Part 13

Baldev was very happy. Today his papaji and beeji would go to Veera's house to ask Ratan chachiji and Ranvi for Veera's hand in marriage.

Baldev (thinking to himself): "Aaj mera sapna sach ho jaana hai! Bas Ranvi iss shaadi ke liye maan jaye!"

("Today my dream will come true! I just hope Ranvi agrees to this wedding!")

Baldev decided to call Veera. The phone kept ringing at first, and Baldev got a little impatient at Veera for not picking up his call. Finally, after what seemed like forever, Veera finally picked up her phone.

Veera: "Baldev, kya hai? Mainu phone kyun kiya? Main tujhse baat nahin kar rahi! Main abhi bhi tujhse naraaz hoon."

("Baldev, what is it? Why did you call me? I am not talking to you! I am still mad at you.")

Baldev was confused.

Baldev: "Naraaz? Kyun? Maine kya kiya?"

("Angry? Why? What did I do?")

Veera was actually not upset but she wanted to trouble Baldev.

Veera: "Jab Gunjan bhabhi hospital mein thi, tune mere veerji ka collar pakda and mujhse bhi tu naraaz ho gaya tha. Isliye main tujhse naraaz hoon."

("When Gunjan sister in law was in the hospital, you had held my brother's call in anger and even got upset with me. That's why I am upset with you.")

Baldev (upset): "Kya? Tu abhi bhi mujhse naraaz hai?! Accha theekh hai, tu bata mainu tere liye ki karna hoga?"

("What? You are still upset with me?! Ok, tell me what do I have to do?")

Veera was enjoying this. Baldev was actually ready to do whatever she wanted him to do.

Veera: "Theekh hai. Tujhe veerji se maafi maangni hogi, hum dono ke parivaar ke saamne. Phir main iss shaadi ke liye haan kahungi."

("Ok. You will have to apologize to my brother in front of both our families. Then, I will say yes to this marriage.")

Baldev: "Kya? Tu paagal ho gayi hai ki? Tenu pata hai na ki main iss pind da sher hoon, aur kabhi kissi se maafi nahin maangta?"

("What? Have you gone mad? You know that I am this pind's lion, and I never apologize to anyone.")

Veera (teasing Baldev): "Soch le Baldev! Varna veerji meri shaadi kisi doosre munde se karwaiyenge."

("Think about it Baldev! Otherwise my brother will get me married to another guy.")

Baldev couldn't see Veera with any other guy, and so taking a deep breath, he decided to let go of his ego.

Baldev: "Theekh hai. Mujhe teri shart manzoor hai."

("Ok. I accept your challenge.")

Veera was very happy. She was trying really hard not to laugh when Baldev agreed to her challenge.

Meanwhile in Ranvi and Gunjan's room...

Ranvi had been noticing that Gunjan had truly changed. She seemed to have genuinely started to have feelings for him. Ranvi smiled thinking about Gunjan's feelings and care towards him.

Ranvi was buttoning his kurta, getting ready before Balwant tayaji and Bansuri tayiji come home when he noticed that his kurta's button had come off.

Ranvi (thinking to himself): "Iss shirt ke button nu abhi hi tootna tha?"

("This shirt's button had to come off now?")

Gunjan who had come into their room then noticed Ranvi struggling with his kurta's button.

Gunjan: "Ki hoya Ranvi? Tenu koi madad chahiye ki?"

Ranvi: "Nahin Gunjan main theekh hoon."

("No Gunjan, I am okay.")

But Gunjan didn't listen and after having figured out what was wrong, she went and got a thread and needle to stitch the button back on Ranvi's kurta.

Gunjan: "Ab mainu kaam karne de."

("Now let me do my work.")

Ranvi smiled and couldn't help but stare at Gunjan, admiring her while she fixed his kurta's button.

Gunjan: "Le hogaya."

("There, its done.")

That's when Gunjan looked up at Ranvi after having fixed the button back on. She looked at Ranvi. Ranvi and Gunjan shared an eyelock.

Gunjan decided it was now or never. She would tell Ranvi that she loved him.

Gunjan: "Ranvi, mainu tujhse kuch kehna tha. Bahut zaroori baat hai."

("Ranvi, I have something to tell you. Its important.")

Ranvi (curious to know what Gunjan had to say): Haan Gunjan, bata mainu."

("Yes Gunjan, tell me.")

Gunjan: "Ranvi, main tujhse py.."

("Ranvi, I lo..")

But before Gunjan could complete her sentence, Ratan called out to Ranvi and Gunjan to come downstairs since Balwant, Bansuri and Baldev had arrived to meet them.

Ranvi: "Aaya beeji!"

("Coming mom!")

Ranvi looked at Gunjan, giving her a look of apology.

Gunjan: "Main tenu baad main bataongi."

("I will tell you later.")

Ranvi smiled and then together, Ranvi and Gunjan went downstairs to greet Balwant, Bansuri and Baldev.
