CHAPTER-3.

Baldev was shocked still for some time at her words.

The seconds passed,and ended in minutes,but still no sound came out from his mouth..

With a shocked expression he stared at her angry face..The Veera of old had returned..Or had she really..?

She was really not the earlier Veera too..She was a different person it seemed.The hatred and loathing he saw on her face was not the normal one..It was of deeper intensity,the heat of it burning him even now..

He searched her eyes,the very eyes that had been glowing with love for him even some hours ago..The love was not anywhere to be seen.,

He inhaled a raspy breath,trying to get a hold on himself,when Veera pushed at him forcefully.

He held her hand in his,still on his thudding chest,and clenched it tight..

"Tainu pata bhi hai ki mainu tujhse kinni zyada nafrat hai,Baldeva..?!

[Do you have any idea,that how much I hate you Baldeva..?!]"She hissed out breathing heavily..

Quietly Baldev stared on at her face for a few more seconds,her captured hand still held tight against his chest..

Suddenly he let go of her hand,got up from the bed and turned away from her..

A few more seconds passed,of complete silence..And then he started laughing out loud..A loud gusty laughter of victory and happiness..He laughed on and on and on,unaware of the shocked expression on Veera's pale face.

Finally controlling his laughter he turned to face her again,his hands brushing away the tears of mirth from his eyes..

"Tainu ki lagta hai Veera..?!Ki mainu koi farak painda hai..?Tu mainu nafrat kare ya pyaar..Mainu tujhse to sirf dushmani hi nibhani thi..Uss Ranvi ko sabak sikhana tha..

[What do you think Veera..?!That it matters to me..?Even if you love me or hate me..I just had to fulfil my enmity with you..Had to teach that Ranvi a lesson..]"He gritted out,his eyes now glittering with rage and anger.

Veera's eyes widened at his words..She inhaled a long shattered breath..

"Chal achcha hi hua ki tainu mujhse nafrat hai..Mainu ye pyaar ki nautanki karne ki aur shaukh nai hai..Mainu to apni chiz mil gayi..Tu mil gayi..Baas itna hi kafi hai mere liye..Aab to tujhe zindagi bhar mera gulami karni paregi..

[Anyway it's good that you hate me..I don't want to go on doing this fake loving act anymore..I got my thing..I got you..That's enough for me..Now you have to be my slave for the rest of your life..]"He said in a husky whisper,as he sat close to her once again..

Veera was completely quiet,and stared into his eyes with a numb expression..No anger glittered in her eyes anymore..Nothing was expressed in her large brown eyes..

Baldev smirked with satisfaction again..

"Haan agar tainu lagta hai ki tu teri Veerji ke paas madad ke liye jayegi,to bauhot vaddi galti kardegi Veera..Soch agar teri Veerji ko sachchai ki bare mein pata lagega to wo jee payega..?Aur uski Gunjan se rishta bhi kharaab ho jayega..Soch lena..Main chalta hu..Baad me milenge tujhse..Meri pyari Biwi..

[And yes if you think that you will run to your Veerji for help then you'll be making a huge mistake..Think when your Veerji learns about the truth,will he be able to live with himself..?And his relation with Gunjan will also become bad..Think about it..I am leaving..Will see you later..My Beloved wife..]"He finished sending her a wink,and getting out of the room quietly.

The world had turned over for her..A numbness had took over her senses..She did not know how to act or react or feel..

That one conversation he had overheard had turned her entire life and existence upside down..She was now drowning in a dark abyss of endless searing pain..As if someone was sinking a long long knife into her stomach,and rotating it to cut off her insides..And she could just stand and bleed to death,and wait for the last breath to leave her body..

A storm was brewing inside her..A hurricane,had started its whirlpool of turmoiled emotions,shattered dreams,and misplaced love..

Her vision and mind was completely blank,except the flash back of that one conversation she overheard..

FLASHBACK:

Veera was going to call Gunjan didi in secret..She had forgotten to bring the gift she had kept for Baldev..

So she had walked to the window of Baldev's room,and opened it to get proper signal.

Reassured she kept the phone..

Gunjan didi had hidden the gift in Baldev's almira so that no one sees it..

Smiling with happiness,she was about to close the window when she saw a dark shadow walking towards bushes near to the window with phone in his hand..

Veera squinted trying to see who could it be at this time of night..

"Hello..?Yes you can talk now..I can hear you now.."The person said in a familiar deep voice.

Veera's heart squeezed with joy,and a loving smile came to her lips.

Baldev!Her heart sang out.

"Hello..?Yes I've married her..Yes Surjeet praji I'm not lying..!"

A frown creased her forehead..He was talking to him..?!

"Yes..I know it was your idea to marry her to become the sarpaanch easily..!I know that if I have her by my side,no one will really oppose me..!Yes,I know it was all your idea,and I AM grateful to you..!But you do remember your promise don't you..?Don't forget that..Yes I'm keeping my part of the bargain,now it's your turn too.."

Veera closed the window,and walked to the bed,her mind reeling with what she had just heard..

END OF FLASHBACK...

Veera closed her eyes and then a drop of tear fell down,then another,and another..

A loud thunder crashed the sky..Warning of an upcoming storm..

Veera sobbed out loud,and lay down on the bed,hiding her face within the pillow,as she whimpered out loud..

"Veerji!Aab main ki karungi..?!!

[Veerji!What should I do now..?!!]"

She sobbed into the pillow..She sobbed her heart out.Her broken heart that was now tattered to shreds,by another phone conversation..

Her muffled sob echoed in the empty room,and reached no one's ears,except one person,as the thunderstorm outside grew in intensity too..

The very person who had caused the pain stood just outside the door,with his head knelt against the closed door..

Her muffled sob reaching his ears,as a raw pain masked his handsome ravaged face..

"Baldev!Congratulations!You just managed to kill an angel today..!"He cursed out softly,clenching his hand into tight fists.
