Hi Sush ,

Thank You for letting me post collages on your thread .

Hi Guys ,

I am disappointed with the creative team for botching the episode . What may I ask was the big rush ? Yesterday's episode should have been a two day deal . No depth in any of the dialogues , poorly executed .

This is no offense to any fandom ...sorry guys ...Sid failed miserably ...Yes, I agree part of the responsibility was the directors, but being a seasoned stage actor the temple scene should have been a breeze...the dialogues were recited ..no voice modulation , poor expressions...

The scene which worked for me was Drashti emoting ...the girl has expressive eyes ...they speak volumes ...I like Drashti when she emotes .

I liked the dhoti scene ...I will not compare it to Swades it's not fair to the team ...Both actors performed well ...great expressions , comfort level ...direction , script everything worked for me .

Gayatri the tease for once was tongue tied ...Ranaji in action 😆

The writes did a great job handling social issue " WOMEN'S EQULAITY " Thank You Ranaji for addressing the issue tactfully ...win win situation ...job well done by the CV's 👏

Few members had problems with Ranaji's emotional outburst looking at Gayatri's kangan ...I had no issues with the scene ...Gayatri was wearing Kangan which were Sulochana's ...looking at them bought back memories ...simple as that ...What followed was a disaster ...Breaking down at the temple was a big no no for me ...We have yet to see the man pray ...I would have liked to see the show end with pooja and bhojan ...

Once again the writers , director failed ...Ranaji talking to Gayatri's mother and the self monologue poorly written ...Each scene was probably written by different writers ...emotions ( Facial / vocal ) were poorly expressed

Gayatri convincing her Mother " All was well between Ranaji and her " ...was adorable .😛

Loved the romantic scenes DD and Sid are getting better with each passing day ...
- The dhoti scene was all that I thought it would be 👍🏼. Too bad I always watch the spoliers. I wud have enjoyed the scene so much more if I hadn't given in to temptation 😛. These 2 do the 'nod' language really well and yet again loved the bold 'seducing with the eye' rani 👏.
- Got no complaints with the the 'almost kiss scene' either. DD turning into a coy cornered cat was a treat to watch. She does that so effortlessly (reminded me of too many Geet scenes).

What was a bit 'meh' for me today was -
1) The "I am sorry" in the monologue more than the monologue itself ...not sure if it was cut/editt/pitch problem with the dialogue or his dialogue delivery ... it was just 🤔
2) The beginning of the almost kiss scene with "aap kya kar rahi hain..."...somehow its just didn't start/flow well. Loved that scene after G fiddles with the lamp and he makes her look at him.
3) The RNG-God scene ... somehow RGD-God scenes would be so ok but him and god kinda felt 🤪. And in the end when he closes his eyes he sees Sula ??? That made no sense. He saw what he wanted to see...and tomorrow he is gonna be moony looking with dola re dola ...I know I said brains aside but i was seriously 🤔 when he saw sula ...

Other than that Sula is a decent looking gal (somebody mentioned her blouse. I ❤️ it and whatever I saw of the Saree border too). Pretty until she opens her mouth for the dialogue that is😆. She is no match the seasoned DD.

@bold

I think they should just make her play a dumb ghost...she is terrible when she opens her mouth...how can she ever carry off a heavy track...

Okay, so a more objective analysis after a second viewing based on Chick's recco...I was so pissed off by that monologue that I just took off on a rant..and that spoiled everything else that followed for me...

So let me retrace my steps and try to be a little more balanced this time...

Hits

4. The dhoti scene...started off quite cutely...G was so caught up in the mess that he had made of the dhoti that she didn't seem to realize that her husband was topless...anyway, the realization took over when she placed her hand on his chest... both became acutely aware of the moment..and it became a reversal of the dori scene...except that both were perfectly at ease with the intimacy...very nice that..unlike the playful sensuality of the previous episode's scene, this one was more a helpless admission of their susceptibility to each other...particularly RNJ...he did not hesitate to show at every point that he was affected...quite like G had during the dori scene...

What struck me most was the ease even in the midst of the sexual tension...if the previous episode was playful almost in its tone and trying to get better of the other, this one was more a confession...RNJ asked for more...and G told him that now was not the time..but she promised more at a later time...very well done once again by both Sid and DD..particularly given that they are having back to back scenes of this kind..to try for a different pitch every time...the chemistry was very different from what we had seen before...like I said, it was indicative of a comfort level where RNJ had no qualms showing his need openly..no turning away...😳 Sid is so very good at expressing sensual tension ..he does it elegantly and yet emphatically...

5. I really liked RNJ telling Seth ji that he was a son-in-law and would do what it took...very sweet moment that..G was naturally beaming with pride...but RNJ became the king when he gently castigated Seth ji for his chauvinism and suggested a change of ways...of course Seth ji gladly obliged...nice...again, I really like that the son-in-law is always the King...but the King is not always the son-in-law...really like the way Sid is making that distinction...excellent body language..!

6. Finally the scene that brought back Sulakshana...! I did not find it sudden or contrived...it was the first time that he was consciously planning and initiating intimacy and his conscience chose the wrong moment to rear its ugly head...it shows that much as the flesh may be willing, sometimes the mind plays tricks...unfortunately the bangle showed its ugly face at the wrong time...or maybe the right time..because RNJ really needs to resolve this in his head if he has to move on...

I liked Sid's expressions when he feels the torment of conscience pangs...he is frustrated, angry and agonized...Drashti was of course excellent in her inability to accept that her husband's past was constantly proving a block in their relationship...

Misses

4. The last scene before Mata Rani didn't work for me...the dialogues were very meh...they could have been much more powerful...and Sulakshana's appearance when he is in a trance is not Mata Rani showing the way but his own guilty conscience superimposing her claim...that is why he says he has too many questions and no answers...it might be construed as misleading...! RNJ's conflict was seen but not very powerful..but am assuming the torment was already there in the previous scene..so they wanted to limit it to questions...but somehow, placing the scene in a temple and showing him speaking to the Goddess did not work for me...it did not go with RNJ's characterization...it could have been played very differently...I was frankly surprised to see him talking to the Goddess...he could have sat under the skies and spoken to the stars maybe...might have felt more impactful...!

Thanx, Bertie.

More or less the same feelings from my side too...The dhoti scene was one of the best chemistry scenes I have seen on telly...and it is a huge thing coming from me, because I have followed every 4L couple except Maaneet. I was mentally comparing this with ArShi's haldi scene...and I have no better words to describe the scene after how you have described it.👏

On the misses-
I agree it was unnatural for RNJ to go to the temple...but I guess he is not an atheist as such...just doesn't believe in queues in dargahs and early morning pooja's disrupting his sleep. He makes it a point not to miss the pujas...so this was the most conflicted he felt, he needed help from above.

Also, I wonder if we are to see RNJ a little emotionally unstable in the coming weeks...

This monologue at the temple seemed to indicate that- actually now I feel they underplayed his emotions there...he couldn't be in agony- that'd show eagerness to belong to Gayatri...they kind of made it NEUTRAL. I realised this after I replied to G yesterday. The rawness of his emotion was captured when he caught the bangle...after that, it had to be him trying to sort it out calmly...but he couldn't stumble upon a solution. No arguing the fact the scene required more polishing.

I am actually comparing daily soaps to movies mentally.
I was looking forward to watching shaandaar, dropped it after the reviews. Last weekend, I wondered how film makers could afford to go so wrong after spending months and crores on a 2 hour product. I really felt the need to applaud serial makers right then...they give us so much stuff with so littte time..I am pretty sure the last week of ETR which must have taken 2 or 3 weeks of preparation must be a better watch than some of the BW hits made painstakingly over months.🥱

@chicksoup
Thanks Chick for pushing me to attempt a second viewing with your review...I keep telling myself that I should not jump to making comments, especially when I was pissed out right at the beginning of the episode...but well...I think anger is much my friend as RNJ's 😆

I have said the exact same thing about the temple scene...I don't think he is atheist...but somehow standing like that in front of the Goddess didn't work for me...I liked his expressions in the dargah...where he is helpless and hopes the divine power is listening and will save G for him..and guide him...

I think Sid excels in emoting without lines...unfortunately TV is full of dialogues...and sometimes the theater actor in him takes over...they deliver lines...don't speak them...and you can't do that on TV

Also, I feel he needs to learn the art of emoting without thinking too much ...it will serve him well on TV...where it is best you don't think about logic, consistency etc..

I would've liked to see him talk to the stars and the divine power through them...

I agree completely on the underplaying...they did not want it to be a dramatic and emotional scene,...more a confused and conflicted one...which is what he delivered..the trauma was already seen when he spotted the bangle...

We are so used to seeing dramatic temple scenes on TV that we can't quite figure out what to do with one that seems a bit flat because of the underplaying...now the same would've worked fine on the big screen...!

I also feel that they are going for an emotionally unstable RNJ...that may well be the plan of the black veiled lady and kunwar chacha...there was even a dialogue...that they need to aim for his heart...instead of making external attacks...

I really don't think Sula is coming back in a regular sense...because that actress simply cannot carry off anything majorly dramatic...!

Agree on the TV makers part totally...with the kind of budgets and stars and the luxury of time taht they have, filmmakers deliver crap..gotta give it to these TV chaps...!

@Kojagoryfan, thanks for the links.

The entire episode was Kuch Bhi for me. DD-SK stand alone scenes of RaGa were amazing again. The chemistry during the dhoti scene and the one later was superb. I do love their non-verbal communication so very much.

This was the first time RaGA were in a room together well barring the night at the dargah. And dear Sona had to come in between them😡

Rest of the episode was blah. There was nobody to welcome the son-in-law who also happens to be the King, when he reaches the Seths, he is told to change and he is wandering around the house by himself trying to figure out where to go was just strange. This was the first time he had entered the house!! Also weird was the Damyanti-RNJ convo and his self talk, both were strange. And both of which were cut in the version we saw in the US!!!! Wondering how Gayu could hear their convo from that distance!
RNJ at the temple - looked like they used the clip of SK practicing his dialogues!!😆 Just watched it, it wasnt that bad on TV😆 It was a cry for help, not supposed to be dramatic. The Sona part though was 🤢

I am confused about what the CVs want to show, that RNJ is physically attracted to her but not in love with her yet? Today of all days he conveniently remembers Sona??!! Not wasting my time analyzing that aspect.

BTW who shut the trunk of the car and didnt notice the veiled lady?😆

DD looked gorgeous in that saree. I loved the saree.

One thing I noticed yesterday but did not comment on was RNJ reaction when her brother visited the palace. He addresses Gayu as Rani and RNJ makes a face, he was pleased to hear Gayu's reply that she will always be Gayatri to him... I really liked that.

I am updating as I am watching 😆 Dinner scene was sweet too as was the message. But if I recollect in one scene before her marriage, they all ate together. I think it was when her mom told her she couldnt go the RM's birthday party with the rest of them. Anyhoo, RNJ looked pleased to have Gayu sit next to him and eat. That was nice.

I am missing Swarna. But I am not interested in watching the domestic abuse scenes.

I was happy to see Darshanji today.

Dear CVs, please, please let RNJ come across the letter Gayu wrote to him while he is staying at her maika. I would love to see how he reacts.
