Drashti can't be ott her bubbliness comes very natural .
That's the charming fact in the show .
We have seen in mb always crying girl that's a bit irritating this one has many layers .
Any show intro of heroine starts with bubbliness it can't be serious and story says she is brought up like a boy pampered by father no wonder kids call her bhaiya .
Sorry tm never felt ott acting in dd

I do agree that Gayatri seems like a mixture of Geet and Maddy. However I think Geet was quite meek and subservient in the beginning...her bubbly-ness (not a word I know lol) came into being when she fled to Delhi and started working for Maan. Whereas Maddy was shown as a headstrong/bubbly girl in the beginning but then later turned into a doormat. I think this bubbly-ness is the only common factor between these three characters. Gayatri on the other hand doesn't seem meek nor a doormat (so far)...could be wrong though.

From what I've heard and read on the forum, Gayatri loves books. That is a very nice touch to her character. Usually you don't see a lot of typical Indian bahus focused on education. The only one I can think of from recent times is that Diya Bati chick.
Btw I do agree that sometimes DD has a tendency to be OTT during her bubbly scenes (and this is coming from a DD fan). She excels in emotional and romantic scenes though. Bubbly scenes are not her forte but I'm looking forward to seeing her grow as an actor :))

And coming to Sid...I have to admit that I've never followed his work (mostly because our desi vampire show wasn't my cup of tea)...but I'm loving whatever I've seen of him in the promos. There is no one better that would have suited the character of Rana as much as Sid does. He just emanates this royal aura, personality, charisma (whatever you want to call it) perfectly!

So excited to see how Rana and Gayu (I think that's my new nickname for her...gayatri is way too long to type out lol) love story progresses :) As long as they don't turn Gayu into another doormat, I'm on board but as soon as Gayu turns into a pathetic doormat, I'll say hello hi bye bye to this show 😆😆

Haha, agree with you. I will leave the show if they turn her doormat or ruin her character having no respect for herself. Last time I left her last show and thank God for finding revenge where a strong Female lead was shown. It was my first ever American show and such fresh change for having a strong and multi-layered female oriented show. I am sure this time I will find an amazing female oriented show too if they ruin Gayatri's character. Last time, DD's character was not doormat or bad in the beginning or till a year, but they ruined it later wards. So hopefully, nothing happens like that here nor with Rana's character. No one likes main character to be ruined or their love story.

But I don't think any such thing will happen here. Ranaji's character doesn't seem the type of like that, and even if he will hate or doesn't like Gayatri in the beginning, he will always give respect or not insult her in front of others as after all he has to maintain his Raja's royal image who's fair and all. 😃

Last show I watched, the male lead didn't look pyscho at first but later on he did the most heinous thing and walked away scott free. Like gambling with the female lead's life and forcing her into marrying him. I dont mind having grey male characters as long as their wasn't a double standard where grey male leads are glorified and accepted by the audience. And grey female leads frowned upon. I dont mean to generalize at all but that is the pattern I find typically among Indian shows and Indian online audience.

And over all, Ya I'd agree, the show was carried by the actors, but the DOP, sets, and somewhat "unique" introduction were all a major part in making the episode enjoyable.

Regarding DD:

You never know what they will do with Gayatri's character and all DDians are hoping she doesn't turn meek in the coming episodes; well we can hope. Gayatri does seem to be a mix of Geet / Maddy.
I liked her but I want some deeper layers in the characters and want her to be fierce.

Maddy anyways always has been highly underrated...well on india forums that is 😆
It was DD's most nuanced performance. A lot of the credit I'd say goes to ST who really extracted the best of DD (and VD for that matter) in MEIEJ, of course until both characters were butchered, which is typical for all Indian serials.

I loved how headstrong / self righteous she was and ALSO how mature she was. It made her a bit different from the typical Indian heroine. As a fan, I do agree that in "bubbly" scenes, DD does have a slight tendancy to go OTT but in serious, romantic, and emotional scenes, there is no one like her AND THAT IS WHAT ST CASHED IN ON - which is why MB as a character was so successful.

Maddy's might be underrated in IF, but she was always the fav of trp audience. Her episodes or her filled scenes episodes used to get the highest trps. The highest trp episode from her last show was also her related episode which even had beat Diya and Bathi trps. Most of us hated that epi, but it did get the highest trps. But she was also popular in twitter and fb colors sites. I guess it's was only us DDians and here in IF people didn't like her much. May be because we are not used to cry female leads, etc.

So, I hope Gayatri also becomes as famous or even more with trps audience after all they matter the most for shows' success and for an actor's career, but still I hope that doesn't mean she should be like her last character where it was ruined later. I want her character to remain strong and classy rathar than getting ruined, and be well like by DDians and everyone in this forum too along with trps audience.

I dont know abt characters but i will rate the whole epi as 6 out of 10

The epi didn't reach upto my expatation, I think Rana's entry could hv been more dramatic n grand

That car blast scene was not at all drametic i mean the ppl around there didn't even gave shocking expression

Regarding Gayatri i liked her scene outside Library but with those kids she do went a bit OTT

I liked precap but i m sure we will start liking as it grows

Yeah, they ruined his character too. Honestly, I wasn't even much of fan of DD's character in the beginning months. I was of the male character, but they ruined him completely with their so called twist, and later rather than giving redemption track for him, they made him psycho and ruining the female character along with it later which was the last nail in the coffin. The trps went down along with all such disasters.

Anyway, we can't talk much about last show here as mods will come, but i do hope nothing like that happens here or worse. This PH is very experienced, so I hope they don't such mistakes and keep the show and story good.

Agree with ya Bitwa on the fake car blast scene. Indian shows need better special effects Man 😆😆 Most people were just staring at the car...they didn't seem shocked at all about their heir being blown up to pieces.

But man! That scene where Rana is entering the frame on a horse just took my breath away dude! His raw emotions were enough to make it dramatic! I liked it more than the airplane one.

Yes! She did go a bit OTT with the kids. She nailed it in the scene outside the library though. Hopefully she improves on the bubbly-ness :)

I think the show will pick up in the coming weeks. It's only been a day...and most shows take at least one or two months to connect with the audience. Same goes for ETR2 :))

Thank you.
apologies for the totally offtopic reply, but I hate it when Madhu is sl*gged. She was anything but bubbly.Madhubala before she was butchered was such a beautiful mixture of grace, innocence and insanity.
Some of the sweetest episodes in that serial were where Madhu slowly starts falling for R.K. You're are awed by both this person's vulnerability, and capacity to love.
DD totally was Madhubala and I am sure she will totally own Gayatri as well.Rest really depends on the writers and director.

nice analysis.as said by @ utopia
Regarding Drashti's character, I guess the cvs want Gayatri's character to be bubbly and a free spirit. Once Gayatri marries into the royal family, she might become more mature and reserved.
