I keep thinking, there must have been a reason her past was wiped clean. Sort of like a Witness Protection Program😆

I mentioned the Gingee cult before. They say she was born in the village of Kankeya. Correct me if I am wrong, isn't Kankeya another name for Muruka?

Wat is this Gingee cult?
And wat pictures of closed n open lotus are u referring to?

Also, there was no yuga division like Krita, treta, dwapara & kali before Vedanga Jyotisha. That does not mean it was Vedanga Jyotisha which introduced chatur yugas. They came into existance during or after that period.

Amrita I tried hard to find a PDF version of Alf Hiltebeitel's Cult of Draupadi Volumes 1 and 2. Both Gingee tradition and closed lotus of virginity are mentioned there

@anu - Draupadi & Kankeya???? Kankeya is a name of Muruga. It also means born from kanka. And if my memory is right, Kanka was the name of a daughter of Ugrasena, Grandfather of Krishna. If that is true, it makes Draupadi Krishna's cousin. Before I come to a conclusion, let me check once more deeper on this. Until then, no confirmation.

Did a little research. This Ugrasena could also be another person, not only Kamsa's father. This lady, Kanka, was also known as Kanki. Now, anyone who knows puranas may help us with the the lineage of Ugrasena.

Amrita, vedanga jyotisha is the oldest book on astrology in Sanskrit. It was written around 1400-1200BC.

Only in Gingee performances. The trouble is, after 5K years of interpolations and interpretations, its hard to figure out which is true. It does not say Panchali is Kankeya, just that she was born in that village.

Good to know Ugrasena had a daughter of that name. I was trying to figure out the connection between Muruga and Panchali😆

Was Kankeya a village? okay. So I am doubtful about Ugrasena's daughter. Still, we can say, Kanka's village or region was Kankeya, & consider Drau was born there & later secretly got shifted to Panchala when Kamsa began killing babies, including the daughter of Devaki, being afraid of Krishna.
