sons will always be known as pure Kshatriyas

I guess being the guru of asuras, no one would have the guts to dare shukracharya and call his grandsons suta

Also, if sutas marry Kshatriya women for seven consecutive generations, they become Kshatriyas again
