But when we discuss, we will have to keep our fondness away so that it doesn't affect the quality of our thoughts. That is what I meant by being neutral. I speak for Draupadi because she is a positive character in my eyes & she had nothing to prove her bad/wrong, to me. That is very important to me because I respect her not as her fan, but only because of what she actually was as a person. Fans obviuosly do respect their favourites which is very difficult for someone who is not a fan at all. And that makes me fond of her which was clear in my previous posts.

Now I am relieved... 😃

Actually...I agree about the neutrality part...
There was a time, when I had become quite a fanatic of Draupadi 😆 , due to reasons I am not allowed to speak on IF.
But after reading more n more, I have realized that Mahabharat is much more than stupid fan wars that people enjoy in participating, without even knowing the facts thoroughly...
I am n will always remain a Drauholic but I have also learnt to accept the good sides of the characters that I am not very fond of.
I guess...this is y I dont like most POV novels, bcoz they tend to malign characters to justify the protagonist...
Is it not possible to put forth one side of the story without being bashful of the other side?I am still looking for answers of this one question of mine...

Amrita, regarding your question, I personally do not see MB from a single character's perspective.
I don't agree with Karna was a hero, considering current MB. MB is nowhere Karna's story. Even if you take Karna out of it, things will not change much than Ps would have won the war easily. So it is difficult to say whether he was a hero or not, based on today's general perception of heroes. All I can say is Karna was a good human who never cheated his own soul. He might have been manythigs in the eyes of others, but to himself, he never betrayed anyone. We may compare Karna at two points of his life, but not with anyone else for they all were different persons, entirely different from each other.
I have nothing to add to what you told about Draupadi. She is the hero (keeping gender descrimination out) of the story. Had I known more about her, I would have added more.

POV books are good as they give us an idea of the characters' motives. A psychological study, if you will.

The EVENTS should not be changed
So, Karna calling Panchali names cannot be taken out but interpretation can be given. I have no problem with that. I even liked POI, but Panchali's character was inconsistent in that book. On one hand she is this amazing woman who did everything and on the other she was this angst-ING idiot.

And no, they are not all heroes. MB is not their story. Yudi, Dury, Panchali, Arjun, Krishna and Bheem are the absolutely indispensable characters Of course the story would have changed if the elder generation had made different decisions but once that was done, these were the only ones who could have changed the story.

Krityas are not dolls. They are women created from fire of sacrifices done with intentions to destroy someone or something completely. They are highly destructive & cannot be controlled once they are created. Draupadi also shares some features with Krityas- spontaneous, born from sacrificial fire, female, said to have brought destruction etc but she also had a heart & a brain.

if we avoid the divinity part and look from a rationalist perspective
Saraswati river was dying. Due to Jarasanda Krishna had moved to dwarka which was at the point of saraswati entering the sea

Rivers were migrating and tectonic shifts were at the peak, krishna was one of the most intelligent men of the time and he had access to scientists who could tell him that within some years they would have to leave dwarka

He could see the Vedic civilization which covered Central Asia, Himalayas and Indian subcontinent with saraswati in the centre will have to move east wards to gangetic plain, and central India. which was occupied by Kurus and Panchalas. Magadh had central India.
These areas were already populated. Then density would increase further when more people would be pushed to live in a smaller area.

Population had to be reduced drastically and suddenly for civilization to survive.

He was the only one who could prevent the war, yudhishtir wanted peace and would have settled for any 5 villages, Panchali would not have any choice and would have had to fall in line. But Krishna used sahadeva to select the 5 villages which duryodhan will not accept and hence war.

Over a period of 18 days crores of men died, then ashwatthama made pandava women infertile, and then vyasa helped lacs of wiomen to take water funeral to be with their husbands p

What if balarama saraswati pilgrimage was actually a fact finding mission to see post war feasibility of migration of remaining population. And then after 36 years Krishna still feels the population too large to be accommodated in gangetic plain and hence yadava fratricide

WhAtever he was, Krishna was definitely not selfish. He was not looking at yadava domination. Rather reducing the population

War is the best way, because then population culling can be selective. Kshatriyas participated in the war. Disease or plague cannot be selective, as in it will affect everyone

So the Brahmans ( intelligencia, scientists, teachers), vaishyas ( traders and businessmen) and Shudras ( workers, labour force, artisans) were saved Who are more essential for civilization to continue and of course 5 pandavas were there to rebuild the empire with a new army but lesser population

It is surely possible. But for most people, accepting one side along with the other is no less than equal to complete surrender of their favourites. So if a writer wants to sell his ideas, he naturally has to find something to blame. That is why POV books irritate the most.
