And such heroes are not given much importance in those shows because there is nothing much entertaining about their characters. Here we are lucky we have Baldev. Otherwise it wouldn't have run as a youth show.

Baldev is the most lonely character on the show if you ask me.
Veera has always had Ranvi by her side. Ranvi has always had his entire family. So Ranveera even after having lost their father had a good upbringing.
Gunjan never got her mother's love. But always had her father by her side though he never stood up for her rights. Plus she had a best friend in Ranvi. She could have shared all her problems with him and he would always have helped her in the growing phase.

Baldev was always loved by his mother. But her love was sweet poison to him. Bansuri does things for her advantage and this intention of hers has been cleared by the makers.
Baldev's father never stands up for him. Always humiliates him in public even when he is right.
Baggi are not like how Ranvi would be to Gunjan. This is the reason why Baldev is attached to Veera. In the true sense, she is the only person who tries to correct him or pump some sense to him. She gives him her undivided attention when they are together. Hence he is attached to her even in animosity.

I saw that yearning in Baldev's eyes for his father's affection throughout the week. Even after being drunk, he said "Gunjan papaji ki hamdardi paane ki laayak nahi hai" He respects Balwant. Though Balwant does not deserve even an ounce of it. But I believe it was Balwant's scoldings that set him on the right path to an extent. Here lies the difference between Gunjan and Baldev. Gunjan adopted the wrong way to win over her mother whereas Baldev always stands by his principles even when he wants his father's affection.

I would want Balwant to run into some trouble and Baldev saving his father out of the mess. Only then would he realize his son's worth. Baldev is a gem and if polished would shine even more than Ranvi. But Balwant has never made any serious efforts towards the same.
It would be Veera who would save him out of his troubled past and present. Baldev does not realize what he himself is. He doesn't understand his own worth.

As for the sarpanch title, a hardworking Baldev is a deserving candidate for the same. A reformed Baldev would be a male version of Ratan.

The character is very well written and layered perfectly. I just hope the makers explore him well and give him his own track.

I second your all thoughts and opinions 😊
I have always loved such complex characters, specially antagonists, who always try to hide their emotions and feelings denying them by saying they dont have them, but the case is total opposite, they have so much emotions deep inside them but not able to express them. The vulnerability and the fight within themselves..is a treat to watch and how they portray these is a hell of a task! Hats off to Vishal for portraying this role with such complexity. 👏 Thats what has attracted me towards him, and the layers that these roles have are worth watching, how they execute them slowly is something to look forward to.😊

Mohini-right on the money honey!!! Our Ballu's got tons of shades, but none of them are the black hearted one infecting his sister!
