Pros and Cons

Okay its been ages since i made a separate post and i have quite a few things to gush & rant about, so i thought why not make one today 😆 First off, there are a couple of things which are really bothering me off late..One of course is the way Baldev's character is being written & the way they are progressing with the love story & the other is about his pathetic wardrobe ( i guess i have ranted enough on that) 😆 So yeah, am i the only one who is finding Baldev's extreme goodness jarring & abrupt to say the least? I was discussing this with a friend of mine & since she missed an epi, i was giving her an update & when i told her about Baldev, her instant reaction was an 'Aww' followed by a dreamy smiley 😆 And then, the next moment she exclaimed how she couldn't believe Baldev is reacting this way 😆 Am not sure if this makes sense but thats exactly where the problem lies..Baldev pampering Veera or going out of the way to please her or the family looks endearing in isolation..But when you look at the story as a whole, it looks way too abrupt & inconsistent..I have always said Baldev survives only because of Vishal & these writers prove me right almost every single time 😆

Ppl tend to assume Baldev is the best written character on the show only because the actor playing the role is a doing a great job..Replace Vishal & the character falls flat..Just because a character is layered & unpredictable, you cant go about making him black/ grey or white as & when you please 😆 There is something called character consistency & character growth and both these concepts are alien to the writers of this show..Why is it that we are supposed to assume everything when it comes to their love story? The only reason why am convinced Baldev loves Veera with all his heart is because of the way he looks at her..And thats mainly because of Vishal's eyes 😆 The writers have made no attempt to show why, how & when Baldev fell for Veera..Atleast with Veera, she had a decent realization track..But what about Baldev? Wasn't he under the delusion that Veera loves him & he is merely fulfilling his zimmedhari? 😆 And then when Veera broke his heart, he was so aghast yet there were hardly two scenes where he mulled over it.. I mean I understand the guy is forgiving but i din know he had such immense supernatural powers to get over a heartbreak in no time & go about things in life like nothing ever happened 😆

Am still surprised that Baldev never felt the need to think of the time Veera faked her love ( atleast once) after she confessed that she was in love for real this time..I always assumed its a reflex reaction..Realistic may i add..He din doubt her feelings even once? Where did the whole 'once bitten, twice shy' adage go? 😆 And then in a couple of days, they turn him into the best & most loyal boyfriend ever? Where is the gradual progression CVs? What is the hurry to make Baldev all that? 😆 Why couldn't they take it slow, show atleast one scene where Baldev introspects & realizes that his love overpowers every other ambition & emotion of his and then a slow progression in his character? But no, they were so desperate to start with the love story & turn Baldev into a love sick puppy 😆 Lemme add that while am fond of intense, passionate stories, i don mind seeing normal, realistic ones either..But normal love stories need a lot more than cheesy, repetitive romance 😆 I never thought i'l say this but i must add that Baldev was better off as a side character😆 They have turned him into a boring, sugary sweet boyfriend in the name of making him the lead & its depressing to see such a kickass character being reduced to this thanks to a bunch of uncreative writers..I still have hope though ( more like clutching at straws 😆) & i wish they do something with the story & his character asap 😆

Now on to the gushing 😆

So we ( myself & GnF) were discussing Vishal's eyes the other day & we realized how well he actually uses them depending on the demands of the situation..I mean, no doubt, he is blessed to have such gorgeous eyes but he actually uses them in the best manner possible 😆

That scene where Baldev looks mesmerized at Veera during Gunjan's engagement -it was full of awe, admiration & surprise with a tinge of love ( and it was the polar opposite of 'i wanna eat you up' wala expression😆 )

And then you have all those scenes where Baldev looks smitten at Veera during the whole ' Challenge & marriage obsession track'-Its a mix of playfulness, admiration & love yet its so full of innocence

Finally the storeroom scene which aired a few days back-I swear i saw a lot more than innocence for the first time...There was love, there was innocence, there was admiration yet you could see a lot more than that..And Vishal actually manages to show that difference just by using his eyes..That expression..Like my friend says, its that expression which makes a girl blush/ melt into a puddle but it never makes her cringe/ feel grossed out..Only because he does it in the most non-vulgar manner possible 😆

When other guys look at the girls they are supposed to be in love with ( other shows to be precise), the first thing that strikes you is that they are taken in by their beauty..You know they find the girl beautiful & you also find a tinge of physical attraction..Of course there is love but you don think of it first hand..But when Baldev looks at Veera, the first thing that crosses your mind is that he loves her..That expression screams love ( Thanks to his eyes😳😆)..You don even think of the fact that Baldev finds Veera beautiful or physically attractive because the only thing that strikes you when he looks at her is that he loves her with all his heart..And am gonna go ahead & give the entire credit to them gorgeous eyes cos the writers don deserve it one bit 😆 - ( Credit-GnF)

Oops that was long but i had to get this out of my chest so bear with me 😆

P.S. After all the ranting, if Baldev again starts wearing a kurta & Nihal comes back, i'l probably shut up & start watching the show again with renewed zeal 😆

1) I think all of us want to see him in kurtas soon I hope jaldi se jaldi they change his wardrobe. Bahut din ho gaye shirts pehente ab toh 😒

2) I think I agree with you on the fact that Baldev's character isn't well written but it is actually Vishal who is making us believe that it is an amazing character. The guy is rising above the script time and again!

3) I never expected them to show a proper realisation track for Baldev because he isn't the lead. But, there have been many instances from their first hug jisse samajh jaata hai ki he loves her. Eg : WantSuri anniversary scene or where she sprains her leg and he goes to check if she is alright or the scene where he says "Tainu dard hota hai toh mainu bhi toh hota hai" Yes, the realisation could have been better but then I kya kar sakte hai 😆

4) Yes, the romance is looking like a high school romance but then from where will the intensity come ? They both behave like kids and they haven't really faced problems. Their real test will be when everybody opposes their relationship . That will be like the much needed jhatka. Baldev hasn't really given a thought ki what if people donot accept them and Veera is still looking for a perfect time to tell everybody about their relationship 😆 😆

5) But, what I actually like about VeeBa is that unlike the other couple they share their problems and have heart to heart talks instead of just hugging ! Their serious convos > Romance !

As much as I love this show, i almost wanted to quit watching this week. I was very surprised by myself because after a long time I consistently followed a show for 4-5 months which is something new for me.

Personally, I think the makers have exhausted all the high points of the show which could have been better utilized for character development. The first on my list is the Sarpanch track, which had so much of potential and went down the drain. Most disappointing track, ever.

Secondly, Baldev's angst and his struggle with his feelings. There was just one scene where they showed how he was wildly conflicted when he caused her pain by making her fall. And that was that.

Even for Veera, Gunjan, Ratan and Ranvi I think a number of tracks were wasted. For eg, Veera's emotional distress when she learns of her origins and how ratan is not her biological mom could have been stretched. Then Gunjan's NRI ex-fiance, Ratan's acceptance of Veera, Ranvi struggling to accept Gunjan after all she did...the list goes on.

Bottomline- The writers suck big time when it comes to showing character growth, and especially in writing introspection scenes. After the Nihaal track and VeeBa truth out track, what is left in this show? Something to ponder about indeed.

Exactly..I have no idea why they rush through all the important tracks..Its frustrating to say the least 😆 Baldev being conflicted by his feelings & struggling with it would have made for a brilliant track..I thought Vishal was really good in that one scene where they bothered to show Baldev caring for Veera despite all the 'hatred' he had for her..Post that, its been really disappointing cos they rushed into the 'friendship phase'..They have a good actor, a story with potential, a couple with chemistry yet they just don care 😆

good post.i totally agree with u.baldev character is adorable becoz of vishal no doubt.bt i sometime find baldev realistic.becoz one of my friend is kinda unpredictable.she is short tempered & bt have good sense of humour too.when she fall in love i hate to see her turn in to love sick puppy.no matter how bad her bf behaved or fought she fisrt get angry bt always surrender first.totally out of chrcter.she changed so much for her bf only bt her behaviour remained same to others.

And Vishal used his eyes terrifically in yesterday's episode as well. The elation that he feels because of his ladylove's b'day, and how much he adores her and cares for her, and how he wants her to have all the happiness in the world- *sigh*

Then it struck me- they have almost reached the fag end when it comes to potential for creating drama.

Exactly ! This is something which is worrying me as well ! I have come to know that the singer track is returning but the I am sure it wont last for more than a week . Then they will drag VeeBa's family drama for like a month and then shaadi and then what ? They wasted like 5 months on Gunjan drama which was the lowest point ever for this show ! I wanted to quit the show then but because of Baldev that never happened. The episodes are much better now but I am mostly concerned how the writers are rushing with all the main tracks !

See i still understand why Baldev fell for Veera..After Karan's exit from the show, there have been several scenes which established beyond doubt that he has a soft spot for her & he is just deluding himself into believing she loves him only because he wants her to feel that way about him at a subconscious level..Thats fine..But after she broke his heart & he lost the elections, they really should have shown more scenes where he struggled with his feelings..I sound like a broken record now but that track had SO MUCH potential 😆 About the romance, am bored of their eye locks tbh..Even Vishal's eyes cannot save them..I don even want passionate scenes & i din mind the 'kiss' scene either..Am okay with it even if we never get proper intimate scenes on the show cos i understand DS is young & its Indian Telly at the end of the day..But they should stop showing cheesy & repetitive romance asap..And yes, the boyfriend-girlfriend shit needs to stop right now🤢 😆

Can't agree more ! I am kind of glad that they didn't focus on the kiss rather they focussed on Baldev's face because it was so amazing to see the change in his expressions ! 👏 It was pure love !

Honestly, i can never understand this 'love changes ppl' argument 😆 Indian Telly seems to take way too much advantage of this argument & change characters as they please once they fall in love 😆 If love makes an intense & brooding businessman dance on 'Oh oh Jaane Jaana' or do the famous towel dance, i'd rather they never fall in love 😆
