Reformers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy raised their voice against social evils like Sati and female infanticide. He also advocated education for women.

Exactly. And there were ishwar chander vidhya sagar who devoted his whole life for women's education.

Anyways the thing is expectations were very high. The way show was promoted people wanted it to be perfect. We cant judge 1940s era just by 2-3 episodes. There are many things on which that era shud be judges.

I wont judge it hastily. Lets give it one or two month. No one can make a show great from the first episode only.

Somebody pointed out talking to sipahis. She didnt talk face to face. She was behind that prada. That was very much acceptable.

I just finished reading book...the princess memorise.. maharani gayatri devi...which is original autobiography of gayatridevi...even creative head of etretr tweeted the pic...from the reference of that book...gayatri devi was educated and string headed women... she was pamperd child of her family...
coming to English of that era...i think u should read indian history again... mahatma gandhi, netaji bose, ramabai ranade etc were well known freedom fighter expert in English and this story is abt 1940s not 17s era or historicals like jodha akbar...clear ur confusion dear

even the movie Jodha Akbar (with all the thorough research by Gowarikar) wasn't accurate .. can you remember an instance in the movie where we were allowed to believe that Akbar had a harem full of wives and that he was not Jodha's exclusively? šŸ˜†
I was a part of the JA forum when it started and remember the shock the viewers had for being introduced to Akbar's Harem šŸ˜†
But yes the show does seem to be the same old tale presented with a vintage cover. but it is early yet.. we might see the 1940 particulars more as the story progress.
