A Royal Mess!

This was a show that I once loved and enjoyed watching. It captivated me almost from the beginning thanks to the setting, the eye for detail, the pace, the characterizations, the technical finesse, the performances and so on!

What I see today is a pale copy of what this show once was! From being a fresh thought, it has become mired in the worst kind of desitv cliches that do no justice to the talent of the show's cast or the intelligence of a discerning audience.

The period setting that was once a differentiator has now been compromised with completely, be it the sets, the costumes, the choice of film songs used and just about everything.

We see repetitive tracks, the sole point being the conspiracies against the King. I understand that royalty might have had to deal with conspiracies but was that all they did? The story is now stuck within the four walls of the palace. What of the people that this King is supposed to govern? We haven't even had a glimpse of them in a long, long time!

Suddenly we have this secret coming out of nowhere that is supposed to destroy Amerkot! Considering that the King has not even been shown lifting his little finger to do anything for his people in a long, long time, how does it matter to the people what this secret is and whether he remains King or someone else takes over? Clearly governance is the last thing on the agenda of this royal family.

The story is supposed to be set at a time when the nation was consumed by patriotic fervour and the struggle for independence was at its peak. However, this aspect has hardly been touched upon except very cursorily during the dargah track!

The King is clueless about what is going on in his palace. Everybody is conspiring against him or keeping secrets from him and he has not even the faintest idea of any of this. And the explanation for this, as offered by the writer, is that he is naive. If the King is so naive that he is not even capable of dealing with the conspiracies within his own palace, does he deserve to be King even? And if we think he does not deserve to be King, why should we bother about any conspiracy to dethrone him? More importantly, if he is not even the son of the former King, he clearly has no legitimate right to be the King and the throne should automatically go to another family member! And if we are talking purely of kingly qualities, we have not seen Rana Indravadhan exhibit any such thing in quite a while.

So, if he is not shown to be an intelligent King and if he does not even deserve the position of King by birth, then how is this show all about a King and a Queen?

And of course, the epic love story has gone missing for a long time now. All we get to see is silly song and dance sequences that have no depth. Otherwise the leads behave like a long married couple who are plain bored with each other!

Lastly, I really don't know why I am bothering to write this even. I am no fan of this show or any of these actors. But I invested time and emotion on this show for a few months and what I see now makes me sad. Maybe there are a few people here who mourn the loss of the show as it was! Maybe they will find resonance in what I say!

Anyway, the more I see the show, the more I think the writers have turned the show into a royal mess and are now desperately trying everything they can think of to make some sense out of it and pull it out of the rut that it has gotten stuck in.

Only because this is a show that I once cared for, I hope they stumble upon a way to get this show back to what it was! The chances are pretty slim but miracles do happen!

If the character had been shown as clueless and stupid right from day one, it would have still made sense...the problem is he was shown as intelligent, perceptive and caring...and suddenly he's made this nincompoop who can't see what goes on right under his nose...and I am supposed to root for him to be King...why?

I agree with most of the points except the bold one.I don't think they have compromised with the settings,infact, it's the only thing which reminds us that this is supposed to be a 1940's story.

And regarding the costumes,people were cribbing about the costumes from the beginning of the serial.The costumes and the hairstyles that they gave in the beginning actually looked like 1940's(I really loved those costumes).But people had problem with it, so, they changed it.We can't blame them for this.People should have thought about it before complaining them even for the mere sandles.

And regarding story,it's already ruined they can't bring it back.It was supposed to be a lovestory of a king and his second wife who is a manglik, and her journey from commoner to a queen, and how she becomes the queen of rana's heart.But, i didn't find this story in their execution.And manglik thing is completely forgotten(They could have created a huge drama out of it).

I don't know why they deviated from the original story, they could still get the trp's if they had followed the same storyline.Now, they are left with a huge mess and poor trp's😕.

I think the problem started when they changed the writers🥱They shouldn't have changed the previous writers, because the way of writing may change from one writer to another.They should have retained them atleast for few more months

Of course they have retained the same palace set..! But just look at how they have down scaled...! I am sure you remember the first party on the show...just compare it to the recent party set ups they've shown...also they are not bothering to get out of the palace...!

Maybe they haven't retained Gayathri's maika sets...we are not even shown a temple these days!

Yes, the earlier set of writers were much better story tellers..ever since this new writer has come onto the show, the story is going around in circles..! Considering how disastrous his last few attempts have been, I am surprised the channel is still persisting with him..!

All NDE tracks get TRPs...that is what got the rival show 3.2...so I would not give credit for the 2.8 to Tiwari...in fact even with the romantic track, they had already got to 2.3...instead of building on that, they overplayed their hands by bringing in Sulakshana so early and now the show is suffering..!

You know what, i m not surprised at all.This writer ruined his own show which gave him huge success.He didn't even think once before killing the leads,So no wonder he ruined this show too🥱But, he always wrote lead centric tracks and was good in showing crackling chemistry between the leads😕(So i feel there are multiple writers, he's not the only one to blamed for the mess.)
And in the coming days if trps won't improve,he might kill our leads too(As far as i remember,he killed the leads in all the 3 shows that he produced.)

agree with you all. explained so well.👏 i am not a good writer. i am glad that you guys noticed what i did way before. i did not know that writer changed. no wonder everything changed. now i know why it does not look like 1940's love story. but i like the leads. now i am not watching the show maybe after all these mess is over than i will think about it. once you loose the interest, its hard to get back.😊

Actually, the last few episodes have been fine,so, hopefully it will get better in the coming days😊

I really shouldn't be commenting about this Tiwari chap since I have not seen any of his shows..but heard enough of his experiments..

Frankly, he has already killed their love story...how are they going to resurrect it...?

It is not that people have not noticed. I for one was trying my level best to be patient hoping that they would come up with something better.

I have lost my patience now though! Haven't been watching the show regularly for more than a week. The written updates don't tempt me frankly.

We already know BRM is evil and that she is going to seek revenge. We already know Gayathri will eventually win. So where is the surprise in the track? We just saw the same thing hardly a few weeks ago.

If whatever Sartaj is saying is true and Rana Indravadhan is his son, then how does he qualify to be the Raja of Amerkot? It is not even like they are showing him as an able or wise king. So why shouldn't BRM or Kunwar Chacha get a chance? They have a greater right by blood and marriage!

Where is the incentive to watch the show? The love story has gone down the drain. All that is left is conspiracies. If that is all I want to watch, there are so many other options. Why this?
