For me, Kamla only wanted the best for her daughter Kalpi!! But, being a maid her thinking was different!! Meaning, she took on a responsibility to take care of Paaki!! By doing that she deprived her own to make Paaki (the kapoors) continuing ...

That is true... Kamla wanted the best for her daughter... But not in whole sense... She wanted her daughter to fulfil her dreams... She allowed her insecurities... Her fears... To rule her...I felt that she wanted the best for Kalpi only if it suited what Kamla wanted... She knew that Ragav was a good soul... Yet she was against Kalpi and Ragav's relationship... Because Pakhi had feelings for Ragav. One scene that bothered me... When Kalpi came back from hostel... It was a birthday... Till date I can't understand why Kamla did not tell Pakhi to join them... Why couldn't she tell Pakhi come over, let us cut the cake together... When did she always pit the girls against each other by choosing one or the other?

Thanks for the PM!
Kamla herself admitted to being a selfish woman who looked out for strangers more than her own child. She admitted this, the day she found out Pakhi was evil. So the answer to your question is self evident from that perspective. When Kalpana was sent to boarding school, it was to fulfill Kamla's dream. Kamla worked hard to fulfill her own dream. And then she found solace in Pakhi, the girl she had breastfed. Pakhi became her own whilst Kalpana became her burden, ie she was working as a nanny for KALPANA rather than Pakhi.Kamla didnt go wrong in her upbringing. A child depicts her parent's traits, and thats what we saw in Pakhi. Kamla was manipulative from the word go to enable her to work at the Kapoor's. Pakhi was Kamla's daughter, Kalpana was mere brought into this world by Kamla, her upbringing was done by her father and then herself. This is why we do not see any such traits in her. Kalpana got off lightly if you ask me.😆By the time Kamla realised how wrong she was, it was too late as her daughter's happiness was strangled out of her, by Kamla herself.
Abt that scene actually she couldn't have asked Pakhi to join as there was a party at Pakhi's house... n Neetu had forbidden Kamla from coming there so she couldn't possibly attend that n otherwise also I doubt Neetu would be too eager to let the girls celebrate together...Originally posted by: angelpureness

Kamla's actions surely put her in the category of selfless, but to me her selflessness seems crafty somehow... like she has a reputation of being selfless n is trying to maintain that...Like the way she rushes to others aid no matter what, but ignores her own children's needs on the pretext that they're 'strong'... This kind of double standards give me the crafty/fake feeling, but seeing that Kamla is supposed to be more of simple n ideal, she might've taken them for granted sounds like a better explanation...
s for Pakhi turning out the way she did, I can't blame Kamla coz despite her best efforts n all the love, she never fulfilled the place of a mother coz she never had the necessary amount of authority over Pakhi... the status of being merely a nanny hampered her efforts... she couldn't scold or punish her like she would've done to Kalpi or Pakya, n even when she tried Neetu would come butting in...Plus SaTu's determination to pamper Pakhi into a spoilt brat... their company was bound to rub off on her after all...

Kamla was portrayed as naive to the extent of stupidity and ignorance... she never pitted them against each other intentionally n was too ignorant to sense the tension b/w them...
Wasn't finished replying LoL go back and read!!
Indeed she did... but her reasoning behind it brings us back to the same point... it was not always the love for her that made Kamla give in to all her wishes, but sometimes when it was a choice b/w Pakhi n Kalpi, as in the pen incident, it was her status as a poor servant, her belief that the rich always win n its useless fighting them (she contradicted this belief later, but this is what she thinks at this point)... she had to make Kalpi give in to prevent Neetu badmouthing them...Originally posted by: angelpureness
Absolutely... There always was a sense of craftiness... Calculativeness... Initially I thought Kamla had done a good job raising Pakhi... Because Pakhi chose to go against her. Pakhi knew that there was only person in the world who loved her truely... And that was Kamla... Yet she did the same thing Kamla did with her family... She took Kamla's love and affection for granted. You have raised a valid point... There was always that fine line that Kamla could not cross with Pakhi. Don't you think that Kamla also played a hand in making Pakhi believe she could always get what she wants... Every time Pakhi threw a tantrum, Kamla went running... I feel Kamla has take some responsibility for enabled Pakhi's flaws.
