CVs, don't u think u r going too over board with the drama quotient to get the required TRPs for the show?
I've read an article today which really states the exact opinion of the loyal audiences of this show, which u fail to gauge yourself. Here r those lines.
"What was supposed to be a beautiful timeless tale of love with a period drama touch to it has turned into something unrecognizable today. Viewers miss the old EK THA RAJA EK THI RANI and the only thing that keeps them hooked to the show even today is to see their favorite couple RAGA aka RANAJI n GAYATRI essayed by the amazingly talented Siddhanth Karnick n Drashti Dhami."
These r the exact things every viewer of this show feels now. U achieved this with in very less time period where as it takes 2 to 3 years to other shows to reach there. U did a good job.
I've some basic doubts: 1. With this so called nonsensical twist of RNJ being from non royal lineage, U cut the basic roots of this show, lost the USP of this show. How r u going to justify that twist? Since in that period of time, lineage dictates the ruling as it was still Monarchy not Democracy which was in existence. If RNJ is not a royal by birth, he is not a king even though he has many virtues.
2. U made RM the worst kind of a cheater who cheated everyone including her own husband n King, her adopted son, the people of her kingdom. And on top of that she never had any remorse for doing that n still she cheats the son she claims to love as her own, when that son is suffering the worst kind of a heart break in his life. U made her the worst kind of a schemer n power hungry such that even BRM & co r looking like genuine persons who r fighting for their own legal rights.
3. Here comes the queen RGD. previously she used to think sensibly n even though she has some flaws, the basic nature of her character is intact. But right now she is also looking like a desi tv FL who is a super woman n do all things single handedly n make her hubby look more like a villain who always gives pain to her.
4.If we talk about vamps/villains in this show, then the less said the better. They r the worst kind of -ve persons who can kill anyone at the blink of an eye n have no human feelings at all. Let us not get started with that topic.
If u want to save ur show, then at least do some needful n rectify the mistakes.

Soumya, if you watch the first episodes of the show, you would feel that nothing of these weird things were planned, Ranaji was very much royal by lineage and actions too (you should get back to hear Rajmata's dialogues about how the riyassat, raeesi, and tahzeeb sirf wirassat mein milte hai, and another scene where she was looking at her husband's portrait- which looked like Ranaji!- and talking to Yashoda about how much Bari Ranaji would have been proud of Ranaji for winning the war and coming back and she also said that she wants to thank God not only as a Rani but as a mother too for protecting her son in the battelfield, and she said that Ranaji respected the Parampara of Singh dev vansh and he made his defunt dad's name shine!!! ), so I don't think they planned this twist at all nor did they plan to dumb Ranaji's character at least not to this extent! he was a perceptive, witty man who was fighting his inner demons (death of his wife and the wounds of the world war- he had two flashbacks of world war, one when soldiers were welcoming him firing rifles into the air, and another during a lavish party when he heard fireworks-) and who wanted to become a good king and started off really well with his mission (apart from the lagan on water thing, there were other things like building homes for praja, and something about listening to paraj's complaints) and he was royal to the T, respected by everyone, he had many people around him, Bhanoo, Anuruday, Deewanji... soldiers all around, he was oozing royalty in his mannerism, body language, polite but very sophisticated and his entourage too was showing him the respect due to a Raja. I used to like his interactions with Bhano he seemed to be to Ranaji what Yashoda was to Rajmata though we never heard Ranaji share very private things with him, but I remember Bhano was the one who took the horse to Ranaji when he came back from World war, he knew Ranaji liked ghor sawari, Bhano saved his life doing that, and I also remember that Bhano asked Ranaji about that book about dreams, only when you really have more than just a professional relationship with your Raja you can ask these things and I remember Ranaji told him what it was about!!

Gayatri too was special, she wasn't mahan, she was a clever girl, she used to have things her way, she loved her parents and all, but she stood for herself (minus with her bhabis, I don't know why maybe she considered them really her own and overlooked whatever they said or did), she was at times very brave even reckless 😆The way she drove that car and wrote a note to the Raja asking him to allow women to drive, I liked her tit for tat with soldiers when they tried to do ghar ki talashi post the pot falling incident, I liked Ranaji's reaction to her words, what a build up that was yaar, I thought at some point in the future they will make Ranaji remember these things about this bahador girl, I thought they might discuss that book they both were reading about dreams and many other things... Somehow I think Cvs were going in this direction but I don't know what happened to them, did they change?!, were they pressurized by channel, I can't say exactly what happened but show was going really well, and I still can't believe they forgot everything about consistency/storytelling and just kept trying the standard formulas of desi soap world!!

Show was supposed to be something else, even Gayatri's big brother had a role in the show, he was supposed to be a freedom fighter, I came across this old article below about him, her dad too used to mention that hawa badal rahi hai, riassati khatm hoti jarahi hai and Rajas/Mahrajas don't have the same power like before..

Kartik Soni excited about his new look in Zee TV's Ek Tha Raja...

Kartik Soni is simply excited about his new avatar, as he is all set to play a freedom fighter in Zee TV's upcoming show, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani (Sphere Origins).

Completely different when compared to his fun-loving character in Colors' Sanskaar - Dharohar Apno Ki, Kartik will play a man holding to his ideologies in his new show.

Also, from being seen wearing trendy clothes, he will now sport a dhoti and kurta for the first time ever.

Talking about his newest and different role, Kartik told us, "It is simply amazing to be part of such a huge show asEk Tha Raja. I will play the role of Shyam, who is the elder brother of the protagonist, Drashti Dhami. He will be a very sensible and mature guy, very protective about his sister. Shyam will follow his father's path, and will want to keep away from the kitchen drama created by his nagging wife."

Kartik who hails from Bhopal did a lot of preparations to get into the skin of this character. "Basically, the man treads the path of a freedom fighter. And in order to get the body language, dressing sense of freedom fighters of Bhopal in that era, I met up with many of my grandfather's friends who are still living there. I read a lot about them. Since I am from Bhopal, I could connect easily with the dialect. Yes, it is really tough to carry the dhoti and kurta. But I am now getting used to it."

Talking about his camaraderie with the co-actors, he stated, "We had a superb time while shooting in Bikaner. Drashti, Moon Banerjee (mother), Vikas (brother) and I had a whale of a time and gel well with each other."

Kartik, way to go!!

@arshisfan, I am also quite shocked with this twist of RNJ's lineage. I actually watched the first few episodes, particularly very first episodes as I wanted to find about any clue r some thing like that, but no there is nothing like that in the beginning. Even after his return from the forest after leaving RGD there when RM comes to him n they had the convo, where she clearly says that she has given birth to him. I still didn't get why they changed this whole thing n made a big mess.😡

Nice to see you after a long time.
This show has completely changed..This is not the same show which we used to see once..
I agree that cvs has trp pressure but for the sake of trps, it was not necessary to butcher all the characters..

@soumyamurali,
Sad state of affairs. Makes me wonder why when they had a period story, did they have to shift tracks and make a khichdi of the story. Makes no sense at all. Wish they reverse back to the original score and give us what they promised.

@Arshifan,
Missed ure posts so much. Going back to the earlier episodes makes me nostalgic.

Just chill Soumya 😊, it's just a show at the end of the day, it doesn't deserve being worked up for, waise bhi almost all shows get ruined after a certain point on DesiTv land it's just that this one faced that faith too soon woh bhi when it has a backdrop that allows for many appealing twists and events that could help run the show for long if well thought, and they played with one of the most attractive selling propositions of the show (the royal lineage). Nevertheless, my biggest grudge remains that they don't make Ranaji proactive, they don't make him investigate, they rushed the love story from his side too which worsened things as viewers couldn't connect to him much to overlook certain things, no wonder he gets the worst bashing while if you see how Cvs want us to perceive him, you will find that they try to make him fair and honest even while being naive, but who will buy this when he isn't investigating or being proactive enough!! some other anti-heros even while doing bad things on purpose they were loved for their intelligence and passion, with Ranaji even when he isn't bad or deceptive and has good intentions still gets bashed because they stripped him off his brains and proactivity!

If they allow Ranaji to take some actions and give him back cleverness with some unconventional ways too in solving things and cut short Gayatri's suhagan dialogues instead keep it about her unconditional love which is obvious anyways but just make her avoid these cliched dialogues, keep her strong and make them win over evil cleverly, I assure you it will make for a pleasant watch! and yes they should stop this daasi drama everytime, she is the queen and Govind's Seth's daughter, she is the princess of her dad, I miss him!

But all this being said, and even if this track is illogical and kind of forced, and since I have no expectation from story or characterization or anything anymore, I liked the performances by DD/SK, I always like the angst, like in we love each other but we can't be with each other but still we can't help but loving and longing for each other 😆I know the situation is forced but I liked the pain, frustration and some passion it brought. Gayatri's breakdown!! that was so good, I admire her unconditional love and I hope she gives up her mahanta and tells him the truth and bank on his love for her and her love for him to make him overcome all this!

I liked Ranaji's anger/frustration/wickedness mixed with love and care for Gayatri. I like to see it more than his sad sorry expressions (waise he is having flashbacks of Gayatri!, he didn't have them during the express falling in love phase), if only along with him trying to make Gayatri jaleous and pressurize her to tell the truth, he did some investigation, and came to know that Avdesh wasn't killed by his bullet and that Sartaj didn't rape Rageswari, that could have been good, truth about his parentage could still be hidden and he could still try to find about it.

Most of things written well..but i dont agree with the third point..because if you look at the past episodes you can see that whenever the character of gayathri takes a backseat , TRP also takes a backseat...it could be bcoz of track or audience of zee tv connects to gayathri more that they are showing like that. What they really lack is a track where there is balance of characters but still i think audience pefers a strong gayathri Vs BRM more in this story.

I agree 100%.
Which husband on the earth who claimed that he loved his wife more than himself will leave his wife alone and shattered and will marry another lady for the sake of so called justice?When he is unable to keep his promise for his loving second wife,how rags expected that he won't do the same with her?He can repeat the same with rags also if one more lady will come with same kind of proposal

Exactly!! I agree with most of the points, but gayathri taking a back seat can never help the show, it was strong G vs BRM that gave 2.8 trps...They have to keep RGD strong..My only problem is that they have dumbed down RM and RNJ..The story can move forward without butchering any of the characters..especially RM,RNJ and RGD..
And for unconditional love, RGD has alreday proved her love, so there's no point in showing her unconditional love again..

I always like the serials with both the leads strong, i want both ML and FL with brains. That's the reason i hate Male/Female dominated show, were one of them becomes show piece or cry buckets..
