But Anu, DId Ghato have a claim, really? Not talking about him being non- Aarya. If all the kids would have survived, wouldn't Yudhi's eldest son be the Heir to HP throne. Unless ofcourse he was not a capable person, only then would it go to someone else. Even then I would think it would be the second or third sons of Yudhi (if he had them), who would get preference. Only then would Ghato come in the picture, no?

The whole justification for Yudhi's claim to the throne was that the rule of male primogeniture didn't apply in Kuru family. In that case, what disqualified Ghato?

Wasn't that Dury's counter claim that A reigning King's son ought to be king. Yudhi had preference bcoz his Dad was also a king. Had Pandu been just a younger bro, I doubt this claim would have come, even if Yudhi was older to Dury, no.

It may not have applied to Kuru family, but I think, they generally followed the primogeniture rule, unlike cases like Shantanu, Bheeshma etc, where there were reasons, the younger sibling became king.

I could have sworn the family had the rule that the most able person became the king.

If there was a rule, like that, it should have been clear to Dury and everybody else, rt? Probably an unwritten rule.

If there was a rule then it was only being non-aarya that stopped Ghato from being King. But If that was the case, it shouldn't have stopped Vidur from being a King too, after Pandu left. Dhrit was not a capable ruler, I think. But they needed a person with the right blood, on the throne, I guess

Since we are on the topic of Ghato -

Any reason for Drona not using his multitude of Divyastras to kill Ghato? That could have helped Karna in saving his Shakti for Arjun.

Drona had a soft spot for Arjun and the P's (maybe), but I'm assuming it didn't extend to their kids, considering that Abhi was killed under his orders.
