Dear,i understand but really women were born and brough up like that that their mindset was that..no matter how much they love..they thought marriage is the only option for girl..they want to get rid of them ASAP,exceptions are in every era..but this was the bitter truth of that era..even now also hasn't changed very much..but it was worse than and they showing that only..women had to kill their dreams..feelings..but slowly slowly change came.Ya it'll be a tight slap for family when"abhagan"Gayatri will actually become "Rani".

Why think of 1940s coz 2015 is also not any better than those days.

she is just taking it too far
she just wants to sell her daughter
she does not understand this
if the oldie dies she will be in worse hell
she never thinks of her happiness
she is a selfish twisted old woman
now she started her emotional blackmail
rich girls could have bought young poor guys
brothers are a shame to all brothers in the world
they are hypocrites and douche bags
who listen only to their wives
and rattles off whatever they say

The pre-independence era was not regressive, but society rules were different. Girls were married off at 16 and Gayatri is 21yrs with a 'abhagan' tag since her fianc died after the engagement. Even today, widows are considered 'abhagans', so this era is obviously old-fashioned. Financial status has nothing to do with how you think, but education makes all the difference. That is difference between Gayatri and her mother. 😃 So when Gayatri steps in as 'Rani' her intelligence and smartness wl hold the royal family together to meet all crisis in future. This wl compel Ranaji to fall in love all over again. The serial is trying to highlight why its important for a girl to dream big and why its important to educate a girl child. 👏

@Bold
bang on!

@grumpydwarf : Thanks. I also feel that Creatives want to show the character of Gayatri as 'bold and beautiful'. She would initially be upset when she realizes that Ranaji is still in love with his 1st wife and her dreams may no longer come true. How she conquers the odds and finds her way to Ranaji's heart wl also be interesting to watch. It would show that true love and belief in yourself will finally triumph. Ranaji's respect for educated women who also believes in freedom and for women would help Gayatri gain a foothold in the royal family. 😃

Whatever may be society rules/demands...but mother throwing her daughter in a garbage bin is rarely seen in all eras...and if it came from poor or unmarried mums...more than Bhai-bhabhis mum makes me puke...
